Sitting in his classroom, awaiting the arrival of any student, Leigh knew that he would have to step up his teaching to get the students to come. He considered himself an average teacher, often compelled into useless arguments with students. Today he knew it would change, for as he awaited his wand was constantly glowing red, a sign that it was time to show them a powerful spell.

Helia walked promptly into the classroom, "Good afternoon Professor," she said taking a seat in the second row, "How are yuo on the fine day?" she was in an extremly good mood for some reason.

"Good afternoon, Helia, I am fine." Leigh said, amused by a thought. He whirled his wand around, the glowing tip sending out a strange red mist into the air.

Thom stomped heavily into the room, his hair a mess and his skin pale and sallow. Under his eyes sat purple sacks, and it was clear that he was extremely tired. Yesterdays events down at the lake had left him dangerously ill, and his magic seemed to dwindle on his finger tips like a candle reaching the end of it's wick. Noticing the shadowy corners of the back row, he slipped into one of the chairs loudly, cursing as he bashed his knee.

She raised an eyebrow, "Um... what is that?" she asked gesturing to the mist. It looked so pretty, but she knew in the magical world, the pretty things were usually the most dangerous. Take Hippogriffs and dragons for example; gorgeous, but deadly.
She looked back at Thom, worried about her friend. If not for him she probably would've died out there, fainted, and free for the lethifolds to gorge on. "You okay?" she whispered to him.

Novella walked into the classroom, flinching visibly at the sight of Thom. She sat in a far corner of the classroom, fixing her eyes on the professor and saying nothing.

Leigh smiled, as the mist rose towards the roof. "Helia, it is simply the spell you will learn today." Leigh replied, looking at the students who had come to his class.

A free table near the middle caught her attention and Lisa walked toward it, shrugging her bag off her shoulders. Sitting down, she quietly took out her books, still restless with thoughts of the previous events down at the lake. Noticing Thom's sickly state, she sent him a sympathetic glance, worrying her bottom lip.
Hearing the professor, she wondered vaguely what spell they would be learning, but couldn't bring herself to care as much as she would have liked.

Thom's head was on the desk down, his arms circling it protectively. He frown at the warm wood before his nose, it's scarred surface dark and smelling of magic. He could hear but not see, and with a frown up looked up slightly at Addis's wand. It glowed red, throbbing unevenly like a well-scorched log on a fire that had been raging for too long, the cane of it weak looking, battered by the angry magic. It looked dangerous and powerful. He thought of Novella and the colour red.
He was aware that people were watching him, a cloud of mixed feelings over their heads. Novella was wary, cautious, much bitterer than she had been. She had become something lesser in other's eyes since waking. Halo and Lisa had the Look in their eyes. Sorry. He chose to stare at them each in turn, mad-looking, unable to really understand. He shook his head for no reason at them.
Turning back to Addis, he simply muttered. "Show us."

Skyler sulked into the room and sighed as she sat down in the front of the class. As she unpacked the necessary supplies she would be needing to take notes, she couldn't help but wonder what their lesson would be about. She looked up at the professor and gave a small smile and proceeded to doodle on the side of her parchment until class started.

Boggleworth bustled noisily into the room saying cheerfully in a load voice "Top of the morning to you one and all," in a fairly decent Irish accent then he lost it when he said "Let's get on with this show then, do you need a volunteer sir?" he enquired grinning as he dumped his grimy old satchel on a desk.

"Thank you for volunteering Henry, but yes, I do." Leigh said, relaxing in his chair. With a simple flick of his wand, Leigh sent the red mist over to Henry, where it encircled him and flew straight through his open mouth. "It's not going to do him any harm, so don't worry." Smiling, Leigh stood and walked over to the Hufflepuff student. "This spell simply works by deceiving the target into believing they are any creature that you wish them to be. The colour of the mist varies on the creature. Red, for example, is a gold fish. And don't worry, all I have to do is snap my fingers and he'll be back to normal, soon enough."

"Make him into a mongoose." Thom smiled encouragingly. "It would suit him!"

"I think a gold fish is embarassing enough for the lad." Leigh said, snapping his fingers and allowing Henry to return to normal. Red mist filtered out from his ears and vanished soon after. "Now, the incantation is long and lengthy, so this is a spell to use when you knowingly go into battle. I know about the unpredictability of life, but the fact remains, this spell can also be used for fun."

Boggleworth smirked after his experience of being a goldfish, "Nice one sir!" he grinned "though you and I both know that won't shut my mouth! Anytime you need a volunteer just say the word!" he chuckled mischeveously.
