Willow was walking down the hallway on her way to class, she'd woken up this morning, had a good breakfast, and had managed to catch up on some reading.
She was walking to class after atempting to use a spell to tie her shoes, why she didnt just do it herself, however she knew it would be fun to not have to. She always loved doing things with magic, even things that were completley un-neccisary to do with magic. That idiotic book her mother had given her didnt help at all either it just had the incantation on the page, the picture for some reason was behind it. not like it could explain that in the book.
She was carrying her shoes that had been turned to stone and then broken off her feet so she could move in her left hand, her school stuff in her right. She had also just become aware that her socks never matched, as her mis-matched socks were exposed and the hole next to the big toe on her right foot suddenly became aware of a breeze in the hallway.

Nikole was walking quickly down the hallway to go to class. For some reason she was always afraid she was going to be late, even though there was no way she would be even close to be late on this day.
While walking she noticed a Hufflepuff girl, who if Nikole was right (she usually was) was the same year as her. After a moment she realized that the girl wasn't wearing any shoes. That fact alone put the typical look of disgust on Nikole's face, and the fact that her socks didn't even match and had holes in them made it all the worse. Nikole let out a loud sigh. It seemed that every Hufflepuff she met cared very little about their appearance. By this time she was beside the girl and hadn't even bothered to remove the look of disgust from her face.

Willow had always been a very organized person, always making sure to match. She had found it odd when she kept noticing that in her third year the one thing that didnt match were her socks, it was kindof fun breaking her own rules though. She looked at the girl near the same age as her and noticed the look of discust on her face. She looked at her and decided to say something, but she always had something to say.
"Umm, I usually wear shoes." she said knowing how awkward that was, but she always came to her own defense, however trying to sound remotley polite.

Nikole gave the girl a strange look for a moment, but it softened somewhat when she saw the stone's that appeared to be in the shape of shoes that the girl was carrying. "Bad spell?" she guessed pointing to the shoes. She looked back down at the girl's mismatched socks and then looked back up at her. "And just so you know, if you're going to have to go without shoes it would probably be best to wear matching socks," she said this knowing how rude she probably sounded, but just keep herself from saying it.

She smiled last year she would have hexed someones feet off if she saw them walking in the halls without shoes. This year, it didnt really matter, she knew she was relativley attractive no matter what.
She smiled at the girl "yes, bad spell the bloody book my mom gave me, and I understand where you're coming from. I think it adds character." she said smiling from ear to ear, it was funny to see this girl acting just like she would have not too long ago.

Nikole could not believe this girl. She was so pleased with herself that it didn't matter that she looked quite awful walking around without shoes and socks that didn't match. Nikole couldn't help but let out a little laugh at this. "What were you trying to do to your shoes that you managed to turn them to stone?" she asked looking at the "shoes" again.
"And I guess it's your style your opinion on whether or not to wear matching clothes," she said with a sigh looking down at the girl's feet again. "Don't you have any other shoes?" Nikole enquired after realizing that if it were herself who this had happened to that she would just put on a different pair of shoes.

Willow giggled a little and looked at the girl. "I'm Willow, I dont believe I stated that before. And just so you know, I like my socks and I'm very comfertable with myself. Besides I'm not really looking for any boy and if a boy doesnt like me for me, then I dont need him." she said smiling.

"Okay," Nikole said with a little laugh. She had been trying so hard to stop judging people on their appearance, and so far it wasn't going so well. However she was determined, so she decided to be nice to Willow. "Well, Willow it's lovely to meet you. I'm Nikole." She thought for a moment. "So where are you headed?" she asked curiously.

She smiled. "Well I just got out of defense against the dark arts," she smiled and rubbed her belly. "I left my other shoes on the quidditch pitch the other day because they had grass all over them and needed to dry after I washed them, So i was going to head down there since I dont have a class for the rest of the day, and then throw away these useless things." she said smiling.

Nikole thought to herself for a moment before speaking. "Well, if you would like some company, I could always come with you. Personally, I'm not the type of person that likes to be alone. And we could get to know each other better and who knows. Maybe despite our many differences, which I'm sure there are many of," she said looking down at the girl's mismatched socks yet again. "we may be able to become friends," she said with a friendly smile. It was hard for Nikole to put aside her usual habit of judging people, but she was trying very hard.

She smiled. This girl seemed to be genuinly trying to overcome her judgement of me. Willow thought that was sweet. She smiled. "I'd love for you to come, And I'd love to be friends. I'm sure we wont find ourselfs as different as you think, yet different in many ways." She smiled. "So what is your family like?" she asked.

Nikole thought for a moment. How should she describe her family. "Well, I'm and only child. My parents are okay, I guess. They pretty much baby me and are supportive." She stopped and thought for another moment. Her family really wasn't all that interesting. In fact, they were quite boring. "So how about you?" she asked curiously,"What's your family like?"

she forced a little smile, and motioned with her head to start walking down to the pitch, then as she looked down and watched her feet as she walked she replied, "My Mom is great, shes a muggle, her sister is a witch and thats how she met my father who is a wizard, My dad died years ago, my mom is good about helping me with stuff like learning to fly and taking me to hang out with my cousins, I miss my dad though. I'm an only child aswell, I like it though, because my mom is my best friend." she was hoping not to shed any tears this time. her fathers death had been the single thing that could turn her world upside down. She was worried about her mother with the current state of the world.

Nikole quietly walked on for a moment. Comforting people was not her strong suit. Actually anything that had to do with emotions she was bad at. "That...." she started letting it trail off. "That's horrible," she managed, very unsure of what to say. It must be hard to be a witch, but just a muggle mother around.

She was worried, she never liked people to pitty her, but to really want to connect with her. She wasn't sure what Nikole was doing here. "It's not that bad, my mom is my best friend. She may be muggle but my aunt isnt, and I still have my dad right here." she said pointing to the left side of her chest where her heart was homed.
