Acelin was skipping through the corridors of Hogwarts one sunny Saturday afternoon. It was a bright sunny day and every so often she skipped through a warm beam of sunlight streaming through them. She enjoyed skipping, it was lots of fun and good exercise. She always had lots of energy and skipping along was the best way to expend some of her pent up energy.

As Maria walked down the corridor she saw that she was walking towards a girl who was skipping skipping. She laughed a little at this. When she got closer she saw that the girl was a Ravenclaw who was in her year, but Maria couldn't quite remember the name.
As the girl got even closer, Maria moved out of her way. Standing against the wall still laughing a little at the site of a fifth year skipping down the corridor, she decided to just wait until the girl was gone to continue on.

A Hufflepuff had materialised at the end of the corridor now and Ace carried on skipping towards her. She grew closer and she noticed she was about the same year as she. Acelin looked at her face, a happy smile on her face, and recognised her but couldn't remember where. The girl stood aside for her and Ace skipped past but skidded to a halt a foot away and spun around.
"You're in my Defence Against The Dark Arts class, aren't you?" She had just remembered where she had seen the Hufflepuff she had never spoken to before. Ace smiled widely at her and held out her hand. "Hi," she said with her heavy Irish accent, advancing on her, "I don't believe we've been introduced. I'm Acelin McKnight."

Maria shook the girl's hand with friendly smile. "Yes, I do believe, I am. Maria, Maria Turolia." Having noticed the girl's accent Maria thought for a moment. "Lovely accent," she said with a smile. She was really bad at knowing what accent was from what part of Britain. She was from Spain, so to her it was all the same.
"Let me guess...hmm...Scottish?" she said with a very skeptical look on her face. She was very uncertain of that answer. "Wait...maybe Irish. Okay, I have no clue," she admitted with a shrug.

Acelin smiled at Maria. "I like your name," she said, her accent thick. And when the Hufflepuff noted her accent Ace laughed. It wasn't often that her accent was recognised but it always made her laugh. Maria guessed where she was from and got it wrong. Ace laughed again. When she got a right, Ace bobbed her head and grinned.
"That's right," she said, "Ireland is me home and where I've been all my life." She looked gleefully at Maria and noted her accent. "But it sounds to me like you're not from these isles. Where are you from?" Ace was never much good at guessing games and wasn't nearly as brave as Maria to try and even guess.

Maria smiled. At least it had only taken her two guesses to get it right even if she wasn't certain of it. "No, I'm not from the isles," she said with a smile. "I'm was born in Spain. Moved to London at an early age," she said with a smile.
"I was born in Barcelona," Maria said with a big smile. She had always loved her that city. It was beautiful, and she would have much rather stayed there than moved to Britain. Except then she would have had to been around her whole family, and they weren't her favorite people in the world. As she thought of them her smile faded for a moment, but quickly returned.

Acelin clicked her fingers and grinned at Maria. "I knew it," she said excitedly, then added quickly with a laugh, "well I more guessed then anything else but you know what I mean." She laughed again.

Marie laughed a little. "Yeah, I know what you mean," she said with a smile. She thought for a moment before asking curiously, "Okay, you're Irish, but what city are you from?" She was just wondering if the girl was from a small town or a larger city.

Acelin grinned at the Hufflepuff with whom she shared some classes. She could hardly understand why they had not spoken before. Their conversation came easily and seemed pleasant to sustain. This made Ace smile brightly at the girl as a cloud drifted over the sun and blocked the sun for a moment. Ace turned, frowning, and glared out the window. "It's amazing how much difference the sun makes." This was an arbitrary observation.
When the sun came out from behind the cloud, Ace grinned and turned to Maria, grinning. "I live in Kerry, in a small town called Knights Town. It's beautiful there. We have a house on the sea side and waking up every morning to the smell of bacon and salty sea is something I miss while I'm here." She became lost in thought: thoughts of home, of mum, of the beach where she had spent so much time. Coming back to herself, she grinned an even bigger smile at Maria. "How is Barcelona? Pa always said it was hot during the summer."

Maria looked out the window and said rather absentmindedly, "Yes, amazing..." She pulled her attention quickly back to the girl as she spoke of her hometown. Maria smiled as she realized that this girl was as found of Kerry as Maria was of Barcelona.Maria thought for a moment about the heat of a Barcelona summer.
She smiled as she replied. "Yes, I do suppose it gets rather warm, but you grow accustomed to it quickly." She had never paid very much attention to the heat the beauty of the city had always captivated Maria so. "And besides the heat is an excellent excuse to go to the beach. The beaches are wonderful," she said with a smile. "Full of muggles, but if you look hard enough you can find a secluded little spot," she said with a nod, thinking about the beaches that stayed backed with tourists.

Ace smiled at Maria as she spoke of her hometown. She was clearly as attatched to it as she was to Knights Town. Ace chuckled lightly at the thought that she had something in common with a Hufflepuff except a crush on a boy. "Beaches in general are wonderful places," she said and looked absently out the window. "When I've got me own house," Ace said dreamily, "it's going te be on the sea side. A nice quiet spot, away from muggles."

Maria sighed a bit at the thought of a secluded seaside house. "Sounds lovely," she said with a smile. She had always wanted to live on a Spanish beach somewhere. Never, had she planned on staying in Britain after school.
"Acelin," Maria said looking over at her and noticing the dreamy expression on her face. "You seem like a very, um, dreamy person," she said not being able to think of a better word to describe it. "You seem rather absentminded at times."

Ace, staring off again, smiled gaily at Maria. "It is lovely," she said. She noticed a thread on her dress coming out. She quickly pulled on it and grinned as it quickly snapped off. She held up the thread to her eye level and smiled. "There ya go." She put the small thread in her pocket.
She glanced over at Maria when she said her name and she laughed when Maria said she was dreamy. Ace had always been, as Maria put it, a dreamy person but this was to the best of her knowledge the first time someone had pointed it out. Ace patted Maria on the shoulder and nodded. "I am, indeed," she chuckled and grinned. "And you could do with a bit of dreaming yourself!" She was joking with Maria now, always a good thing.
