Striker decided to actually go to the ball, despite his very late arrival. He walked through the doors and saw the hall full of students, ministry officials and professors, filled to almost capacity. He sighed, knowing that he would hang to the fringes of the group, as was his nature in large groups.
He walked to the side and found a spare piece of wall and leaned against it, putting his hands into his pockets, knowing full well he didn't want to be there. His eyes washed over every thing happening in the room and then his eyes fell upon a situation and he had to laugh, though only silently.
He sighed again and rested his head against the wall, wanting to leave but he fought the urge to only remain for a few more minutes.

'Ooooh Smithy, yes poor Smithy... that was very mean of you, you know. He was only acting on my behalf.' Jonathan placed his hands on his hips, shaking his head in mock graveness. 'I hear he's doing alright again though, lucky for you. He's... now Quinn, please don't!'
Jonathan never managed to muster a yelp of surprise as he was knocked backwards off his feet, his wand spinning off out of sight and his shoulders shooting with pain as they hit the hard stone floor. His chest felt hot and bruised from where Quinn's strong - as usual - disarmament spell had hit him, and he groaned softly, staring up at the ceiling with squinted eyes. 'That was uncalled for,' he wheezed softly.
Darrow appeared over him, dragging up back into a standing position and dropping him into a soft chair that had been conjured up. Quinn continued to glare at him with evil shadows under her narrowed eyes, her teeth slightly bared. Although Darrow was trying to calm her, her wand was still gripped firmly in her hand, half pointing at Jonathan.
'He's got a point, you know.' The professor piped up as Darrow went on, quickly silencing himself as he and Quinn both looked at him with expressions that strongly suggested he stop talking. Upon Darrow informing them that they would all be dealt with tomorrow, Jonathan felt grossly victimised. 'But I didn't do anything!' He protested.

Quinn frowned when she was scolded by the Headmaster. Her face burned as the scolding continued. "But sir," she protested, "that was not rash. I'd been planning that for the longest time."
She crossed her arms and pouted when she was told to put her wand away. She never listened to the Headmaster when she was told not to jinx people when she was younger, way would she listen now. However, forgetting her childish anger, she understood the need to be diplomatic. She stomped her foot and throw down her arms, letting out a little cry of annoyance.
She felt more relaxed now and grudgingly put her wand away. Darrow helped Starsmore onto a seat and said that he would deal with them. She did not appreciate being treated like she had jinxed that slytherin's laces to the bottom of a staircase again, she had come too far for that. But she knew that if she opened her mouth that nothing but slander and anguish would wash out.
Waving Starsmore's ignorant comment aside, she adopted a more professional outlook and stance. "Thank you, Headmaster Darrow, for your assistance and yes, I shall need to know this professor's name ," she pointed to the drunken man she had been questioning about earlier, "and I shall need to question him in the morning too."

Ella looked at the boy who had appeared in front of her in almost a confused expression. As he got what he had to say Ella ed an eyebrow, and before she could control it, words flew from her mouth. "Why is that any of your business?" Her words stung. She knew her tone was harsh, and the air grew stiff between them so suddenly. 'Oh No. I didn't want to come off that way. Im terrible! She thought frusteratedly. "Im sorry, I didn't mean for that to sound so terrible." She saved before he could reply in an apologetic voice. "It's just- well, your right, I'm not having fun. I'm new here. Just yesterday I arrived, actually. And being new isn't fun. Clearly. And I decided I might as well just turn in early, write some letters to my friends...and my parents" Ella explained in a softer, less snappish tone, her expression softened. But she did absentmindedly cringe slightly when she talked of her parents. How angry they would be if they knew she would write to them, and lie. Scott was surprised by the girl's defensive state and ran a hand through his hair. He looked at the girl and smiled, "Well, would you like to write to your parents and friends of how you actually got to dance at the ball instead of lie?" he asked. Scott didn't know how she would respond so he stuck his hands in his pockets, "I'm new here as well, and I know how you feel," he said as politely as he could. He shifted his weight on his feet, "I guess what I'm saying is, would you like to dance?" he finally blurted out.

Ella looked at the boy in suprise as he asked her to dance. She hadn't expected that, and it silently made her heart skip a beat as she looked apon him. "I-uh-yea! Of course!" she stuttered out, trying to regain her composure. Hopefully she wasn't blushing. "Im Ella, by the way" She said, smiling. She left her last name out, she knew how judgemental could be if they knew her last name before they actually knew her. She tucked a blonde curl behind her ear.

Scott gave a small bow, "Scott Brooks," he said holding out his hand for her. He gave her a genuine smile as he waited for her to take it.
They stood near the door, blocking other student's paths. Scott noticed this and stepped to the side, hoping Ella would follow or realize why he had moved.
((sorry so short, i was limited for responses lol))

Adam smiled and bowed, "Adam Carson at your service Lady Lidia." he took her hand in his and gently kissed it as he straightened up. "May I have this dance Milady?" Lidia couldn't help but let out a giggle. He talked so much more differently than most people she was use to. "It's lovely to meet you Adam." She replied, standing up next to him. "Yes, you may, but I'm warning you. I'm not a very good dancer." Lidia stated, smiling genuinely. ((sorry they are short, but I'm being lazy.))

Adam chuckled. "That's fine. I'll do the leading, all you have to do is follow." Adam took Lidia's hand, placed his hand around her waist, and began to sway in time to the music
((i don't know if they're playing a slow or fast song atm, so let's just say it's a slow one. kay?))

Lidia followed his lead, hoping she didn't step on his feet. "You're not that bad of a dancer." She said, smiling at him. Lidia rather enjoyed his company. It had been a while since she made any friends and he seemed nice enough.

Adam flashed his signature charming smile. "Why thank you Milday. I was taught by a professional ballroom dance instructor, but... I'm actually nowhere near as good as my sister. That's probably the nicest thing, well only nice thing now that I think about it, that I've ever said about her!"

Lidia giggled when he smiled. It was the nicest smile she had ever seen. "I never had the opportunity to get taught. My brothers and sisters did... Why do you not like your sister?" She questioned, hoping it wasn't to personal. It was weird, she had never really made friends with someone younger than her. It always seemed like they could never relate. Adam truly was a genuine type of guy.

Adam rolled his eyes and scoffed. "Just wait until you meet her, then it'll be obvious!" He looked down at Lidia, even though she was older, he was taller by about 4 inches. "What about you? You have any siblings?"

Lidia looked down at her feet, making sure not to step on his. "Well, I guess I'll just have to accidentally bump into her!" She said, with a smile. Her face turned into a mask. She didn't really want to talk about her family, but she didn't want to seem rude. "I had two brothers and a sister." Lidia said, looking up at him.

Adam was curious as to why Lidia had said 'Had' rather than 'Have' but could tell that she didn't want to talk about it and decided not to push the subject. Instead he changed it. "So how do you like Hogwarts so far?" he asked

Lidia noticed how he had changed the subject, 'How sweet'. She thought. Her gazed turned to all the other people in the room. "Well, I have been getting lost quite a bit, but other than that it's great. I will admit that I haven't met very may people, still it's nice." She said, looking back at him.
