"You really love her don't you?.... You'd better not cheat on her Dax”
Dax could not help put smile grimly when Sophie pointed this out. He tried to laugh but it was swallowed up and turned into a chocking noise. Every breath he took in it turned into a painful gasp. With a quick cough Dax managed to clear his throat so that at least his words would come out. “I do not think there is anything to cheat on. Loren can not stand the sight of me and I do not blame her….Sophie you’re a girl? How would…How should I approach Loren. What can I say to her?”
Dax Rested his cheek on the top of Sophie’s head and closed his eyes. He had told himself he would over come it, he had started the day ready to forget the past but now, sitting with someone he had once loved made the pain fresh once more. He needed to find a way to end it, a way to move on.

It seemed the tables were eventually turning back to Sophie's favour now. "Oh thankyou Dax, indeed I am a girl, but we're not all stereotypical, what goes through Loren's mind I cannot begin to imagine, but if I were in her position, she's just not sure of you now, after your stupidity," She laughed "oh I shouldn't be mean, but really what were you thinking kissing me, she will think you're not faithful, just going along with a whim, you've got to persuade her otherwise," She patted Dax affectionately "you've just got to talk, tell her how you feel, the truth mind, we hate lies, but you've also got to be incredibly romantic, not cheesy, but most of all you've got to have a feeling inside of you, that you're the one," She rested her head once more on his shoulder feeling the shuddering erupting from his body, he was really quite nervous just on the topic of Loren, in front of her she knew he was even worse. "Just be honest, you love her that much it should help, kissing her that well should help to mind," she teased feeling at total ease in his company.

Stroking the back of Sophie’s hair he could not help put wonder himself. Why did he kiss her? Yes he had his argument of wanting to tie off the lose ends but in hindsight he knew it was the wrong thing to do. “Soph, if I could answer that question I do not think I would be sitting here now. You might as well argue why didn’t I ask Loren out on a date? Why did I not make it clear to her how much she meant to me.”
Dax expect the tears to start rolling once more, but this time nothing happened. He simple sat still, holding onto Sophie like his life depended on it. Dax did not want to let go, with Sophie there he felt safe. A few students scuttled past, Dax would give them a glare and they would soon leave the library. The silence between the two started to become uncomfortable as they sat breathing in sequence. Dax knew he had to break the silence, and try and make the atmosphere less tense.
“So then your ideal man would be a Boggleworth character. A true gentleman. The kind of guy everyone loves”

It seemed Dax still was incredibly boyish he hadn't properly listened to her at all, otherwise he would have had more of a clue. But at least he'd done better than most lads really. Remaining silent for many moments pondering on here current situation with Will she was quite satisfied to rest there, feeling eminently comfortable and at ease, but of course Dax couldn't abide the golden silence. "You just did the wrong thing Dax, no matter how many times you claim you're sorry, Loren will probably just take a while to believe and trust you once more, if she ever did." She smiled as she remembered the few times she had ever met Boggleworth or Bog as he was always known, at least by Gryffindors, "he's a good friend of yours isn't he, I don't know him too well, but yeah I'd say his sort of character I suppose, it does help that he's attractive too," she admitted, "he's also really faithful isn't he? Which is what girl's want, but don't put yourself down, everyone likes you too, you're popular really," she said begrudgingly not wanting to inflate his ego.

Dax shifted in his seat as Sophie mentioned about him being popular. “The thing is which Dax do they like? The immature one who runs around with Will acting as if we are 4 or the Dax sitting here in the Library.”
He would have shrugged but he was still fully aware of Sophie leaning on his shoulder. With a small smile Dax thought about the situation he was in at the moment. Here he was sitting with one of the most attractive girls in the school, in a position that many guys would kill be in. But all he could think about was ‘time’. Maybe Loren was right, they did need time. Dax needed to be strong and try to move on but the situation was so complicated that it was on his mind all day and all night and he could not let his mind and aching heart rest. If only he could be doing this with Loren, sitting in each others arms, talking.
“Patience is a virtue. One that I guess I will need to learn.”

