Thom skidded to a hault as they reached the moving stair cases. One far bellow groaned loudly as the wood shifted slowly, an echoing locking sound rising up to him as it jerked into place. The howling was echoing from everywhere now, coming out of the various stairs and corridor passages, although he knew it was really racing behind them. "Quick, Bog - which is the fast stairs to the dungons?"

Apronia's Point Me spell was going mad. I thought they were just going to the Hufflepuff dorms. The spell swivelled again even as the school's wards pinged the alarm. A Dark creature meaning harm had entered the castle. And she would bet all her galleons it was the reason for their flight to the dungeons. Bugger.
She ran faster.

Thom held his head in his hands. The darkness was throbbing in him, pulsating in waves of pleasure and coolness - but it felt tight, restraining, as if it were slowing working to trap him in some sort of shell. He looked up. One passage far bellow was dimly lit, a streak of light stretching across the stone floor. Thom sobbed, looking away from it.
The darkness was not protecting him. It was making him into something else...

"Come on Thom, pull yourself together!" exclaimed Boggleworth trying to re-assure Thom he put a comforting arm around his shoulder and continued "fastest way you ask, why just follow the old prefect!" he chuckled leading Thom down the closest staircase.

Apronia saw the boys below her and leapt off the top of the staircase, falling into a crouch at the bottom, cursing inwardly at the pain that jarred through her frame. No matter, she had to talk to Thom.
"Where are you running?" she cried. "This thing cannot be lost in simple cooridors!" her brain was racing. Where could she take them? "Follow me!" she began running down, ever down, through winding passages to the Warding room, where Hogwart's wards had their heart and were at their strongest. Not even the strongest Dark magic could enter that room. She spared a worry for Thom, wondering how he would fare, but she saw no other option.
(OOC: hey, I didn't know where you were going with this, Boggleworth, but the thread's been quiet for a few days so i thought i'd offer this. if you had another scheme i'd be glad to retract this.)

(ooc It's great you've come! Lead away, any scheme is welcome) Boggleworth looked dubiously at Apronia but followed her anyway dragging Thom behind him. "Come on Thom let's get somewhere safe, or should I say safer." He trotted along worriedly hoping Apronia would have some answers.

Apronia led them to a thick oak door. She placed both hands against the solid, aged wood and murmured a thick coil of Latin as rapidly as she could. The door gave an unearthly screech as it shifted open, and light blazed outwards, blinding the three of them temporarily as Apronia seized a sleeve and pulled that boy in behind her, hoping the other followed.

Post by Cashew Dumbledorable on Jul 28, 2006 20:45:43 GMT
Cashew had been patrolling the castle for brigands, peeping toms and, most importantly, the great evil in the forest when she heard a commotion in a neighboring corridor. Assuming it must be the terrible psychic force she had come to hogwarts to dispatch, Dumbledorable kicked up her heels and lifted herself in to the air and floated soundlessly toward the sound.
Arriving at the warding room, Cashew discovers the door to be firmly locked. Certain that this was not the evil she had been pursuing, as no dark magic could be stowed within its walls, the young healer decided it must be students and cowardly adult wizards who had taken refuge inside. This means the great evil was still about. Cashew spun around, wand and potions-holster in hand, a baffled but gorgeous expression on her excellently proportioned face. "Show yourself at once," she cried with great superiority and truly masterful elocution. "Take heed lest ye be subjected to transformations most heinous!" Cashew tossed a potion in to the dark for emphasis, causing a suit of armor to transfigure in to a high quality but moderately priced boom box stereo.
By the time the music came on Cashew began to wonder if there was anything there at all.

(OOC: actually the warding room is very bright, almost blindly so)
Apronia squinted into her own shadow and found the hideously peppy healer standing defiantly, yelling at them. She slammed and spelled the door closed right in Cashew's face, and turned to see how Thom's darkness was handling the burning light of the wards.
