"Never drink on an empty stomach, it's bad. Your Blood-Alchohal level is higher when you drink on an empty stomach opposed to when you drink while you eat." he said thinking that maybe he should of said that earlier. He then saw her eating fast and nearly laughed, he didn't because he didn't want to be mean.

Bree had hoped to hide the fact that the drink had gone to her head but as soon as the new professor spoke she knew she had failed miserably at the. She gave a smile and explained, "it's just that all this take of death is a depressing topic and I don't do depressing without a bit of Firewhiskey."
She smiled apologetically at each of the teachers next to her and ate another mouthful. She had cleared her plate and was feeling much better. She poured herself some tea in a new cup and began lightly sipping that as she looked over the hall. It was filling up quite nicely and Bree smiled at a few she made eye contact with.

"I think of death happily, at a funeral you don't mourn their death, you celebrate their life." he said then taking a sip of his tea and saying "Good tea isn't it?" he said as he saw her make eye contact with the students who had a wondering eye. He began to wander into thought about how he was the only one not crying at all the funeral he had been to, except one. Real men DO cry he thought to himself taking another sip of tea.

Bree hurriedly swallowed her sip of tea and set her cup down. "That may be so," she retorted, "but that doesn't stop them from boring me to tears and from making people cry. My first day here was Mr Black's funeral and a lot of the people I met that day, including my star pupil, were crying." She took another sip, before mumbling to herself, "deathly depressing topic."

Dia had noticed something, a change in her friend. She was usually bright and cheerful, quick to brush sadness aside. Apparently even happy people feel things other then that. She watched as the two spoke over her, being between them and interjected here to prevent any more estrangement of her friend from her happy self.
She turned to Alex and smiled. "Do you have a 'star pupil' yet, Alex?" she asked. She wanted to get the attention away from death and onto something a little less as Bree put it depressing. She could think of nothing better then students. They all had them and could talk about their favourites. So then why not do just that? she thought.

"Not yet, I just got here about a week ago and I've only met three teachers. One of them was an assistant as well, but I never knew how mean some students could be, like a lot of the Slytherins are mean or avoid the other houses, it's usually Slytherin and Gryffindor that have the biggest problem though." he said hoping that wasn't a depressing topic to go off on.
He smiled at all the children who looked at them, but when he smiled the all turned away and ate, like if they didn't they would be in trouble or something. That's odd, he thought to himself, oh well.

Bree nodded and swallowed quickly. She always seemed to be in a rush of some sort or another. "They do seem to have some sort of feud but why I could never say," Bree commented. She had noticed it in corridors and the such, then added, "luckily I more often then not have one on one tutoring so I don't often experience the full force like you two would in a classroom full of them."

"Well luckily there are a few Slytherin that are kind to some Gryffindors. The funny thing for me is that Gryffindor's and Slytherins are the only one who really enjoy, or go to Occlumency. Hufflefuff and Ravenclaw either are quiet or don't show up and all." he said finishing his tea.

Dia had been chewing her food thoughtfully as the two spoke over her again. Dia was never one of many words and Bree hardly ever shut up but something she was beginning to find out about Alex was that he was very conversational, always keeping to the current and hardly deviating dangerously, as Dia knew Bree loved so very much to do.
She swallowed and smiled at Alex. "I've found exactly the opposite," she said, flicking her blond hair over her shoulder, "Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws always come to my classes but Slytherins stay away like it's some sort of disease. Gryffindors, on the other hand, or not as easy to label. They're willing to learn but the midnight classes do seem to put a damper on that on." Dia snorted a laugh and added, "though that never stopped Jac Biggerstall, never missed a lesson yet and always happy to help, lovely girl!"

"Yes, Jac is a good student. Always on time, and gets the questions right." he said pouring himself more tea. "I think so many Gryffindor's go to my class to protect themselves from the Legilimens, and most Slytherin want to become Legilimens. Guess they think it is cool to see other peoples thoughts." he said joking and then taking a sip of tea.

Bree swallowed and nodded in agreement. "Indeed," she said, "I'm sure they do think it's cool." She stretched the last word. "But I remember thinking how cool it would be to be able to read people's thoughts. And Slytherin's haven't changed much since I was here." She realised she was showing her age but she didn't care. She was 31 years old and proud of it. No one could mock her about her youthful disposition and no one dared.

Dia's smile faded. She set her fork and knife down and slowly turned to Bree. "You went to school here?" she repeated as thought the idea didn't sit well with her. She had never thought of Bree as a student and having too attend this school, she had never seen Bree around.
"I too attended this school," she said, "graduated ... what, it'll be ... six years ago." She couldn't understand why they had not had this discussion before having spoken many times on many issues, ranging from quidditch to the use of the toe. She said this obvious fact as more of a test to see when Bree had been there because even if Bree attended surely they would have seen each other?

Bree fixed Dia with a puzzled and bemused look on her face. "Well, don't sound do surprised about that, Dia," Bree said teasingly, "it's the best wizarding school in the country and Father would stand having Mother give up her life to educate me." She put a her fingers to her chest so that they looked like a spider, almost, and she rolled her eyes.
"Six years? Only six?" Bree laughed and sipped her Firewhiskey, "that makes me a right bit older then you and it also means we would not have gone to school together." She bent her fingers in turn, counting if she was correct in that assumption. She grinned again and nodded. She was right. "And you, Alex?" Bree asked, leaning forward to see the young teacher, "did you come here as well?"
