Offley poured over the different books she had spread about the table, the library was always empty on days like this, it was the weekend, the sun was shinning bright out side and the option of going into Hogsmeade village was better then sitting in the library working. With a sigh she turned over another heavy page of a potion book searching for some use of the Vervain leaf.
With a sigh she sat back on the chair and stretched her arms up into the air letting her back click and the pain slowly fade away. She had been working for 3 hours and still the only reference she found was a muggle theory that it stopped rashes on the skin, it would work if she did not have anything else but she wanted something exiting. Rubbing the tip of her nose with her quill Offley looked around the empty library and the patterns the dust made as it floated past the rays of light that came flooding in through the window.
Her new job was very quite, she had only talked to three students as she kicked them out for causing a book to burst into flames and the only other friendly face she saw was her old school friend Dan Hubbles, although he had changed a lot since she had known him. With a long sigh that rang out around the library Offley lowered her gaze back to her books.

Time slowly ticked by sometimes, but not when the exams were looming, it seemed to fly through Sophie's fingers like dust, she just didn't have enough of it; so much to do with so little time to accomplish everything; she was particularly beginning to worry about Defence Against the Dark Arts, she was adequately prepared for practical work, but the written exam was another kettle of fish. Yet often when she did get down to some reading of notes they became instantly boring and tedious. In short, she just couldn't win.
It was a glorious day and yet she had to squander it here, between the dusty volumes, but then she noticed they weren't actually filthy with accumulated grime and mothballs, no they were actually quite clean. Shocked for a moment it quickly came to her, with the excitement, or rather stresses of the exams she had clean forgotten that a new librarian had been employed. She couldn't wait to meet her; rumour ahd it she wasn't half as bad as the old one, but then again they had been an old hag completely patronised about having absolute silence at all times. It had been far too pedantic. As she wondered what the new librarian would be like Sophie entered the library noiselessly; she'd spent seven years off and on, in here and knew it but didn't love it, like the back of her hand. Hearing a rather loud sigh echoe throughout the premesis Sophie guessed she wasn't nearly so strict as her predecessor; thankfully. Stepping lightly Sophie made her way quickly over to a vacant table, which was practically all of them besides where the librarian sat pouring over many a book. Smiling Sophie took a table nearby, setting out her own books Sophie greeted, Miss Marsh she thought her name was, brightly "Hiya," she called merrily waving once then taking her seat to commence her long hours of study; she wondered curiously how the librarian would react.

At the sound of another voice Offley dropt her quill and looked up around the Library feeling rather shocked. The voice was friendly, it was very rare she heard a friendly voice in her job especially directed at her. Finally Offley realised that the Gryffindor girl was sitting in front of her was indeed the one who greeted her. With a small smile at first Offley was about to greet her when she realised that her books and pieces of parchment had taken up too much room.
“Oh duck, sorry you have no room to commence your studying. I shall just organise myself better, I am not even using half of these books. It is very rude of me to be consuming so much room with all these miscellany items.”
After carefully closing some of the large text books, placing all the sections of parchment into a neat pile and making empty tea cups vanish the tables finally looked presentable. With a small smile and tucking some lose ends of red hair behind her ear Offley looked back at Sophie.
“There you go duck. You can spread out now, your educational advancements are a lot more important then my book. For if you do not qualify and get a high paying job I will have no one to purchase it.”
Offley gave a rather light hearted giggle and sat back on her chair, looking around the empty library. She could not comprehend why students would rather lounge around in the sun, instead of expanding their knowledge and using their imagination to enter realms that are personal to that single person.
