"Understandable," Adriana said with a nod as Charlie said he probably hadn't known her brother. There were, after all, quite a few Ravenclaws in total. "Farmers huh? What did they grow?. Well, my parents are both wizards though I do have a Muggle uncle." She chuckled slightly. Her uncle was usually the butt of family jokes, but she realised that Charlie probably wouldn't find them quite as funny as she and her family normally did. "Uh... So, my dad is a Wizarding Wireless Network announcer, just a local one. My mum just stays at home, paints sometimes. She's a good painter too." She smiled and shrugged her shoulders. "My grandfathers both worked in the ministry though. Uh... One was in the er... Department of Magical Catastrophes and the other was in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement." She shrugged again, feeling as though she may have said too much.
Searching for something else to say, she glanced quickly around the room and saw her school books. "Ugh," she groaned, not being able to contain herself. "If I ever have to write another paper, and I know I will, I think I might be sick. Don't the professors ever get tired of reading all of it? I don't think I could ever be a professor. I don't have the patience." She sighed again, a good-natured sigh this time. "Have you ever thought about what you'd want to after Hogwarts?"

"Yup they grew almost everything, corn and soybeans mostly, its good hard honest work." Charlie replied with respect for his father and grandfather. "I liked farming when I was growing up, and I wanted to be a farmer, but once I was introduced to magic I don't think I could do it." Then, remembering he hadn't made a move, commanded his knight to move in its "L" shape up. "Well, I can't really give you any great advice about the endless stream of papers and essays except to just stick it out." Charlie replied, being able to relate with her "Nothing you can really do about it, I guess it will all be worth it in the end." Charlie replied not at all convinced by his own advice.

"I had better be," Adriana sighed. "Um... Let's see..." She starred down at the board a little flustered. She couldn't remember whether she was allowed to move her bishop now. Hesitantly, she told her bishop to go diagonally a couple spaces. It did so, much to her amazement. She'd done something right again and that made her quite happy with herself. She grinned stupidly. "Well, if I know one thing for sure, it's that I don't think it would be beneficial for me to be a professional chess player. But I suppose I'm only getting better," she said. "So, I know this is probably a weird question but what's it like? To be from a Muggle family, I mean. I know you're only from half a Muggle family, but it's always fascinated me."

Before replying, Charlie moved his knight into position so on the next turn he could take Adriana's bishop. "Well you arent the first person around here that has asked me that." He replied with a small smile, "Honestly I dont think it is all that different. There really isnt a alot you can do with magic untill you actually learn it when you come here." He paused, with a look around the room "I knew what magic was, my mom showed me a few things now and again, but I didnt really think much of it until I actually started doing it myself." He knew it probably wasn't as facinating as Adriana was hoping, but it was the truth.

"Oh," Adriana said simply. "Well, that's neat. Do you... Do you mind if I ask where you come from? I was thinking that corn and soybeans aren't something that grown around her for the most part. Are you... Are you from America then?" She was a a little hesitant to ask. Sometimes people where a little sensitive with personal questions like that and she wasn't sure whether that was the case here or not. To be honest though, Charlie's childhood didn't seem nearly as fascinating as she'd always imagined it must be to grow up as a Muggle. Then again, he was only a half-Muggle after all.
Not noticing that her bishop was in any sort of trouble, she moved another pawn forward a space putting it into position to take one of Charlie's pawn. She thought herself quite clever and even smiled to herself. "I come from Yorkshire myself," she said, trying to draw his attention away from the pawn he was about to lose (and still not noticing her bishop was in trouble). "Just outside of Bordley. It's just a tiny little village." She shrugged her shoulders and looked at him expectantly as she awaited his next move.

Maeve walked into the common room slightly tired. The only way to make friends is to talk to peopleShe thought. She saw two people playing chess and thought that it could be the perfect opportunity to make friends. She walked over to the two people and said shyly "Do you mind if I watch?" She realized that they had been talking. She then added, "Sorry if I've interrupted..." She stood there waiting for the ok.

Derek didn't have much else to do. So he decided to watch two younger Ravenclaw play Wizard Chess. "Um, do you mind if I watch?" asked Derek. He might of interrupted something. Seconds later, a Ravenclaw third year came over and said," Do you mind if I watch?" then, she quickly added,"Sorry if I interrupted.".... Together, he and the third year girl waited for an ok to watch.

Maeve realized there was another Ravenclaw there. He looked like he was older than herself, possible a 7th year. "Hi, I didn't see you there." She smiled. Maeve was shy but could act outgoing, most of the time. "What's your name? Mine's Maeve," she said pleasantly.