Sophie was pleasantly happy in Dax's arms, she knew that Will would never do such a simple thing, he was always on the go, could never really sit still for any length of time. "We like both sides of you, I know which one I personally prefer," She said with a small laugh. Though she couldn't see Dax's face she knew it would be clearly visible that he was worried, and totally absorbed in his tiff with Loren, at least it showed he cared for her though. "It's a virtue few people have really," she murmered "and I don't you'll ever be satisfied till you've tried your best to get her back, but were you actually going out?" She asked giggling, "how'd you even know her? Is it just a warm fuzzy feeling inside, forgiving them all their wrongs, and feeling at total peace with them?" She sighed, thinking of her own situation. "Why won't they ever notice or care about us Dax?" She asked a tear trickling down her cheek once more.

Dax could not help put laugh lightly at Sophie’s questions. She actually had a point, both Dax and Loren were creating such a fuss over something that never was there. In a slow whisper Dax let out everything.
“No. We were never going out. In fact we never even told each other how we felt. I suppose it was guess work from the signs we gave to each other. The only Loren told me she liked me she slapped me and stormed out the Hall in tears. It broke my heart to see her so upset and I could not bring myself round to admit that I had caused the pain. I tried to blame everyone but myself and then when I realised it was all my fault I have been unable to live with myself.”
Dax broke off and remained silent for a few seconds, he was trying to get his thoughts straight. How he would describe the feeling she felt for Loren. “It is just that everytime she smiles at me or even looks at me, an explosion happiness inside of me. I can not help put burst with happiness. Every moment I spent with her is a moment in heaven. I do not think warm and fuzzy sums it up. When I liked you, that was warm and fuzzy…this…this is like a volcano erupting everytime a catch a glance of her.”
He gave a small laugh, Dax could not believe that he had just blurted out his true emotions to Sophie of all people.

Listening intently to Dax's words she wondered the full truth of them. But he seemed entirely sincere and she would take the words at face value, he had most definitely changed for the better, but by how much she couldn't guess. Dax's comments had been so sweet about Loren, it seemed he really did love her, though the comparison she most definitely didn't like, feeling slighly jealous that his love for her had been so much less, she sniffed slightly but was determined to not well up anymore. "I can't quite believe you love her so, I do so hope she returns it," she said not wanting to get Dax's spirits up falsely. "Awe you're just so sweet the way you say it though, just say this to her, and don't start stuttering like usual," she teased. Laughing she confided "you know, I thought that kiss had really meant something, though I'm glad it doesn't, I am in fact glad you did it, cause you've both realised your true feelings about each other," she smiled without any real warmth or compassion now, giving a little sigh and wishing her love with Will was so strong.

Talking of the devil did make him appear, as in strode Will, unfortunately for Sophie there had been one major flaw in her plan, this was the obvious place for Will to find her. Twas her usual hideaway at the moment and Will did sorely need to speak to her. About some Charms homework that he wished to copy. Strolling in as happy as can be his mischeveous mood was soon to be amplified tenfold. Immediately espying Sophie with Dax he gaped for a few moments, his blood curdling, luckily for him, they were sat with there backs to him. It did so seem that they were in each others arms too. He couldn't quite believe it, complete idiots he thought grating his teeth in frustration, how can they do this to me? He thought wildly, being as self centered as ever. Resisiting the first urge to yelp then demand another duel with Dax, and this time he would beat him proper, he instead thought a moment. A mischeveous plan soon formed in his mind; two can play at his game. Skipping over to them apparently happy he bounded in front of them "oh hello lovebirds," he said brightly "having fun snogging away there?" He said ironically, his plan of teasing them already slipping through his fingers as his anger built up. "Sophie can advise Loren on how best to kiss you is that it?" He said glaring at Dax but smiling wildly. Smashing his fist down onto the table he gaped at the pair of love obsessed freaks.

The sound of Wills voice floated into Dax’s ears, he felt Sophie jump in shock and Dax’s grip around Sophie tightened. This was his worst fear, he should have really guessed Will would show up due to the letter. Raising his head off Sophie’s Dax looked at the anger stuck face of the Gryffindor.
“Hello Will. I believe you wanted to see me. I got the letter this morning.”
Dax was finding it hard not to break into a gibberish sentence full of stuttering. With a rather weak smile he listened to Will, however as Will mentioned Loren’s name Dax could not help but let out a laugh. Removing his arms from around Sophie, Dax stretched his arms into the air and lowered them to his side.
“You really think Loren would listen to either me or Sophie. I’m rather lucky that Soph had forgiven me.”

