Dear Ren,
How are you, darling? We know its been such a long time since we last wrote to you (we hope you got your new socks), but you'll be dreadfully pleased to know its becuase we have been preparing something, and thus have some wonderful news for you!
It absolutely kills us having you away from home so many months of the year - your father and me love your brothers very much, but we feel lost without our little girl. Your father has been in touch with that bizarre 'ministry' of your wizarding world, and although its took a lot of aruging and persuading it, we've finally got permission to bring you home for your final year and have your own private magic tutor here! Now you'll never have to go to go back to that drafty old castle again! It still baffles your father and me to think they haven't installed elecricity or a telephone line yet. Astonishing!
Write to us if you need anymore clothes or shampoo.
Your loving parents xxx
PS: What's a 'muggle'? Those wizards at the 'ministry' called it us several times and we haven't a clue what is it!
Loren's mouth hung open as she read the letter several times through, unable to believe what she was reading. 'But I don't want to leave Hogwarts!' she screeched so loudly several of the owls were disturbed on their perches, flapping their wings and hooting disapprovingly. The letter dropped to the messy floor and Loren sat down on one of the writing benches, her mind racing with what it all meant. She would never see her friends again, never have another Quidditch match... and Felix! She would have to abandon him completely...
Anger boiled up inside her. Her parents were utterly useless - what did they know about Hogwarts or the ministry of magic? It annoyed her greatly that, no matter how many times she tried to explain, they never seemed to grasp any concept she presented them with. Quidditch, Hogwarts, muggles, the floo network... it was like a forgein language that they refused to learn! Her mother's greastest worry was what to wear when the postman came, and her father was so quiet and subservient that he barely had a say in anything, let alone be able to stick up for Loren.
Growling furiously Loren stomped on the letter, mushing it into the owl droppings on the floor with mirth. She would have her wand snapped before she left Hogwarts before her time!
So focused on herself, Loren did not notice the person standing in the doorway, staring at her...

Arms folded Boggleworth stood in the doorway of the owlery, ushering some third years away because he feared that Loren might just bite their heads off they made the slightest wrong movement, "perhaps you'd best come back later." He said to them though he was no longer Head Boy a handful of students would somtimes give him a little respect. Turning to see Loren scrunch up the letter he thought it was time to act. "Loren," he called happily as if he hadn't been there the entire time and watched her expressions as she seemingly got some dreadful news. He couldn't imagine much else causing such anguish at least. Breezing over to her smiling from head to foot he exclaimed unwittingly and jokingly "darling how are you? I know somebody who loves you dearly would say such a thing," But he let his grin slip as if he had only just seen her expression "something wrong Loren?" He asked in a friendly and sympathetic way.

Loren snapped her head in the direction of the door, startled. 'Oh, Bog! I didn't realise anyone was about...' She said with an exaggerated sigh, placing a hand on her chest. Looking at him, she realised he was eying the letter on the floor with discreet curiosity. For a moment she wanted to do what she would usually have done in front of a stranger or acquaintance - magic it away and declare everything was fine and dandy...
But not today. She knew that any resident of Hogwarts would understand the severity of her situation and be able to sympathies with her fully (or so help them). 'My parents,' she began with a somewhat annoyed huff. 'Think they have done the right thing in making arrangements for me to leave Hogwarts. Yes, you heard! Leave! Can you believe it? What fool would want to leave here? No one!' she had stood up now, pacing back and forth with a fiery gleam in her narrowed eyes. 'Well rubbish to that, don't you think so, Bog?!' She rounded on him accussingly, her teeth bared. By Merlin someone was going to feel sorry for her or there would be hell to pay...

