Seeing as she couldn't get herself to sleep, Vanessa decided it best to roam the corridors rather aimlessly. Everyone in her house was alright to bed, seeing as it was about three in the morning. She'd have class the next day, not that she was paying any attention to that. Her night gown was a simple dress-like ensemble made of a smooth pink silk.
Her feet were bare, which was odd in her case. She couldn't stand being the least bit dirty, but perhaps it was the lack of sleep that made her pay it no attention. She brushed her straightened blonde hair out of her face, walking calmly down the corridors until... Squeak! She let out a small, frightened noise, her eyes showing how terrified she really was. Now, Nessa would have used magic by now, but..this thing was huge, and disgusting.
A giant spider stood before her, causing her to slowly back away. "Good little..buggy thing..," she whimpered aloud, wishing she had her wand at the ready.

Maria was walking around the corridors. She always loved exploring at night; it was quiet and there weren't many people around. She was still in her school robes as she heard a noise nearby. Rushing over to where she heard the noise she saw a girl confronted by a giant spider. She saw the girl backing away, so she pulled out her own wand. "Impedimenta," she said, putting her wand over the girl's shoulder toward the spider. With the spider slowed down, Maria grabbed the girl and pulled her into a nearby room, slamming the door behind them. "Are you okay?" she asked, listening at the door for sounds from the spider.

Nessa was about to make a run for it, which could have led to her death by the looks of that think. What was a giant spider doing on school grounds to begin with!? She was hating this place more and more everyday. Watching some girl run out in front of her she raised her eyebrows, watching closely as the girl jinxed the giant bug and pulled her to safety. Little did she know, it was a Hufflepuff that she claimed "saved her life".
"Oh-my-God, you saved my life!" The aristocrat exclaimed, hugging the girl tightly. After a moment she felt awkward however. Vanessa Valentine never hugged. "Wait, who the Hell are you?"

Shocked by the sudden hug, Maria took a moment to respond. "Umm....I'm Maria, Maria Turolia. And you are?" she asked turning her attention back to listening to the door where she could still hear the spider moving about outside. Chills ran through her. She looked back at the girl. "And I'm sure you would have managed out of that situation yourself if I hadn't come along," she said doubtfully.

Vanessa looked shocked by the girls response. She didn't know who the heir of the Valentine fortune, Slytherin elite with artisocratic immunity was. She was finding this incredibly hard to believe, and was apparently taken aback by it. "Vanessa Valentine, duh," she said, rolling her eyes.
"..and actually, no. I wouldn't have. I was actually thinking about running," she said, tilting her head to the side. "I left my wand back in my dorm, and I haven't completely mastered wandless magic yet," Nessa exclaimed, clearing her throat. "What house are you in, by the way?"

After finding out the girl’s name, Maria understood why she had been shocked Maria didn’t know her. Maria had heard of the girl’s family. However, she did not know that was who this girl was. Maria was still listening at the door as the sounds became fainter. “Hufflepuff, of course,” Maria said pointing to the crest on her robes. She could of course assume that this girl was in Slytherin, because of who she was. “And you probably shouldn’t be wandering around without a wand. It isn’t the smartest course of action,” she said trying not to sound rude.

When finding out the girls' house her expression quickly dropped, looking absoloutely repulsed by this new information. "Oh..," she trailed off. "That's..digusting," Vanessa added, narrowing her eyes and giving a shake of her head to show her dissaproval. "It's not like I planned on getting attacked by a giant spider walking through a bloody school hallway! God, I hate this place.." Vanessa found a puddle of water nearby and immediately began to check her reflection in it.

Maria couldn't help but laugh at the girl's reaction to finding out what house she was in. Completely forgetting about the spider for a moment, she looked at the girl, who was checking her reflection in a puddle of water. Immediately upon seeing this Maria had to stifle laughter. "Oh and why is my being in Hufflepuff so horrible?" she asked the laughter in her voice. "And here you should always be prepared for the worst, regardless."
