Jac had been quietly singing a song to herself when she had first noticed an odd tapping coming from the Ravenclaw. She shot Nikole a sideways glance, frowned, but said nothing of it. But when Nikole jumped, Jac stopped and turned in one fluid movement. Her hair had turned a hot, angry red, reflected in her shining emerald eyes.
Jac glared at her and said, "and if you want to alert every bleeding prefect to the fact that we're here, continue disturbing the silence like that." She glanced hesitantly up and down the corridor they were in and said a little more calmly, "That's the reason people get caught. The quiet is so easily disturbed and in these draughty corridors the sound carries. Let's keep moving." She checked the corridor and carried on walking.
With a little giggle she said, "it's a good thing, of course, that the sound does travel. Helps us hear who's coming." She smiled at Nikole and made her hair a bright purple.

Nikole could tell the girl was angry as soon as her hair started to turn a violent shade of red. “Oh! sorry,” she said looking at the ground her face turning a shade of red that almost matched her hair. “I just can’t help myself sometimes.” She didn’t mean to anger the girl, but she really just had a curious nature.
Nikole smiled as the girl’s hair became purple and she seemed calm again. “Yes, of course, I will be much quieter,” she said in a voice that was almost a whisper. She looked around the corridor as she continued to follow Jac.

Sarie heard something down the hall. I wanting to get out for a bit she went to find waht it was. She saw a Ravenclaw and a one of her fellow Gryffindor. They seemed to be just going for a walk. Not that instrering. She was just going to pass though not wanting to install herself in the talk.

Jac felt bad about having gotten angry at Nikole. She hadn't meant to get so angry but ever since she had gotten caught by Prof Vance and Tonks, Jac's confidence was shot. She smiled warmly at the Ravenclaw as they continued to walk. "Knew you were smart," Jac said also in a low voice, "and don't worry about getting caught, I've always got a plan."
She winked at the Ravenclaw and smiled. They turned a corner and headed towards a spiral staircase. Starting up it, Jac thought she saw something behind them. She hesitated on the third step for a moment, but then, not wanting to wait for whatever it was, turned back and walked up the stairs, whispering, "there's someone behind us. Let's pick up the pace."

Nikole kept following Jac, resisting the urge to turn and see who was behind them. But when she started up the first step of the spiral staircase, she couldn't help herself, and without stopping she turned and looked back quickly almost stumbling on the stairs.
What she did notice was that the person behind them seemed very small. It was probably just another student, and if her eyes didn't deceive her it was probably an even younger year than Nikole. "I think that was just a student," she whispered to Jac. "They seemed very small probably a second year or first year."

Jac turned to see that Nikole had stopped at the foot of the stairs. Jac quickly joined her and looked. It was indeed a younger student but she quickly passed them and carried on. Jac held on the wall and leaned out into the passage, watching the small girl. Pulling herself back up, she barked a laugh and shrugged to Nikole.
She inclined her head towards the stairs and said, still smiling, "let's get going. We're almost there." She wasn't completely telling the truth for they still had three flights of stairs to climb. They soon got to the top of the stair case and started off down another corridor. "So, Nikole," Jac said conversationally, realising the silence between them had gone on long enough, "you're first time out? And I guess you pretty much stick to the rules then?"

After walking up all the stairs, Nikole found herself a little out of breath. She really wasn't used to all this walking. "Yeah," she answered quietly, trying to bring her breathing back to normal.
After she finally was breathing almost normally she continued. "I've never been much for rule breaking. I used to worry about getting in trouble." As she said this she thought about how true that was. "I don't think I'm very good at all this walking either," she said with a sigh, leaning up against a wall. "I'll need a moment's rest."

Jac looked back to smile at Nikole when she noticed she was leaning against the wall. Jac doubled back walking backwards and stood in front of Nikole. She laughed, seeing the look on her face. "The walking is something you get used to," she said, "but the running is what get's me." She began to bounce on her feet, her energy levels running high.
Jac once again looked up and down the corridor. They were nearer now, a few floors below but near. She glanced up, as though she could see the entrance through the everything between them. "Buck up, ol' chap," she said, nudging Nikole lightly on the arm, "almost at the next staircase. Come on." She began to walk on, hoping the push would convince Nikole to follow.

Nikole sighed as Jac pushed onward. She reluctantly pushed herself away from the wall and followed at a fairly slow pace. "Ugh," she groaned. "I think I've had enough of wandering the school for my whole time here."
The thought of another staircase made Nikole feel even more tired. The effects of not getting sleep were starting to kick in. She sighed. "Oh well, I suppose I should just get over it, seeing as how I have no other choice," she said straightening up and beginning to walk a bit faster.

Jac grinned at the girl. "Don't worry," she said with a knowing look on her face, "I know a short cut." She tapped her nose and said, picking up speed, "this way." They turned a corner and she stopped walking. She looked down the corridor and pointed to the fourth door on the left hand side. "That's the entrance to the prefects bathroom," she said, smiling at Nikole, "but don't bother trying to get in, it's password protected."
They had stopped in front of a statue of a lost-looking wizard with his gloves on the wrong hands. Jac smiled at him and said, "this is Boris the Bewildered, no clue why he's got the name but it always makes me laugh. Jac smiled and pointed to a staircase father down the corridor. "That'll lead us straight to the seventh floor, then we'll almost be there." She smiled again and began walking towards the staircase at the end of the corridor.

"Good," Nikole said in her cheery voice. "A short cut. I do love short cuts." She was trying to make mental notes of all the signifigant sites as they went, so that if she ever found herself lost again, she would be able to find her way back. When they reached the statue Nikole looked at it strangely for a moment before she let out a small giggle.
"Okay," Nikole said with a nod as they headed toward the staircase. "Hey, Jac, how much time have you spent wandering the school?" she asked suddenly curious. "Because you seem to know where everything is."

Jac was proud that Nikole noticed how well she knew the castle. Jac laughed and her hair flared a vibrant bubble gum blue. "I spend way too much time out after hours," she laughed, "ever since I was in my first year I've been wondering around, noting where things where and stuff like that."
They soon reached the staircase and Jac, bubbling with energy, began jogging up the stairs. "Almost there," she cried happily, "almost there." She jumped to the next step, step, step and jumped onto the top of the stairs. She swung her arms backwards and forwards, looking up and down the corridor.
"Nik," she called over her shoulder, "we're on the seventh floor now." She wasn't sure where the Ravenclaw Common Room entrance was, all she knew is that it was in a tower and the entrance was on the seventh floor. "Right," she said, smiling, "where to now? You know where you are right?"

Nikole watched as Jac hurried up the stairs. She herself continued at a much slower speed and reached the top a while after Jac. "Umm..." she said thinking and looking around. "I think...it is..." She was still looking back and forth trying to distinguish something that would tell her which way to go. Finally deciding to guess she pointing to her left.
"But I'm not one hundred percent sure," she admitted with a sigh. "I'll know it when I see it though," she added. She hated to admit that she didn't even know her way from this point, but what else could she do.

Jac slowly turned her head to look at Nikole in the moonlit corridor, a look of shock on her face. "You don't recogn..." Jac trailed off a bemused look on her face. "That's fine," she said moving her shoulders up and down, "we can walk a little more." Jac looked up and down the corridor. "Which way?" she asked and smiled at Nikole. "Shall we go left ... or right?" She pointed each way as she said it.