Gesturing for Loren to follow him, he guided her with a lightly placed hand on her shoulder, over to a corner with fewer owls, "we shouldn't be so disturbed here," he explained "cause of the stink," he grinned trying vainly to lighten the mood. Having listened intently to Loren's words he puzzled over them a moment, this was shocking news indeed and she had a right to be thoroughly upset, putting himself in such a situation mainly the seperation from his friends he thought he would have reacted far more violently, though he wasn't by nature violent, he was far too much of a gentleman for that. Leaning against an owl's perch he failed to notice the nipping it gave him for interupting it's pleasant sleep, too absorbed he was in the present disturbing news. "Well," he murmered "I can't quite believe it to be truthful, though I know not your family circumstances, I'd never have imagined something so outrageous happening," he said his voice and facial expressions of sadness full of sympathy. "You're handling the news remarkably well though," he said with a grin as he viewed her facial expression of pure annoyance, "there's no way you're going to leave," he said calmly, in a voice that suggested he knew this for a fact, "why would your parents want you to leave?" He asked unsure of why anyone would wish her to abandon her education at the drop of a hat. "I can imagine some Slytherins wishing you to leave," he commented laughing heartily though the circumstance didn't call for suhc a thing, he couldn't help it, if something was funny he laughed. But on seeing the dangerous look in her eyes he continued hurriedly wishing to smooth things out "We'll be able to sort something out I'm sure, how could you possibly leave anyway?" He asked curiously "I'm fine if you don't want to divulge mind." He added grinning though looking comfortingly at her.

Frodo had been on his way up to the Owlery to mail a letter home to his parents when he heard voices. A boy and a very distressed sounding girl. He pushed open the door, as to not appear to be eavesdropping, not that he was of course; and slipped inside. "Is everything alright?" he asked tentatively as he shut the door behind him

"Oh, dear, I'm os sorry!" she said, going over to the place where he haf gotten pushed to "I was in such a mood that I forgot there was other people that came here!" she helped him to his feet and used her wand to syphon off the owl droppings "I am really sorry." she said again. On the way up the stair to the Owlery, grace had to jump aside to avoid a very hasty Ariane. She couldn't think of any reason to be running up the stairs but she figured when she reached the top she would find out.
But when she arrived inside the Owlery, Grace got nothing but more questions. "What is going on here?" she asked, chuckling at the sight of Ariane fussing over a gryffindor. She laughed and pulled a letter out of her pocket. She and Jac had composed this letter. It was to Jac's mother, who had all but adopted Grace.
She walked towards Jac's owl, still giggling to herself. She gave Hywel an owl treat from her pocket (which she had gotten from Jac) and a stroke on the head. When he chirped at her, Grace gave him the letter and he was off. She turned to watch him fly off and saw Bog and Loren sitting together in a corner. Grace frowned. She walked towards Loren noticing more and more the forlorn look on her face. Grace knelt next to Loren, and, looking up at her, asked "is everything alright? You seem out of sorts."

"I was sending a letter and I knocked over this Gryffindor" Ariane said hastily. She picked up her package with a quick swoop of her wand. "I apologize, again, for that" she said, giving th eGryffindor a quick smile. She walked over ot one of the school owls and attatched the parcel to it's leg. She carried it over to the window and watched as it took flight with amazing ease.

Arthur took each step slowly rereading the letter his parent's had sent him. He would occasionally pause on his trek up the steps to the owlery and laugh something his parents wrote, and continue. Finally he reached the owlery and stopped. He saw a few Ravenclaws, a Gryffindor on the floor, and then some Hufflepuffs. Arthur looked back at his parent's letter one more time:
Dear Arthur, Please tell your delivery pigeon, bird, pet thing to please stop nipping at us. It is hard enough to attach letters to him. It is odd this school has no delivery system like UPS or something. The days have been slow without you. We also met this really nice gentleman when we were buying your stuff in that Alleyway behind the bar, and he is actually one of our neighbors! I have taken a fancy to him and he to me. Exchanging information of the two different worlds, I am proud you have inherited these interesting powers son, your dad too... I miss you and hope you are being careful! Make sure you don't get sick, like rabies or something from this animal or from anything else at that school. Have you been drinking plenty of juices and eating plenty of fruit? Don't want you getting sick! I better go... The stove on fire again. Love, Mom.
Arthur laughed one more time. Typical mom.... Constantly worrying about his health when she should worry about his own. Arthur studied over his letter also before sealing it and tying to a random owl's leg and sending the bird flying. Then Arthur looked at Loren, with her distressed and angered look, she must have been the one who was making the commotion. Then in a calm, pleasant voice Arthur asked, "What troubles you?"
