"Hmm... he could be. But I don't think it's anything bad. He's too happy to be warning against something." she didn't know entirely why she said that, but something about the brightness and the clearness of the stars seemed like it couldn't be anything bad.

"You could be right... but things aren't always what they appear..." she didn't know why, but Erika had a bad feeling.

Algernon smiled, pleased that his Ravenclaws, atleast, seemed to be learning something from him. "The stars speak differently to everyone, and they never lie." He told them, somewhat crypticly.

<<Ok, but do take care that you don't make it seem like you're in two places at once. >> She smiled, "Well they tell me something good is happening there right now. Maybe they're telling Erika that something bad will happen there." she said in a cheery voice.

Thom stared at the parting in the trees with a deep facination. There didn't appear to be anything sinister about a beautiful looking unicorn gesturing towards a place that light could travel down onto, but Thom did feel it had some sort of hidden significance. He had almost forgotten about the comet now... (( Oh don't worry, my Accio Doom thread is set the day AFTER this night... if that makes sense. Go take a look and you'll see. ))

Algernon smiled, pleased that his Ravenclaws, atleast, seemed to be learning something from him. "The stars speak differently to everyone, and they never lie." He told them, somewhat crypticly. "How is that possible? If one person hears something bad, but another hears something good. Then how could the stars not be lying? Unless... something bad and something good is about to happen?" Erika asked curiously.

Algernon shrugged. "Ten million things happen every second, some of them good, some of them bad. It just depends on what they want to tell you at the moment." He paused for a moment, gazing at the stars himself, their messages touching his ears, thousands of them. "Just don't... listen too hard. It'll drive you crazy in the long run."

Thom watched Moncrieff sympathetically. He could hardly imagine what it would be like to never stop listening, to never stop the billions of voices of the universe asking you questions, arguing, sining, crying...

((This thread certainly got interesting!))
Lisa stood off the the side, still slightly entranced by the comet. It really was magnificent, and she sighed staring up at the stars. The small cluster of her class gathered around caught her attention and she walked over, looking up at the sky while listening in about the Unicorns. "It's the centaurs that read stars the best, isn't it professor?"

She smiled at the stars, they were so bright she could almost hear them glittering. "They're so beautiful..." she said, glad that she had brought all her supplies to stay awake. It would've been lousy to miss a class like this. She isghed happily, "So, are there certain types of magic that are especially enhanced because of the comet?" she asked curiously.

Thom turned to the professor, waiting for him to answer Halo's question. This would certainly come in helpful no doubt.

Algernon closed his eyes, bringing the voices back down to a dull hum. "Most do have a... specialty of sorts. That's what is so special about this one. It enhances... everything. Makes it a hell of a lot more dangerous. All of you should be careful about what spells you cast until around this time tomorrow," he told them, then turned to look at the Gryffindor. "Yes, Centaurs are the best. Very few humans can manage more than the simplest messages. But then again..." He paused for a moment, smiling at each of the students in turn. "Well, I suppose it doesn't matter any more. I'm part centaur. A quarter, to be exact. My Grandfather. A few of you know that already..." He cast a knowing look toward Fin, then continued, "but most of you don't. Still, at this point I can trust you all enough not to go ranting about dirty half-breeds, yes?"

"Professor, you know none of us would even think about it!" Erika replied reassuringly.
