The Groundskeeper's Hut

[Apronia Silvanus]

Apronia led Kim to a grassy knoll outside her hut, fenced in and inhabited by a very pregnant female kangaroo.

"Don't mind her, she's quite docile, mostly. I'm going to make the illusion invisible and inaudible to her." Apronia conjured several empty vials, handing one to Kim.

"Ready?" At the girl's nod, Apronia's wand spun out a slavering wolf the size of a small horse, who advanced slowly, snarling, towards the Slytherin girl.

Kim saw this wolf stood infront of her, she smiled and was confident. Probably because it wasnt real.

The wolf came charging at her, she wasnt ready for it but she spun out of its way. She put the bottle in her pocket as it came for round two. The wolf rand at her and as Kim stepped out of the way she stuck her foot out sending the creature flying. She ran over to it flipped it on its back, hit it a few times and as it opened its mouth she rammed the bottle down its throat, and forced the mouth shut.

Kim stepped away from it as it exploded. "That was... unpleasant"

Apronia smiled.

"It only exploded because that was what you were imagining. Those vials are empty, but the illusion is sensitive. All right, this time I'm going to make it more like a real wolf...heavier, and you'll feel his paws and teeth brush your skin, so make sure you minimize that contact. I can protect you only so far. The best thing would actually be," and she conjured a wolf that moved only at her command,"if you could get him like this." The wolf leapt and froze in midair, jaws gaping. "Then you can toss the potion," she demonstrated, "roll out of the way," she dropped and rolled, "and run like hell." she popped to her feet. "Ready to try?" she poised her wand to conjure another wolf.

"So are the vials like that? Like... what i want? If i really want him dead he'll die? And if i dont... he'll be cured and alright? Back to nice guy?" Kim asked. "Im ready"

[Apronia Silvanus]

"Something like that." Apronia gave up trying to explain. The antidote in the bottle should cure the wolf, she was almost sure, but then again...it could also kill Fenrir. It was a 70/30 chance. But whatever would help Kim do what she needed to do.

She readied herself for the next wolf. "Thing is, i read that book you told me too quite thougharly and i couldnt help noticing a few similarities, not to mention the ones Helia pointed out." She took her wand out and smiled "She also told me, when she made my wand, the core is a werewolf hair, one of Fenrir's to be precise. She thought it fitting. She said, im a lot like him. And like i said, when i read the book, i noticed it, between his human form and his wolf form... I guess i am like him." She turned and looked at her "What im saying is, now i know that, im not sure if i want him dead. Im not sure if i want to kill him. But, rather him than me"

After a short pause, Apronia made the illusory werewolf attack to give her thinking space while Kim grappled with this heavier illusion. If she told Kim it was a cure, Kim might (enraged at the sight of the real Fenrir) kill him anyway. If she maintained the poison story, Kim might decide to be merciful. Either way, there was a severe chance of her plan failing, which would endanger not only Apronia, but Kim. And that risk was unacceptable.

What should I tell her? she wondered, biting her lip.

The wolf lunged at her and made her fall to the floor. She held its neck, managing to keep its jaws away from her. She tried rolling away buit couldnt move and couldnt reach her wand. Though, lucky for her she knew it was just an illusion so she decided to twist and snap its neck.

She stood up, brushing the mud off her. She looked at Apronia who looked lost in some thought. "Jeez, look so thoughtful.. Remind me not to rely on you out there" She joked

"Might it not occur to you, Kim, that as an employee of this school bringing you into grave danger, I might be thinking precisely about how to save your neck? I do not need the practice of fighting a wolf. You do. These wolves will not kill you, so I am using this time to think." her voice was slightly irritated, and the swish of her wand as she summoned another wolf echoed sharply in Kim's ears. "Try not to let this one get his claws on you. It's rare, but lycanthropy can be transmitted that way."

Kim looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "I guess it didnt occur to me no. Why dont you need the practise? How come its only me? I mean your facing danger too and it would be just as easy for them to turn on you aswell." She heard the tone in her voice, Kim used a fire spell that she learnt in the dueling club followed by a wind spell that made it fly and when it landed it hit its head knocking it out. It was still engulfed with flames. "And there was no need to say it like that! I know lycantropy can be transmitted by a scratch, or wolf like properties. I didnt spend all this time researching it for nothing you know" She looked at her sternly "If im that much of an annoyance why dont i just go and we can forget the plan? Ill let him come for me in the future instead, when your job might not be on the line" She snarled

Apronia raised an eyebrow at the indignant teenager.

"Are you so determined to find offense in everything I say that you must twist my words? I do not need to practice at the moment because I follow a strict exercise regime similar to the one followed by Aurors. And I cannot think of a better time to go after Greyback than the present. However, as a Slytherin, Ms. Rivers, I should not have to explain to you the importance of a plan. Unless you've adopted the famous Gryffindor strategy of 'everybody on three!'?"

She flicked her wand and the illusory wolf pounced at Kim again.

Kim stepped out of the way of the wolf and looked at Apronia. "I am NOT twisting them i am merely simplifying them. Basically saying things you mean but dont actually wat to say"

Kim turned around just in time to see the wolf pounce at her again. She flicked her wand and again set it on fire. "Maybe we should make this harder?"

Apronia's frustration showed with the violence that she flicked her wand at the werewolf illusion.

"Very well, Ms. Rivers. This werewolf is now immune to magic and strong as any true werewolf I've ever met. When you are ready." she waited for the girl's nod before unleashing the stronger--and also more devious--wolf. It circled Kim, growling low, feinting and testing her responses.

That girl really believes she's not twisting my words? I'm a blunt enough person, you'd think a Slytherin would have noticed that I say exactly what I mean. Perhaps it is a vocabulary problem. I learned English nearly a decade ago. The vernacular of today must differ enough that she doesn't understand me. She sighed at the prospect of brushing up her English yet again. Language study was so boring.

Kim watched the wolf circle her. Uhm... Immune to magic?? How the bloody hell am i suposed to do this? Guess i asked for it. Kim put her wand in her pocket, she thought she might need both hands. "I feel like im training for a fighting competiton!" At this the wolf lunged at her, Kim quickly sidestepped as it smacked into the side of the hut. "May be stronger... But its definatly thicker" Kim ran up to it and jumped in its back. The wolf struggled and threw Kim to the floor, it went to jump on her as Kim pulled out her wand. She thrust it upwards into its neck and said the firespell again. She threw the wolf off her and stood up "Done" she announced.

Apronia gasped as the wolf leapt on Kim from behind. She flicked her wand and banished it before it could harm the girl. Apronia helped her to her feet.

"I did say it was immune to magic, Ms. Rivers. That includes magically conjured flames. And regardless, it is complete idiocy to turn your back on any opponent before you are entirely sure that he or she will not be rising again."
