Algernon's mouth fell open, his gaze turning quickly to the Gryffindor, whose presence he had not previously noticed. "50 points from Gryffindor!" He said, voice dripping with disbelief. "And if I ever hear you talking to a teacher like that again I will personally inform your head of house, do you understand?"

Fin couldn't help but chuckle at the Professor's responce to the Gryffindore's misconduct. He'd never really liked Professor Addis, but he wasn't about to start attacking him personally. Sneakily putting on his fake prefect badge, he stepped forward, and stuck out his chest. "And you should be ASHAMED of yourself, whatever-your-name-is! Talking to a teacher like that, how dare you!"

Leigh sighed, then laughed. "Another 50 points from Gryffindor, plus detention with me for a week. Would you like more punishment? I can do it, if you would like it." Leigh offered, then returning his attention to Algernon. "Isn't it funny that Fin isn't a prefect, but using a prefect's power? That's whats calling abusing power, McFinnigan." Leigh snapped his fingers, pointing at the Gryffindor girl. "You keep quiet, or I will strip Gryffindor of all of it's points."

"Er... so it appears, Professor Addis. I'm going to have to confiscate that false badge, Mr. McFinnigan," Algernon told him, smiling apologeticly. He had every intention of giving it back later, but it wouldn't do for him to look soft in front of Professor Addis, even not to his own students, and especially not with a well-known trouble-maker like Fin.

Thom, still sprawled on the the floor, had been too shocked to reply right away - but now he smiling foolishly at the Gryffindor. I like their spunk, he thought to himself.
Hoping that they had forgotten Thom's own breaking of the rules, he cleared his throat. Hesitantly he tapped Professor Moncrieff and Professor Addis's feet. "Sorry bout this," he said apologetically. "Can I have a hand up?"

Professor Moncrieff looked down at the Hufflepuff in surprise, having forgotten entirely that he was there. "Er... Yes, of course." He bent down slightly, reaching his hand out to grasp the boy's own hand, and pull him to his feet.

Brushing the stoney dust off his back and britches, Thom grinned up at Professor Moncrieff. "A little harsh on the Gryffindor, don't you think? Bravery is their, er, best attribute - can you blame her for being a little madam?"

Algernon raised an eyebrow at the Hufflepuff, looking altogether unconvinced. "This young lady," He gestured toward the Gryffindor, "Was not being in any way brave. She was openly, and unprovacatedly, insulting a teacher, as well as insinuating that he had a nonprofessional relationship with a student. I certainly think that warrents the removal of fifty points, and if Professor Addis thinks it should be a hundred I will stand behind him on that as well."

Thom's face burned a violent red, the heat spreading past his eyes and down his throat. "Alright, keep your hair on..." he rasied his hands defensively. Turning back to the gathering, Thom was startled by a distant clock chiming two o'clock. "Well, I, er, best be off..." he began to edge away, hoping against hope that his own rule breaking had been forgot.

"Yes sir Professor Moncrieff sir!" Fin said, giving his head of house his fake badge. He then noticed the Hufflepuff trying to sneak away. Fin thought about exposing his rule breaking, but then decided against it. He'd let him go for now.
