(continued from "dragon hatchling" thread) Boggleworth wondered what on earth was going on as he began to levitate Thom back to the Hufflepuff common room. He mused whilst he looked concernedly at Thom. He limped around the corner, slap straight into a purposely placed suit of armour, and that was all that was needed, a momentary lapse in concentration for the levitation spell to break dropping Thom heavily to the dusty stone floor. Boggleworth lept over to Thom apologising "sorry about that!"

"Oooooow, GOD!" Thom was rocked back into conciousness, the back of his blazing, white spots suddenly bouncing around in the dakrness. He had cried out in anger more than pain. He felt the freezing stone beneath him, and realised they were no where near the warm, creaking wood of the Hufflepuff dorms. "What was that clang?" he asked. "Armour?"
Thom found that the light was not hurting him anymore, as the nighttime corridors of Hogwarts required none. The two of them were plunged in pitch blackness, only their senses making out the faint shades of portraits and other objects. Their voices seemed to echo.

"yep fraid so, someone put it there on a purpose. Ah well, let's get going!" he exclaimed cheerfully though he looked around cautiously like a rabbit searching for predators, he especially gave Thom a curt look. what is wrong with him? he wondered in his head and the voice of Henry answered looks to me like somethin evil has got a hold of 'im I didn't ask you well you got an answer so live with it! He doesn't like the light yeah, I noticed that gives it away that e's evil, keep 'im out the light hmm suppose I'd better He gave Thom a hand up asking "ca va? I mean are you alright?"

Thom took hold of Boggleworth's hand lazily, but made no effort in help the other Hufflepuff pull him up. The darkness was making him stronger now, but also more relaxed, and thus was feeling insolent. "I'm fine." he said a little defensively. "No thanks to you," he was referring to his head.
What the hell am I saying? Bog is helping me!

insolent little git, give taste of his own medicine! you're crazy! I'll deal with this my way "accidents happen!" laughed Boggleworth ready to forget it. He yanked Thom up "see no harm done!" he said calmly remember the evil! don't worry! you'll be sorry when he blasts you he won't Boggleworth thought full of confidence. But then he saw the dimness in Thom's eyes and wasn't quite so sure...

Thom stood up, remaining silent. There was no light penetrating anywhere, but he found himself able to see. The sleeker surfaces in sight seemed to have an effect to them, and it reminded Thom of walking through a dark room and looking into a mirror - you could always see mirrors for some reason, he realised. He looked back at the suit of armour, which seemed to be glowing. Was it his new eyes? "Can you see that?" he asked Boggleworth suddenly. "Look at it..."

Boggleworth grimaced what's wrong with him? he wondered the evil, can't you see the glint in his eye? he can see things much clearer than you, in fact things you can't even see at all ok time to panic then, only joking I'll keep as icy cool as ever good you're gonna need it, where's his wand? I've got it, when I disarmed him great! just be careful I'm not hating you so much now oh thanks! thought Boggleworth sarcastically cautiously he murmered "what are you looking at?"

"The amour." he said impatiently. "It shimmers... can't you see?"
He stared at it for a long time, his head tilting from side to side in fascination. The more he looked at it, the harder it pulsed with darkly light. Maybe it has life in it... he thought musingly.
The hollow, howling noise suddenly returned. It was distant, very distant, but it was moving along the path that they had just followed, tracing their steps, searching for them. It was still outside but drawing in. It was like wind through a gap in a window, but with an intelligence. It chilled Thom to his core and he was suddenly scared. "Listen!" he hissed to Boggleworth desperately. "It's coming!"

"No I can't see any shimmering Thom!" he said with concern. worry about yourself not that dunce. I can't be bothered to argue with you! Then Boggleworth noticed how scared Thom looked "What the hell's wrong?" he asked wondering what on earth could scare Thom so much. something evil must be coming how do you know? call it a hunch, and stop blabbering! "What is coming?" Boggleworth asked again thinking Thom was going slightly, no make that very crazy but then again he had a voice in his head so how could he comment!

"I don't know." Thom replied darkly. "Lets run... we can't hide." he turned on his heel and began to walk swiftly through the darkness. He then remembered Boggleworth had no way of seeing. He grabbed the prefect's robes. "Come on - I know a place we can hide!" he said.
Not long ago he had taken a Ravenclaw called Aera down a hidden passage behind a tapestry in a bid to spy on Slytherins. If they could get to it, there was a fork half way through that led in three different directions. They could confuse the creature...

"Oh where the hell are we going Thom? Not a secret hiding place everyone knows about!" he laughed but then thought better of it and disguised it with a muffled cough. This situation was too serious and strange. "Thom you need to explain, you're contradicting yourself, hide no run, no we should hide! Explain and I can help!" he said seriosuly he continued with an order "I demand an explanation how else can I assess the situation?" you're not as dumb as you look oh thanks! That's a great compliment from you though He kept up with Thom with long strides though his limp slowed him a little...

Thom stopped abruptly and turned round to face Boggleworth. His eyes really did have a red glow in them now. "Shut up!" he hissed in a voice that wasn't his. "How am I meant to explain when I do not know myself? You know nothing!" his face was very close to Boggleworth's, his teeth bared. "What magic do you know that can defeat darkness...?"
Thom stumbled back, coughing and spluttering. "Oh, what..." he rubbed his temples. That hadn't been him, surely?
Regaining his posture, he began to run again. "I don't know! I just don't know!"

Boggleworth frowned thoughtfully at Thom's retreating back, he wasn't phased at all by Thom's voice and eyes he was more afraid for Thom himself. see the evil is taking over fabulous, I don't suppose you know magic to defeat darkness? in fact I do! I might have known I have my uses "Actually Thom I know more than you'll ever know!" he said sincerly "and that's not necessarily a good thing!" he laughed struggling to keep up with Thom because of his limp.

Thom frowned achingly. It had not been him who had said those things, he knew that. Something was being drawn out of him by the darkness, an evil being which had not even been there before. Thom looked back on when the Dark Figure had approached him. He had seemed so sure and in control... he now knew better.
The howling was turning to a wailing now. It was inside the castle. Thom leaped down a flight stairs. "Hurry!" he shouted.

Boggleworth struggled to keep with the fast pace Thom was setting, it was crystal clear Thom was scared almost witless. Boggleworth carefully picked his way down a staircase not wanting to fall and break his neck. "I'm going as fast as I can Thom, don't worry!" let's pray it's fast enough a little optimism please with the life I've had, no way! fine
