Apparently other fantasy exists =O
So, what did people think of Stardust?
And anyone else stupidly excited about The Golden Compass? (or Northern Lights as it should be =P)
..Any recommendations for good fantasy films?
(A book version of this thread may be created soon =P)

His Dark Materials is so so so good!!
and WHAT... is it out tomorrow?! crazy!
From what pics/trailers I've seen... some of the casting looks pretty cool. Nicole Kidman looks like she will be good - it'll be interesting seeing her as a villain for once! As for Lord A(I can't spell it, nor can be arsed to look it up).. Daniel Craig looks too young! But we'll see. The Lyra girl looks a bit too young too, but apparently she does an awesome job in the film. Again.. we'll see!
I want a visible daemon!

I'm actually reading His Dark Materials now. I think I'm doing it to piss off my rheology teacher cause she's like AHHH ATHEISTS! But its really good. God, was I stupid and bought the whole entire trilogy in one book, I can barely hold it to read it!
I think they should turn the Great and Terrible Beauty Books into movies. Loved them and love the time period!

A Great and Terrible Beauty is about girls in a boarding school in and one of the girls has powers to go in between worlds in which the school is connected and crazy evil comes out of it with bad decisions. Its just such a romantic book. I love it!
Oh and they announced a movie! yay! I love Imdb!

It's the longest book I've read that isn't Harry Potter or the LotR in it's entirety...lol... The Historian: Amazing! It's a Dracula story with a twist...and I love I it because it's also about eastern European History which is amazing! Wicked: Awesome! The Troy Series by David Gemmel is one of the best representations of the Troy tale I've read...tis amazing!

I've finish His Dark Materials and have moved on to Wicked.
wow...what a difference. The show and the book have like two parallels and thats it! So different, but I am greatly enjoying it, but as a drama geek myself, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Wicked, the show and nothing could replace it.
I haven't gotten the last Great and Terrible Beauty book, I'm hopelessly cheep and won't buy the hard cover. lol.
Same with the last of the Pellinor Trilogy...The Crow, I think it is. Good series. I bought the first one The Naming in a train station book store on my way to NYC and I got hooked!

I love His Dark Materials! I've read it over and over and over. The movie was okay, the one really satisfying part was where they showed the boat where Lyra was hiding, and OH MY FSM it was exactly the way I imagined it.
