Leigh sat in the chair behind his desk, elbows placed upon his desk with his hands clasped together, allowing his head to rest on them. He felt nervous, anxiously waiting for the first students to arrive for the first class he would teach since his untimely death. Now revived and his face and life changed for as long as he was marked for death, he would live the life of his cousin, Octavious Everritt. Being the former DADA professor, he was skilled with magic, more so than with his knowledge of how to control wandless magic, though he never went further than the basic spells, though he could try.
He wanted to liven this class up, make it relaxed and open, but with the limit he has put onto it it would be small, only a few students would learn and hopefully they would be able to use it. He ventured a guess on how many more he would get over the initial five names he had on a list next to him. A smile crept across his face as he looked at those names and laughed lightly. This class may prove to be more challenging than he first thought.
He reached over to pick up the piece of parchment and reread the names, the smile remaining.
Mozess Mirari Erys Grace Effie Howard Angelique Juliette Girty Hubbles
The last name on the list made him swell with pride, a Hufflepuff he had the honor of teaching when he was his true self, a student in the House he respected the most. His mood soured ever so slightly when he noticed three out of the five names were Slytherins, but they would still learn.
He heard the door open suddenly, turning to see who it was and to see if it was a person on the list.

Ashton took a deep breath as he stepped into the room, he had seen the notice about wandless magic class but unfortunatley because of personal problems has not been able to sign up, and it looked like he was now going to have to ask Professor Everritt for direct permission to join the class. He entered the room and saw Professor Everrit looking at the door expectantly, as if he had known that someone was coming in. "Um, Professor Everritt?" he greeted softly, "I saw the notice about your class, but unfortunately I couldn't sign up at the moment, but I was wondering if you would still accept me into your class? I'm already quite adept with wandless as well as nonverbal magic, but I feel that I could still use some help." He waited quietly for Professor Everritt's anwer.

Leigh raised his chin slightly and smiled, the look on the boys face showed he was telling the truth, as well as great deal of nervousness. He nodded at the boy and waved him, standing behind his desk quickly.
'Now firstly, what is your name?' Leigh asked, his right hand opened towards the names list, a quill hovering over the piece of parchment ready to begin scribbling. 'Secondly, please show me what you're capable of. A simple demonstration of the Wingardium Leviosa spell on that chair right behind you should be enough for me to gauge you.'
'Alas, I am not a non-verbal magic professor, I am merely the Wandless Magic professor.' Leigh said, bowing his head slightly. He had to of come off a tad strange towards the Ravenclaw student.

Ashton smiled shyly. "Ashton" he stated, "Ashton McLane." Upon hearing the teacher's request he turned towards the chair, closing his eyes, he foccused on his magic, letting it fill him, then he opened his eyes. "Wingardium Leviosa." the chair slowly rose into the air, and began to float there suspended, as if held by some invisible string. Smiling Ashton gently lowered the chair to the floor. He turned back to Professor Everritt and waited nervously for the man's approval.

Watching intently, Leigh watched as Ashton raised the chair before him and lower it, the control not all that great but he saw potential to become far greater than he already was.
Leigh clicked his fingers and the floating quill over the parchment with the written names scribbled down Ashton's name. He didn't look at it nor smile at the students acceptance until he stood straight and crossed his arms over his chest, staring intently at Ashton. He waited several tense moments before finally speaking.
'You show promise.' Leigh said, sounding like Octavious. His serious face turned into a smile. 'You show simple control of this skill, which can be developed further in this class. I accept you into it.'
Leigh uncrossed his arms and bowed his head, the piece of parchment sliding itself up and dispersing into a shower of light sparks. Leigh had sent it away back to his office. It would appear back to him if someone else not on the list appeared in his class, the same test awaiting them as what Ashton had to do.
'You may take a seat, Ashton.' Leigh said, taking his own seat at once, the smile still on his face. He loved the feeling of teaching once more.

Kendall wondered if she'd be allowed in. For some reason she hadn't been able to sign up but she really wanted to take the class. She figured that maybe just maybe the professor would take pity on her. She tried to arrive as early as possible so that she could talk to him before the other students arrived. After she got there she noticed that there was another boy there but she looked around for the professor.
Spotting him she walked up more bravely than she felt but she had to act brave this time to get what she wanted.
'Hi, um Professor Everritt my Name is Kendal Montgomery sir I was hoping, wondering actually if you could possibly allow me into this class. I know there was a sign up sheet and all of that but I didn't have a change to put my name on it. I figured if maybe I came to talk to you that you might just have pity on me.'
Her dark eyes looked up at him hopefully while she smiled sweetly.

Leigh looked at the door as it opened, revealing a Hufflepuff girl entering. She looked to be only a Fifth Year, his heart sank deep into his chest. He would do anything to accept a Hufflepuff into his class but she was far too young.
Leigh sighed and stood, rounding his table to sit on the edge and look at the girl with a worried look on his face.
'I'm sorry, Kendal, but due to the Ministry restrictions on teaching students Advanced Magical classes, I am limited to only teaching students of Sixth Year and above.' He said, crossing his arms and felt his chest tighten. 'The Ministry will watch my class like a hungry hawk waiting for a mouse to appear in the field. I would accept you with no worries at all, but you need to be Sixth Year before I can let you try and perform a level of controlled wandless magic. This is my first class here, I don't want to be fired just yet, I do plan on being here for a few years to come.'
He had spoken the truth about the Ministry watching tightly, his own words echoing exactly what they had told him. Though he hated the Ministry, his control over his anger barely there, he still had a purpose for teaching at the school.

