Post by Prof. Rainer Freundschaft on Mar 10, 2006 5:23:32 GMT
The book was falling apart. The blind and wounded centaurs still fresh in his mind, Rainer resolved himself once more to restoring Professor Moncrieff's sight. If this was any indication of this new forces's influence, the entire staff would be needed to contain it. His mind on Algernon, Rainer insisted to himself this was all a matter of professional investment.
Of course, it had been foolish to enter the forest alone. Rainer, despite his preoccupation with the charms of magnification and disorientation laid out before him, knew in a quieter part of himself, that he was lucky to have returned untouched.
Untouched? He rolls the word on his tongue, considers its impossible meaning. It was all thorougly suspicious.

Post by Prof. Eithne l'Keitha on Mar 10, 2006 5:30:55 GMT
"Professor?" Eithne panted, having hurried through the poisoned forest, across the grounds, and up to Professor Freundschaft's office with a suspended werewolf and two other students in tow. "One of your students - Norton - he's transforming." She set the half-way werewolf, who was still struggling to remain human despite his fierce claws bursting from his wrists, onto the ground before the Gryffindor Head of House. "I cannot transfigure against a cursed transformation, we need a potion," she admitted, and in a lower voice, "and I believe that this... situation... needs to remain within this office." {OOC: cont'd tomorrow; g'night all, I have an AP Spanish exam in 8 hours }

[good luck!]
kandler gave a growl as he clentched his eyes shut. His transformation was slow but it was causing so much pain with the spell she placed over him. He yelped slightly and replaced it with a snarl. His eyes snapped open and flashed yellow. His eyes stared at his Head of House.

Lisa followed the Professor and transforming werewolf into a room she hadn't ever been in before. Her wand had not left her grip since the past event in the forest and she looked at Professor Freundschaft, her eyes glassy.
Looking at the werewolf, she couldn't help but jump slightly as he yelped. She only hoped they'd find the proper potion quickly.

She promises Cain that he can sleep soon, does a Point Me! to find the nearest Professor, and is directed to the Charms cooridor. It leads her to an office, the bronze plaque announcing ¨Professor Rainer Freundschaft¨ in a cheery voice as she approaches it. She performs a minor hex with irritation and knocks harshly.
¨Soon,¨ she promises Cain, or perhaps herself, for her strength is fading quickly. ¨Soon we will know what does this, soon we will know how to defeat it.¨ She knocks again.
The key goes ice cold (as it never has before), her eyes roll up in her head, she hisses.

Cain is scared, but he doesn't know what is going on. The world is a haze seen through eyes exausted by misused adreneline and flight. He follows Apronia mutely, even the stench of werewolf unable to shake him from his stupor. But when Arponia falls...
He kneels at her side, grasping her arm and shaking it ferociously. "No! Wake up! WAKE UP!"
He does not know how to tell if a human is alive or dead.
He does not know how tell if a centaur is alive or dead, either.
But it's hard to mistake when their entrails are scattered about the forest in a thousand hoofprints.
He screams, a house sound, and crashes through Rainer's door, eyes settling wildly on the man. He is beyond words, merely grabbing his arm and dragging him to the door, and then collapsing behind him, all four legs folding up beneath, and sobbing weakly. He is so tired.

Alondra watched the acitivity without a care in the world. She rolled her eyes looking around to see if she could slip away from watchful eyes, but it was no use. She sighed and watched Kandler. She knew what would help him, but she couldn't do it herself. She wasn't even sure if the Professor could.
She felt a bolt of pain run through her body and screamed. Soon the pain drained and the only thing left was a lingering smile that would not have been an end result if she hadn't known what the pain was. Her powers were back. She had regained them quicker than she thought, but she wasn't sure what was fixed. She hoped no one noticed her moment of agonizing joy.

Apronia sat up, shaking slightly. She met the large brown eyes of her worried centaur friend.
¨What happened?¨ she asked. Something tugged at her, a soft invisible pleading. She looked at the other Professors. Freundschaft met her gaze for the barest moment before looking away. She narrowed her eyes at him. ¨What is happening in the forest?¨ she demanded of them all. ¨And why has no one told the students? They must know why it is they may not wander!¨
her visions grays and she sees two young girls seeking centaurs. the creatures are standing in a circle, rage and desperation in their faces. they shake bows at the sky, and soon they will catch the scent of the two students. blood will spill in the forest and the corruption will grow worse.
¨There are students, now, in the forest. They look for centaurs. And they will find them, all too soon.¨ she looked around. ¨I will go save them if I can. But I must know what you are going to do. I cannot stop this corruption on my own.¨

Cain clings to Apronia, kneeling beside her, his hands moving over her body in a nervous effort to be sure she is still whole. "You can't go again! You can't!" He whines, sortly but high-pitched in his panic. His eyes roll like a scared horse's. "You'll get hurt this time, they'll hurt you, and you're already sick or something and you scared me so much, Apronia, and I won't let you go!" He is crying now, tears dripping from his wide grey eyes onto her face.

Lisa's eyes widened as a small Centaur crashed its way into the office, her gaze watching as the Gamekeeper soon followed, falling to the floor. She looked on with fearful eyes as they spoke to one another.
More students in the forest? Lisa thought to herself, the grip on her wand tightening on impulse. However, she was interrupted from her train of thought as sobs reached her ears.
She looked at the small centaur with sympathy, and watched as the Professor's shared looks with one another.

(ooc; Coming from 'Algernon's Infirmary room')
Algernon arrives, supported on one side by James McFinnigan, on the other by Kieron E'Drien. He is obviously in some pain, having great difficulty walking. He pulls himself across the threshold, guided into a chair by the students in which he sits.
"I seem to have stumbled in on a party," he comments, the breathing of a number of people coming to his sensitive ears. "Can someone tell me what's going on here?" He speaks coldly, knowing Rainer must be there somewhere.

Alondra looked around at the new arrival and then scanned the faces of the ones who had already been there. She was thankful none of them had heard her. She wondered if maybe she could slip away without anyone's notice, but then she realized Lisa might notice her absence or perhaps the Professor. She didn't feel like getting in trouble.

"I tried to tell him he should rest, but he wouldn't listen," Fin said. His eyes then fell on the young centaur. "Uhhhh, Prof. that centaur guy is here."

Lisa's gaze landed on the door where two students and a slightly older male made their way into the room. Stunned, she watched as his face contorted as if in incredible pain, the two students helping him into a chair.
"The forest..." She began quietly, speaking for the first time, her eyes briefly looking out the window before turning to her hands, nervously. "It's causing Kandler to transform." She finished, just as softly, wondering what had happened to the Professor to put him through so much agony.