Sophie visibly jumped on hearing Will's voice, it made her heart flutter, and even produced a small scream. Trying not to seem so very shocked, it was in fact quite clear as her hands shook uncontrollably and her stomach gave a churn. Giving a quick glance to Dax who seemed to be coping with the situation admirally, in comparison to her at least. Her head had shot up at Will's approach but she didn't want to let go of Dax, the furious expression upon Will's brow scared her, she knew exactly what he was capable of. As Dax pulled away and acted supremely confident she gave a tiny inaudible whimper and looked away, missing his comfort already. Visibly shaking she clutched at Dax but agreed wholeheartedly with him, "yeah," she said softly feeling quite powerless all of a sudden, and also quite forgotten about two as the two lads stared each other down.

Will looked puzzeled at Sophie, she was obviosuly terrified for some reason, feeling a notch of pity for her, he pushed it from his mind and glared once more at Dax, "What letter? What the hell are you on about?" He asked angrily, feeling an urge to smack Dax round the head, why was he acting so cool about this? Was it planned? he wondered furiously. standing in utter agitation and quite distracted he rolled his eyes at Sophie's weak confirmation, why is she acting weird? he wondered. Suddenly so many questions had pourd into his mind and he found himself on edge, but he would of course do his best to hide it and take complete control over the situation, soon Dax would be stuttering away. "Not talking to her are we Dax? I wonder whose fault that is?" He grated sarcastically, usually it would have been a simple tease, but this was more than banter and was becoming personal. But he couldn't help but wonder why he was so annoyed. "You want two girls at once eh Dax? That's adventurous, even for you." Resisting the huge urge to take out his wand and blast Dax all the way to hell where he so belonged he grated his teeth in frustration.

Dax looked up at Will, seeing the frustration his friends eyes he knew something was not right in his head. Wanting to be able to talk to the Gryffindor in a clam manor, Dax tried to stand up. However he had the problem that Sophie was clinging onto him, her grip was go tight that Dax pulled her out of her chair as he stood up. Trying not to laugh he reached down and forced to hands off his robes.
“Will trust me there…there is nothing for…for you to start getting angry over. Me and Soph were….I…She was upset and I comforted her. I gave her a shoulder to cry on, literally.”
He pointed his shoulder, which was shinning from the slobber and snot on it. He gave Will a small comforting smile. Dax had to try and regain his composure. The pressure was starting to get to him, he was stuttering and he had no reason to be. He was telling the truth.

William glared most profusely at Dax, hoping his sheer expression would deter Dax still further. For some unfathomable reason he felt quite protective of his best friend. "Why the hell shouldn't I be angry Dax!," he shouted feeling his temper get the better of him. "You comforted her did you? Oh please, that's exactly how you win a girl over," he said angrily not realising the pain his words might cause. But he knew he would sorely regret all this later, his emotions just had the better of him. As Dax stood up to him, he prodded him violently in the chest as he uttered his words, as if Sophie wasn't even present. "You can't just leave the poor girl alone can you? Got to come and make her cry some more, make yourself feel so much better." He ignored Sophie completely now as he focused his pure fury on Dax. Little did he realise the root of all his problems was love.

Clearing his throat at the mention of ‘Winning a girl over’ Dax looked down at the table. This was typical Will, and from experience Dax knew how to handle him, however his mood today would make the task slightly trickier then normal. Raising his gaze back to the Gryffindor he tried to find the words and then hoped he would be able to coherently spit them out.
“I do not need to pick up another girl.” Dax’s voice turned into a low rumbles, his eyes narrowed as he stared at Will. “And by the sound of it Sophie brought me here. So really it is Sophie who can not keep away from me.”
Dax gave a small smile, but then it dawned on his what he had said. Hs eyes grew wise in horror and he turned to Sophie. “No….you had a good reason….I…I could have walked away….I do not blame you.”
There was no way that Dax could win. If he said one thing it would upset one person and then if he tried to redeem himself then it would anger the other. With a deep sigh he fell back in his chair.
