Carrie headed down staircase upon staircase, to purposely leave the Gryffindor Common Room long behind. She was fed up.. though fed up with what exactly, she wasn't sure. The Gryffindor was soon on the ground floor of the castle, and she strolled down the corridor without any particular destination in mind.
Her expression was only a ghost of her normal one.. with her usual bright, telling eyes.. a rather dull green. Carrie finally lifted her head to find herself just outside Hogwarts courtyard, and decided it was a good as place as any to be. She sat down on a bench over on the far side, that was partially concealed. Crossing her legs, she leant her head back to look at the sunny sky above.

Draco clenched his jaw as he strode out of the castle in an extremely dark mood. He had been irritated for the past couple of days for reasons unknown, and the constant letters from his father did nothing to help keep him calm.
Walking aimlessly through the courtyards, he almost missed the figure of McEwan as she was nearly hidden from view. Narrowing his eyes slightly, he walked slowly toward her, stopping just in front. He waited until he grabbed her attention, before retrieving his usual calm, collected expression.
"Where's Mondego?" He asked coldly, not even taking the time to greet her properly. "Not hanging off his arm anymore, then?"

Carrie heard the sound of someone approaching, and only went to lift her head to face them when their shadow came over her. Seeing who it was, she raised her eyebrows in slight surprise, before moving her head back again in an attempt to seem unbothered with the arrival. 'Nice to see you too, Malfoy.' The Gryffindor stated with a roll of her eyes, noticing him cut straight to the chase.
'I suppose you want to find him to look out for his "reputation"..' Carrie began, knowing all too well Malfoy didn't actually want to know where Fernand was. 'I mean, wouldn't it be terrible if someone actually liked me..' She continued, before pausing at the realisation that his words from their last meeting had affected her more than she thought. She suddenly shot her head up again. 'And I was never hanging off his arm.' A perhaps unwilling amused expression crept upon her face.

Draco stared at McEwan for a moment before looking away haughtily, "I don't see what's so good about Mondego," He started, "He's got no wit, no humour... And no style. Did you see that hideous cloak?" Crossing his arms over his chest, he continued, "I can't believe you actually like him."
Finally looking back at McEwan, he noticed the amusement in her expression and frowned, "I suppose your taste in guys is the same as your taste in sweets." He said offhandedly. "Not very good." He added after a moment.

Carrie tilted her head slightly to the side and looked at Malfoy for a moment or two, her previous bad mood seemingly forgotten. 'I never thought I would see the day where Draco Malfoy commented on my love life.' She gave a slight laugh whilst shaking her head. 'Not that it can be called that..' She added as she bit her lip slightly.
'And I'll have you know, I have very good taste..' She paused to look at him with a smirk. '..in sweets.'

Draco raised an eyebrow, his eyes still addressing her coldly, "Your love life looked fully in tact at the Three Broomsticks the other day," He said indifferently, letting his arms drop back to his sides.
After a small pause in which he studied the courtyard, he regarded the Gryffindor once more. "So you admit your taste in a partner is as horrible as Mondego's taste in fashion, then?" A small smirk appeared on his lips, "And not to mention, your taste in sweets was only acceptable after I got rid of those rodents." His eyes lit up with slight amusement, as he caught McEwan's eye.
"You liked the toads, I presume?"

Carrie lowered her gaze as Malfoy once again brought the date into the conversation. 'Well, yes, it was fully in tact.. until someone interrupted.' She looked back to Malfoy, and her lips formed a small smile.. it was not as if she had minded. 'And I admit no such thing.' She told him matter-of-factly, with a touch of playfulness in her voice. 'Besides, I liked Fernand's cloak.. but I guess I'm not as into fashion as some people.' The Gryffindor eyed him with a smirk as she mentioned "some people".
Carrie couldn't help but grin, as Malfoy amusedly mentioned her "rodents" again. 'I happen to quite like those mice. Though, yes, those peppermint toads are good.' She figured there was no point going into detail about how she had already been back three times for another supply of them.. she was sure her confession of liking them would please him enough.

Draco smirked when she mentioned she wasn't as into fashion as he was, "Yes, that much is obvious, McEwan." He said with amusement as he eyed her appearance, though there was a slight teasing to his tone that he was sure she caught.
His smirk disappeared once more, however, as he remembered the day he disrupted her date. A faint flush appeared on his cheeks from embarrassment, and he looked away, his attention on the castle doors which would open every few moments to let a new student through. "Why didn't things work out with Mondego, then?" He asked shortly, "Finally realized his company was as enjoyable as a troll's?"

A small laugh escaped Carrie's lips as Malfoy teasingly commented on her appearance. 'You're just jealous that I can look good without needing to resort to so called fashion.' She said playfully, sounding more confident about herself than she felt.
Her lips soon spread into a smile as she noticed a rare blush creep onto Malfoy's face. 'It was only ever one date.' She told him, glancing towards the floor. 'No more, no less.' She continued with a shrug, raising her gaze once more. 'But how about you?' Carrie asked, sitting up straighter in interest. 'Surely the great Draco Malfoy has got himself someone special?' The Gryffindor watched his expression smirking.
