Headmaster; Ex-Hufflepuff; Half Blood
Passionate, crazy and unpredictable! Those are the three words that sum up Daniel Hubbles!
Once Dan has set his heart on something that is all he will be able to think about and he would do anything in his power to help those he loves. Of course being a Hubbles the main and most important thing in his life is his family! The Hubbles clan are a tight knit bunch and with being the older brother Dan also took upon the responsibilities that came with it. Love for him family then also spurred on his next love, Hufflepuff! If there was ever a bias Professor in the school then Professor Hubbles is your man! Just remember to never say a bad word about the yellow clad house when he is around…otherwise it might be the last thing you do!
His craziness and unpredictability really go hand in hand. He can be running around with a bed sheet over his head pretending to be a ghost one minute to kissing a male professor the next! He is almost always in a good mood and if you encounter him in the corridor while skipping a lesson he is more likely to go on an adventure down a secret passageway with you rather then take away house points! However and it is a big however, if you get on the wrong side of Dan Hubbles you shall feel the force of it. Whether it is an attack on him, his sister or the Hufflepuff house then his mind set changes dramatically. His moods can change faster then the Scottish weather in Spring.

Dan’s boyish grin is not the only thing he has going for him, if his captivating blue eyes land upon yours he will hold your gaze with such ferocity even the male of the species get flustered. His well kept dirty blond hair is either spiked or left with the ‘fallen out of bed look’ which Dan thinks he pulls off rather well.
Well that is what Dan tells himself when he looks in the mirror every morning. In reality his hair is only kept blond by the use of hair care products, his jaw is covered in stubble from the sheer laziness of not sparing a few moments for a shave and the ‘fallen out of bed’ look is normally because he has just fallen out of bed.
But because of his vanity Dan is normally well presented, of course being the Headmaster he normally struts around the castle in tailored suits and multi-blue coloured shirts and ties…although since his marriage to a Ravenclaw blue seems to be becoming a more common colour to see him in.
On the 10th of February 2074 Daniel Alex Hubbles arrived into the world, the first born of Dennis and Penelope Hubbles. He grew up in a small muggle town in the East Midlands where Dennis working for the muggle council (even though he was a wizard) he had a very quite childhood although he grew up in the muggle world he was not shielded from the wizarding one. The rest of the Hubbles family were active members in the wizarding community and with such a large family it was hard to avoid the world.
On Dan’s eight birthday the news arrived that his uncle Allan died in an incident with a rouge wizard and it tore the close knit family apart. Sebastian turned into a right trouble maker and made life even harder for his mother who was finding it hard to cope with the death of her husband. Dan grew close to his cousins Sebastian and Warren during this time, they were like brothers to him and his parents had brought him up to treat and love them like brothers. However it soon came to be that Dan had his own sibling as at the age of nine his younger sister Girty was born.
Dan loves Girty so much, as the older brother by such a large amount he felt protective of her straight away. He would do anything to help his sister out even when she was young, Dan would spend hours on end just playing with Girty in the garden…he had always been taught that family was the most important thing. Many people always wonder at the age difference between Dan and Girty but their parents had reason behind it all, their theory was that by having such an age gap they could offer the one child could be the focus of their attention for the time so at the age when they were growing and needed them most they were there. Girty would argue this did not work as their parents still love Dan more, and Dan would not argue but then he always points out that Girty is Grandpa’s favourite.
A year after his sister was born the family was still suffering from the death of Allan and soon to be the death of Jackie. Their Aunt was worn thin from the loss of her husband and with Sebastian being so troublesome it seemed to Dan that she just gave up. With both parents dead Warren and Sebastian were embraced by the Hubbles family. They went to live with their Grandparents although Warren seemed to spend a lot of the time over at Dan’s house.
In 2086 Dan stepped onto Platform Nine and Three Quarters for the first time and took the journey on the Hogwarts express. The Hubbles family have always come from a long line of Hufflepuff’s and throughout his childhood his father had taught Dan the principles of being a good Hufflepuff and so it was no surprise when his name was called out and the Sorting Hat placed on his head it soon called out HUFFLEPUFF!!!
In the Hufflepuff common room he found a new home from home, a new family (although there were a few Hubbles lingering in the commonroom). Warren and Dan stuck together like glue and for the first years at school they were typical hard working Hufflepuff’s, the geeks of the first year. It was only in the second year did Dan and Warren befriended William Vaid, another Hufflepuff and like them rather geeky and together they made an awesome trio. Over the years Warren would get Dan and Will into so much trouble, yet they would always put their studies first.
