Algernon pulls himself to his feet, running a hand through his hair to straighten it, his brow furrowed. "Oh... Oh, okay. But what about--"
He is suddenly aware of another voice. He spins around to see the portrait of a young man, an old Jewish man, presemably the original occupant of the portrait, pressed up against the wall and yelling angrily. The young man was gesturing wildly at Algernon. "Finally! The headmistress needs you!" He turned and walked out of the portrait, mumbling. "Merlin, you'd think they could stop snogging for a moment to listen..." Algernon looked quickly back at Rainer. "What...?" he shakes his head, walking toward the door. He stops in front of Rainer, examining for a moment, before sweeping out of the office and down the hall to the Headmistress's, glaring confusedly down at the floor.

Rainer closes the door after him, blinking back tears and finds himself staring down the knowing expression of the wandering jew, whose portrait hangs across the way.
"Oh vhat are you looking at, sie alter dummkopf?!" he rushes across his office, yanking the frame from the wall and sets it face down matter of factly. He shakes angrily there for a moment, letting bookshelves reconstitute themselves, clenching and unclenching his jaw. Once the books begin the long process of finding their way home in the alphabetical order he instructed them, Rainer walks out, slamming the door after him.
