Personality:
Newton is a gentleman, to say the least, always well mannered and thoughtful. The one thing you will remember after meeting this man is how she speaks, with many a wise word to share and often spoken in jest. Cunning and with a good nose for business, Newton is the kind of man to keep his personal life personal. What he does do, however, is he will tell stories about things that you’re not quite sure happened to him or not but you’re inclined to believe him. These stories are to illustrate a point more then anything else. He has a great well of knowledge and experience and loves to show it off when it came to getting people to do something from him. He likes to use people and has no conscience about it either. That’s just the sort of blind determination he has sometimes. He has a wonderful ability to see beyond the here and now and is able to come up with very good strategies for any situation. It’s just one of those things that Newt can do inexplicably. When Newton is around different people he is what they need: when he is as the Ministry, he is what they need, the minister; when he is at home he is the husband and father that they wish for.
With many a quirk, Newton is too well known for his at times odd behaviour but he only does this to keep people's spirits up, after all a happy person is a productive person.
Appearance:
Newton is approximately 6' 2¼" and lanky. His wrinkled face shows his many years of odd jobs and hardships did catch up with him. His blue-grey eyes are bright with knowledge, wisdom and a youthful and keen, ready mind. His voice is deep and husky from years of smoking too much and talking way too much, still having a vicious bark to keep those younger then him in order. History:
Schooled in Hogwarts, in Gryffindor like his mother, and raised by his widowed mother near a small town in Surrey, Newton grew up never knowing his muggle father who died shortly before he was born. His mother collected odds and ends and sold them for a small profit. She taught him about the business of business and he developed a love for it. And she too developed his interest in politics. After leaving school, Newton joined his mother in “the field” and shadowed her for about five years, learning all the tricks of the antique collecting trade. His mother then fell dreadfully ill and was bed ridden for more then half a year. In that time, Newton lost all heart to take over his mother’s business. He did odd jobs, but never going too far a field from where his mother was. He wanted to be there for her as much as he could.He was twenty-five when she died but not because of that illness. She got over that relatively quickly but the doctors were still unsure that she was well enough to leave but they had held her there for so long that they didn’t have the heart to call her back. After that it was a common occurrence to see Mrs Iris Biggs in the hospital until her death. It was there that Newton met a very nice young nurse called Nimmya Madoc. Even during his mother’s time at St Mungo’s, it was clear that there was something between Nimmya and Newton and his mother encouraged him to pursue her. With this in mind, Newt did and at the age of twenty-nine Newt and Mya were married.
When his mother died, the business she ran went head first into a fiery pit and disintegrated. So, Newt turned to his other love: politics. He took a position as a member of the Department of International Magical Cooperation but found that his friendship circle was much broader then he had thought possible. High powered men and women enjoyed spending time with Newton because of his smart and funny nature and his ability to tell stories made him a charming person to know. It was through some of these contacts that he was introduced The Red Rose League and what they stood for.
Newton thought it was an interesting ideal but he too thought that the only way to gain the people’ trust and with Newton it was easy. His marriage was good and he was happy, his work was treating him well, and his beautiful wife told him that she was pregnant. This was to be the first of three children, all separated by four years. The children were: Liam, oldest; Aine, the middle child; Zachariah, the youngest. And they were all very much like their father. Newton bore the responsibility of being a father like a life or death decision. He taught his children everything he could.
Time went on and Newton climb the proverbial ladder within his department at the Ministry, getting to travel all over the world for his work, he adored that opportunity. When Newt was the head of the Department, when his children were all grown up, it became apparent that the higher orders were not as ordered as they professed they were. The Minister had been killed and his second in command had taken over but as soon as this was discovered she disappeared and the position of Minister of Magic was given to Newton Biggs. Just like the mantel of being a father, Newton carried this responsibility well. He tried to handle every situation as swiftly as he could, come down hard on law breakers. But with this new disturbance going on at Hogwarts Newton’s hand may be forced and he could take on a more hands-on approach.
