Nikole walked into the common room with her book in hand. It was quiet, the perfect place to read. She walked over to a chair by the fire and sat down. She opened her book and sat her bookmark on the chair arm. She started reading enjoying the warmth of the fire.

Acelin stumbled down the last few steps from the girls dorm. She had a book in one hand and wasn't watching where she was walking. As she flopped onto the floor like a sack of potatoes, the book flew high in the air and landed on the head of someone sitting in a chair by the fire place.
Ace quickly pushed herself up, groaning at her hurts, and ran over to the girl. "I'm so sorry," she said, her accent thick, "I missed the last few steps." She took the book off the girls head and smiled apologetically. "I didn't mean to bother you."

Nikole smiled at the girl. "It's perfectly alright." From the looks of the girl she was older than Nikole. "I'm Nikole, by the way," she said. She looked at the book the girl had to try and read the title, but couldn't quite see it.

Warren yawned sleepily as he wandered down the staircase. He had been working on a transfiguration paper for the majority of the evening, before deciding a small break was in order.
When he reached the bottom of the stairs, he quirked an eyebrow wonderingly. A girl seemed to have thrown a book on another's head.
Deciding he'd better not question it, he sat across from them and opened his own novel. "Evening," he said shortly, crossing his legs indian-style on the armchair as he began to read.

Nikole looked over at the boy who had come down and sat nearby. She had seen him before, but couldn't quite place a name. For a moment, she considered whether or not to disturb him, and finally decided she would. "Hello," she said in her usual cheery manner. "What are reading?" She put the bookmark back into the book she was reading and closed it, because now she knew there was no way she was going to be able to focus enough to read.

Acelin laughed at how clumsy she could be and sank into a chair next to Nikole. "It's good te meet ya, Nikole," she said, her accent resonating, "I'm Acelin." She was flipping through the pages of her book when a boy joined them. "Evening yourself," she said playfully, only just glancing up from her book.
"Ah, there we are," she set her book mark in it's place too, closing the book. "Oh, it's a romance novel," she said as though it were such a silly thing. "The Oceans Between by JR McFerson. And what are you reading?" she enquired, looking at the her book.

Nikole looked down at her book. "Oh, just a book on magical creatures. The one subject that gives me a bit of trouble,"she said with a sigh. This was true; Nikole very rarely had to study, but for some reason she just could not make herself learn much about magical creatures.

Acelin frowned at her. "Trouble with Care of Magical Creatures?" she repeated, her accent thicker then usual, "that is a bummer. I've always found Divinations to be tricky but that's just me." She looked down at her romance novel. Ace began to feel slightly guilty about not having tried to improve on her Divinations, studying it would have helped, I guess, she thought.