Mozess quickly made her way to the new Wandless Magic classroom. She had been sorely neglectic her lessons, but she knew that it was time to buckle down. She would graduate in a year, and she wanted to make sure she knew what she was doing. This class she knew would be an aid.
"Good day, Professor," she said brightly. She was extremly excited about this lesson, especially after her... mentor had suggested its possible future benefits 'Like when I'm flying...' she thought smuggly as she made her way to a chair in the very middle of the room. Her eyes glittered a vibrant ruby hue as she awaited the beginning of the lesson.

Leigh's eyes shifted slightly towards the door as it opened as a Slytherin entered. He smiled at her and nodded his head in reply, before returning his attention to Kendall.
'I really am sorry, Kendal, I may be able to teach you outside of Hogwarts eventually, just not for now.' Leigh said, lowering his voice down so only she could hear it. The idea had only come to him, one that he would have to plan cleverly.

Post by Girty Hubbles on Sept 19, 2007 14:12:57 GMT
The prospect of being able to cast magic without having to use a wand seemed to good to be true for Girty, particularly as she had a very bad habit of losing her wand on a regular bases. So with a smile and a spring in her step Girty hurried off to the classroom ready for the lesson, she was originally on time but she found herself having a rather prolonged conversation with one of the schools many ghosts and was now running behind schedule.
Dan had told her about this Professor, that there was something about him that seemed familiar and it put him on edge, so as always he wanted his little sister to be careful, and as always Girty ignored him. Although as she pushed open the classroom door a peered around she saw someone who she guessed would be teacher, and Dan’s words echoed around in her head. There was something familiar about this man put she could not place where.
Keeping her gaze fixed upon him Girty slowly walked down the middle of the tables directly to the front of the room. Slipping into the chair she gave a small smile to the Professor not wanting to disturb him as he talked to other members of the class.

Leigh smiled forgivingly towards Kendal and motioned her off with his hand, trying as hard as he could not to be offensive. He would send a note around with a student he trusted spreading word of a special class outside of Hogwarts where they could learn such a feat.
The door opened briskly and he saw the one student he was proud of to be in his class, Miss Girty Hubbles. He smiled at her as she did to him, and stepped behind his desk and placed his hands on his desk and smiled, looking at the few students that had come already. He knew they were early, but he would wait another few minutes for any more students to arrive.

Ashton looked up as the door opened and smiled as Girty entered the class, he greeted her with a wave from where he sat, more like fidgeted, waiting anxiously for the class to begin. Looking around the room he constantly tapped his fingers on the desk and tapped his feet against the floor. Ashton wasn't normally this fidgety, but then again, he'd never taken wandless magic before. Sure he was already quite adept at it, but he knew he could do much better. And this was the class where he was going to test his limits and see exactly how much better he could do.

This was the first class that she was happy to take. The thought of doing magic without a wand was just too cool for words. Granted in the common room she never let on how excited she was it wasn't what Slytherins did or at least not what this Slytherin did. She took extra care packing pleanty of quills and parchment she wanted to make sure she took all the notes necessary.
As she entered the class she looked around and the first thing she noticed was the professor. Now that was what she would be willing to stay after class for. Her eyes opened wide as she walked further into the room she didn't even pay attention to anyone else. Why weren't there more like that at Hogwarts? Finding a seat in the back ::Why in the back:: she thought, but well that's where she always sat.
Staring at the front she was still not paying attention to anyone else. It didn't happen often that she found someone appealing but when it did...Hand under her chin she sat eagerly waiting for the start of class.

Leigh's eyes widened as another entered the room, his parchment quivering as it ticked off another of the original names he had. He smiled at the thought of only two remaining, and he looked up a little towards the Slytherin who had entered. Several more students may come, but who? He shrugged before standing before the class, hands clasped behind his back with a calm smile on his face.
'Welcome to Wandless Magic.' Leigh said, bowing formally as his cousin truly did. He stood back up and gazed at those who had come, though only a few he could feel the potential flow off of them. 'I am Professor Everritt, though such formalities can exist outside of class for the sake of the rest of the school, in here, you may call me whatever you wish... As long as it is not childish nor troublesome.' He smiled calmly and spoke with a mature tone, underlying the childish enthusiasm he felt slowly building within his chest.
'In this class, we are here to develop the skills of wandless magic, not to write down copious amounts of notes that we all know will be useless in the end of school exams.' He said, clicking his fingers and all quills and parchment that the students had taken out disappeared with a fizzle of colourful sparks. 'Unlike other classes like Defence Against the Dark Arts,' He said, a quiver running through his voice as he spoke, 'and Charms, there is no reading required for Wandless Magic.'
'Throughout the ages, every wizard or witch has used wandless magic, though there were few who could truly control it. We all are capable of using it, it's a fact, though to truly understand it's uses and abilities we need to learn how to control it. And as such, this class is purely practical, each lesson you will practise control over a set spell and your homework will be to learn how to control that spell without your wand. There are no necessary flicks of your hand, just your mind and concentration on using the magic.'
'Wands will be useless in this class, but you may bring them along if you so wish.' Leigh said, bringing his hands before him and crossing his arms and smiling. 'Todays lesson will involve each of you showing me what you are capable of.'

Effie managed to catch the majority of Professor Everitt's welcome speech as she slipped into the classroom to join the group of students that had already arrived.
A purely practical lesson sounded just the sort of thing she would hopefully thrive at, and she stuffed her wand in the back pocket of her skirt with the half smile she often used. A smirk was soon to form however, when she heard the very welcome news of "no reading required". Now this is definately my sort of lesson. She thought, trying to forget the hours of boredom she had spent reading theory for some lessons.
Returning her full attention to the Professor, she felt slight trepidation rise within her, though she didn't show it, as he spoke of "showing what you are capable of".
