[Great Hall] Gone

Andie stumbled into the Great Hall, her red hair was tangled, her bright emerald green eyes, were dull and her normally pale face, was even paler. All in all, she didn't look too good. Of course she had just woken up, so that probably explained her ghastly appearance.

She sat down at the Ravenclaw table, set her guitar beside her and pulled a plate of chocolate chip pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast, and a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice (pulp free) towards her, she took a bite of pancake and sighed in contentment.

Breakfast. Her favorite meal of the day. She ate half the pancakes, then pulled out her guitar. She had been writing a song and wanted to see how it sounded. She played the opening then started to sing...

Andie finished with a sigh. It was a good song... but it needed some work.... Suddenly she heard a noise behind her, she turned around to greet the newcomer...

"Wow..." A sixth year girl had appeared behind her, eyes wide. "You're amazing! Did you write that?" The thin, gawky figure sank into a seat across from the singer, pushing her thick brown curls out of her ears. "I dance, myself--but I couldn't sing like that for my life."

"Milone Thorton--nice to meet you." She lifted her bluging, heavy bookbag off her aching shoulder, and ignored the thumping of thick, leatherbound textbooks as they splattered across the floor. That happened a lot, the weight of it split her bookbag's seam, or she simply set it down too hard and the books, parchment and quills took the better of it and bounced all over the room.

She grabbed a slice of apple from the fruit bowl and took the tiniest bite she could manage, still feeling iiffy about eating anything, judging the wiggling food from yesterday.

Andie smiled at the younger girl. "Yes. I did, I'm glad you like it. I'm Andie Riley."

[milone]

Milone smiled and nodded. "I definitely do--is it finished?" She looked up expectantly at Andrea and took a surer, larger bite of her apple, realizing that it tasted okay, at least better than the one before had. Why, even the pancakes looked safe to eat; they were sitting perfectly still on the plate, not a single one was wiggling, trembling or shaking--however, she couldn't exactly feel comfortable.

Milone swooped down and picked up two or three larger books, and took another bite of apply, cradling the texts in her lap.

Andie shrugged. "I dunno... I like it, but I think it could use some work. But then again, that's the curse of an artist. Even if it's your best work, you're never really completely personally satisfied... You always find something wrong with your work... something that you could've done better..."

[milone]

Milone nodded emphathetically, thinking about what she had just said. "Ooh, that's the same with ballet! After you've performed, you;'re always going over in your head what you did wrong. It's so annoying--but trust me, that was great."

Andie grinned in surprise. "You do ballet? So do I! Well actually I do alot of stuff. I play drums and guitar, I sing. Obviously. I do figure skating, ballet and gymnastics. What do you do besides ballet?"

[milone]

"I -uh- study. Pretty much for me it's ballet and school. And even that can be pretty hard to handle--I danced seriously in a company for a little while last year. It's a relief to take a break for a while! How about you?"

Andie smiled. "I like doing what I do. But I agree, it is nice to have a break once in a while. Especially from ballet. I like ballet, but I'm not in love with it. My main passion is probably gymnastics." She paused, then added as an afterthought, "And guitar and singing of course." She regarded Milone with curiosity, "What types of music do you like?"