However as time in the school progressed Dan became very friendly with a Ravenclaw known as Offley Marsh. The two got on well, determined, hot headed and in love. That was the theory anyway and Daniel Hubbles gave her his time and his heart but clearly that alone was not enough for her. Dan wanted to travel, see the world but Offley wanted Dan to have a career, a profession so they had to agree to disagree. When Dan stood his ground Offley knew how to deal how to deal with this little problem of defiance and called their relationship to an end expecting Dan to fight for what they had. The problem was Dan could not get over how willing Offley was to end it all and so he turned to drink and girls to help him through his pain.
After a summer of drink and girls Dan made the decision that it was time to go and do the travelling that had ripped him and Offley apart. He went all over Europe, including a rather drunken stop off in Poland where he became good friends with the man who would later become Minster of Magic! But with more alcohol in his system and the purchase of a small boat he somehow ended up in South America. He found himself waking up in a ditch just out side São Luis on the coast of Brazil. From there he managed to pull bits of his life together and headed out towards the Amazon jungle armed with a notebook and a mind determined to search for magical creatures that lived in the forest. He spent many months in the forest and saw many of the creatures he thought he would only ever read about in textbooks back at Hogwarts.
The deeper he got into the forests the more tribes he came across and the less friendly they became, and that was the very reason Dan ended back in Britain. One tribe became very territorial and did not like that random stranger appearing and they ended up chasing Dan through the forest. It only took one dart and the man was brought tumbling to the ground, the slow parlaying poison spreading through his body and he was left for dead by the river side. (Of course if you ask him about this storyline you would get a much more elaborate version which including the kidnapping of the tribes princes, a sword fight and him running for three days and nights to escape their wrath.)
Clearly though it was not his time to die, Dan Hubbles had something else to do in his life and he was saved. A pack of travellers found him and immediately called for aid and he was whisked away to a Hospital in Brazil. Dan remained there for two weeks until he was moved to a Hospital back home so he was closer to his family. After another month in Hospital Dan was allowed to return home, this meant moving back in with his parent’s house. It was almost a year on after his return back to British shores did Dan think he had to do something with his life.
This is when Hogwarts came back into the man’s life as without his knowing his father applied for a job as the new Charms Professor. Dennis opinion was that his son was wasting himself on doing small jobs and sitting around on his behind for months on end, he was spending more money on drink and women then was actually coming in and if he was so determined to keep up that life style then he would need a job of his own. Dan saw it as a new challenge, new women and more importantly it meant he could spend more time with his sister, little did he know that one of the most important people he would ever know worked at this school as well.
Dan was known as the school drunk and his reputation of womanising and gambling was well known, but still he was liked by most students. Of course there were a few who did not like him but no so much as Loren Hayes (more on her later) Dan soon gained the role of Head of Hufflepuff house as seeing as he had come from a family that was so proud of the house of badger and to be made head of it was the greatest honour possible. It also gave him reason to be more of a smug git then normal as under his reign Hufflepuff won the house cup every single year.
Being the dashing man as he was (LOL not bigheaded there) Dan got a following in the female members of the school whether they be students or adults. They all swooned at his good looks and even with his reputation many were willing to see past that…yet Loren Hayes was not one of those. She saw Dan as the arrogant, self loving prick that he was and their hatred for one another grew and they made each others lives hell. Dark magic flew around the corridors between these two almost as much as the verbal abuse and it would only be a mater of time before something happened…and one day in June during Dan’s second year at Hogwarts they both finally snapped. The Professor tried to throw the Ravenclaw down the stairs but although he came to his senses it was not enough for Miss Hayes and with a flick of her wand Dan Hubbles chest was wide open with bloody pouring out.
Enter Professor Dia Owen. The two had already met a few times, in fact they had danced on the kitchen tables, shared a few kisses and Dan had a burning passion for. She was the one who came to his rescue and her cool headedness, quick thinking and caring nature saved him yet again. The two soon grew close, very close in fact that they fell deeply in love and even with a small hic-up when they did not talk to one another for nine months. However once the two got over themselves and realised that they were meant to be things soon quickly fell into place and after a reunion in the cold of October, they were engaged to be married by the next January and then two months after that the two were saying their vows in Egypt were they had spent there very first Holiday together.
While on their honeymoon in Jamaica Dan was given a very nice surprise when a letter turned up from Professor Darrow (the current headmaster at the time) wrote to him informing him that when he returned to school he would have a new role…he was the new Headmaster! From being the man who claimed he would never have a profession to being the Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was some change, but it was a welcome one. For the first time in his life things were going right for Dan and he for one was not going to complain.
Dan is determined to be a good Headmaster, looking after the staff, students and even the creatures that live in the forest. He may know that many of his predecessors where much older and some would argue wiser but Dan had been through enough in his life to know what he was doing and although a fun loving guy he knows when to be serious. So with the new responsibilities as a husband and headmaster Dan is ready for the next new and exiting chapter in his life, but he knows that he will not have to face it alone.
