Chuckling wryly and instantly finding a witticism from Dax's words Will replied quickly with a bark of a laugh "yeah you need to secure one girl before you can have two!" But Dax's other words had been slightly more effective in detering Will's onslaught of anger. "Wha d'you mean by that? Soph brought you here?" He turned his attention to Soph for a moment with a quizzical look. Getting nothing in reply except keeping her eyes downcast, he glared once more at Dax thinking he spoke for Sophie he said "Soph is never near you anyways, dunno what ya mean, and yeah you could have gone away, but no, you have to keep preying on her mind, she hasn't been the same since that last ruddy...confrontation," He muttered struggling to find the right word for that stupid kiss. Why Dax had done it he would never understand. Unsure of what to say next, he just blarted out the first thing that popped into his head, not quite the wisest words. "Aren't you in love with Loren eh?" Biting his tongue to stop himself adding or does she not love you?. Looking at Sophie and deciding to ignore Dax he reached gingerly across and shook her shoulder "wakey wakey," he called "you're missing all the fun," She did seem quite dejected.

Sophie had sat forlornly gazing out of the nearest window wishing she was anywhere else on earth but here between these two. As they spoke angry and hurtful words to each other, Will being particularly mean she was quite glad their attention didn't linger on her. Sighing and feeling rather upset by the rash words being flung she tried to block them out, but they entered all too easily into her mind, now set in stone to be remembered by her for a long time to come. It was quite unlikely the two boys would remember it of course they soon forgot past troubles but didn't forgive. Trying to keep low profile and stay out of the dispute she coloured when Dax discovered the reason why he was drawn there. Will had not been amused by that and probably thought he had jumped to her defence when he spoke, how arrogant he was. Thus far Dax had been the most gentlemanly by far even going so far as to look apologetically at her from time to time. Even his words were far kinder than Will's who was quite clearly struggling with his angry emotions. Now she surmised it was the time to come clean with the two and admit her appareent cleverness at luring Dax there. But no smile graced her lips as she looked serenely at the two. In a low voice she began keeping a watchful eye on their facial expressions.
"Ma, maybe I did lure Dax here, but only to sort things out," she cried "I only wanted things to be out in the open," Seeing Will's shocked look, of course he would get the wrong end of the stick. "Not like that Will," she moaned exasperatedly. "You never properly listen Will, but Dax can for a moment or two at least," She admitted wanting sorely to laugh a little. "Calling this fun is exactly the comment I expect from you Harris," she sighed darting a furtive glance at Dax hoping he would back her up.

Dax felt his cheeks burn red when Sophie went on about him being a good listener. He did pay attention to what she had said, however he was more involved in his own problems at the time. When she shot him a glance of support he did not know what to say. Looking over at Will, Dax’s eyes explained it all. He was full of confusion and really did not know how to respond.
“It is not fun. We are at each others neck for something that is not happening. I’m sorry for causing you pain Will. In my mind the kiss was not a big deal. None of us were seeing anyone at the time, although WE all have feelings for others. But I wanted to say goodbye to Sophie, I never got the chance after you…you went off with her. That hurt me so much but I never challenged you to a duel, I never shouted at you when I saw you hugging. I let it go.”
To his own surprise Dax did to feel the need to show any emotion, over the past few weeks he had shown enough. This topic no longer hurt him, well at least with out the mention of a certain Ravenclaw.

Will looked aghast at Dax, he really was taking the biscuit, everytime he did the slightest wrong he would bring that up, "Soph just loves me more," he said simply as if that solved all the issues. "You always bring that up Dax," he muttered feeling more exasperated than annoyed now, slowly his anger was simmering down and his tirade was over, even he knew he had acted foolishly but it was in his nature to be confrontational. "What d'y a mean by feelings Dax," he asked feeling rather confused, did Dax know something he didn't? "Well the thing wasn't a big deal cause it looked pretty rubbish, but it's just you suddenly doin it is all" he muttered running a hand lovingly through his hair grinning; in a way that plainly said he was becoming more confused and uncomfortable by the minute.

Dax reframed himself from banging his head on the table. This was hard work. Rubbing his temple Dax tried to understand what Will was getting at. He was either jealous, being protective or simple being naive. He could not work out which, was it all three of them. Did Will like Sophie and so was envious of the relationship Dax had with her or was he worried Dax would only hurt her. It hurt his brain to think about it.
With a sigh Dax stopped thinking and looked over to see Sophie looking almost as bewildered as he was. “Look Will, I do not know what ticks through your complex mind, but I can tell you this…you wish it was you. You wish that you had kissed Sophie and then see the pain your showing of feelings had on others. You act the fool, but also the hero. I tool no joy in what happened that day.”
With a sharp glare Dax did not look away from Will, he watched every movement and listened to every sound Will made. Dax had just about had enough and he said anything out of place Dax was ready to pounce.

Dax's words didn't sink into Will, if anything they had somehow confused him even more. Or more like it; he didn't want to admit to his feelings, especially in front of Sophie herself, she might use the information against him he thought uselessly, really he was just making excuses. Looking somewhat gobsmacked once more he simply stared dumbly, not at Dax now but at Sophie. She really was beautiful he thought as he always did on seeing her. Though telling her that would simply inflate her ego, and it wasn't as if she ever complimented him. Grumbling under his breath he said "you insufferable know it all, why'd you think you're always right?" Though it was quite clear he was right in this case, Will was just so loathe to admit it. "I'm not a fool," he said his pride somewhat, even though he did act the fool purposelessly at times. "Anyways why'd I want to be like you? You were a total idiot, your chances with Loren are totally..." but he recieved unexpected resistance with a sudden interuption...

"William," screamed Sophie angrily having decided now was the time to intervene before the two severed aquaintances all together, they really were giving it their all, but at least Dax was a little more rational, Will just seemed to blart out whatever he felt; damning the consequences. Giving a little sigh she thought boys will be boys and began the uphill struggle of sorting them out. "learn when to shut up Will, his chances are far greater than yours with anybody," She said synically with a hint of bitterness. She really did despise Will at the moment, he could be just so irritating and inconsiderate. Though Dax was really one to deal out advice when his relationships weren't exactly ticking along nicely. "The two of you just think relationships are a competition, with certain rules attached, feelings are so much more than that, nobody can help them, they are what they are. The sooner you come to terms with that the better." Taking a deep breath she concluded "why don't we all just kiss and make up, not an actual kiss Will," she muttered as a hungry look spread across his face. "let's just forgive and forget, and for god's sake Will, if you love someone do something about it," She finished in a rush beginning to blush slightly and fearing to look at either lad.

Rather startled by Sophie's sudden reaction and harsh words, he glared at her thinking who said you could speak?. He turned from Dax and looked with pure confusion at Sophie, though he wouldn't admit it; some of her words had rung true, he did see dating and relationships as a mere competition and one he so often won. "I do not," he muttered angrily seemingly in answer to all that had been said. Scowling he looked away wondering why she had reason to blush at all, though the outburst was rather strange, of late she had been far quieter, at least around him. Grumbling he looked at Dax and saw a similar expression to his own. "They aren't a competition" he muttered lamely but brigthened slightly when he thought of a comeback "but if they were then of course I'd win," he joked grinning once more. This conversation was just confusing him most thoroughly. "Who do I love anyway?" He asked puzzled latching onto something he thought he could handle.
