[Cl] CoMC Term 1, Lesson 1

[glow=lightgreen,2,300]Professor Dara swept into her classroom early, carrying a large cage, covered by a black velvet sheet. She set it down on a brass stand and then sat down behind her cherry wood desk, awaiting her classes arrival.[/glow]

[Helia Ollivander]

"Good morning professor," said Helia as she walked into class. She had been waiting for Care of Magical Creatures class to start, and it finally had! She took a seat at the very front of the class, so asa not to miss a single thing. "So what's our lesson today?"

[Kim Rivers]

Kim walked in and sat down at the back. She was still pretty tired so she muttered a groggy good morning and waited for the prof. to start the lesson

[glow=lightgreen,2,300]"Welcome class. This year in Care of Magical Creatures class, I have gotten special permission from the Ministry of Magic so that I can show you some of the mor edangerous creatures in the wizarding world. Todays lesson is on a bird; a bird whose call is the most beautiful thing you've ever heard, but if anyone listens too long, it will drive them mad." she smirked, an excited twinkle in her eyes. "Would anyone care to take a guess at what this animal is?" she asked looking around the room. She saw a few hand reach into the air and nodded to one of the students, "Yes, you there. Tell me what your guess is."[/glow]

[Kim Rivers]

"A... um... phoenix?" she guessed. she had absolutly no idea but she took a wild stab anyway.

[profdara]

[glow=lightgreen,2,300]"No, but thank you for taking a guess Miss Rivers. Five points to slytherin for participation." she swept across the room to the velvet laiden cage, "The bird I am talking about is the one and only...Fwooper!" she said pulling the cloth away. She heard gasps from around the room as the the yellow and orange plumed bird began to sing.
"Now then, can anyone tell me what is unusual about the Fwoopers eggs?" she asked while recovering the cage that the bird might shut its beak before the class went batty.[/glow]

[Kim Rivers]

Kim raised her hand in the air. Not to answer the question because she had no idea but to ask one. "Whats a Fwooper? I havnt ever heard of one of those before" She asked confused.

[glow=lightgreen,2,300]"If you want the dictionary version, the Fwooper is a brightly-coloured bird of African origin. It can have plumage of many different colours including orange, pink, green and yellow. They also lay brightly coloured and patterned eggs. Fwooper song sounds appealing to begin with, but will eventually drive the listener insane." She thought a moment, "Well, I sort of gave away the answer, but who was listening and can tell me now what is strange about the Fwoopers egg?"[/glow]

[Kim Rivers]

"The eggs are brightly coloured and patterned?" she giggled

[glow=lightgreen,2,300]"Very good Miss Rivers. Let's call that ten more points for slytherin then, shall we?" she smiled. "Now then, today in class we will be learning a very simple spell that can save you from the Fwooper, and many other creatures without harming them, yourself, or using any exhorbitant amount of magic. The spell is 'Immobulus'. Would anyone like to take a guess at what the spell does?" she asked looking around the room. She saw a new student raise their hand and called upon them to answer this time.[/glow]

[Brian Chase]

Brian saw that he was called on, ''It stops things from moving, I think.''

[profdara]

[glow=lightgreen,2,300]"Very good mister Chase. Ten more points for slytherin. Now mister Chase, would you be so kind as to come up to the front of the class and demonstrate for us?" she asked gesturing for him to come down beside her.[/glow]

[Brian Chase]

Brian got up, loving to be in demonstrations walked over to the front of the class.

[glow=lightgreen,2,300]"Alright then, I'm going to count to three, and then I'm going to pull the sheet off this cage again. When the Fwooper starts singing I want you to flick your wand at it and say 'Immobulus', okay? One... Two... Three!" she pulled the black velvet sheet off the cage and backed away quickly so that mister chase could perform the spell.[/glow]

[Brian Chase]

Brian pulled out his wand at two and when it sang'' Immobulus!'' The bird froze in its position and Brian was glad to have preformed the spell.
