Apronia cursed, seeing Professor Black's robe disappearing around a tree in front of her. She whistled sharply, detouring and taking a more direct route to the clearing where the unicorn herd was idly munching, guarded by the bows and clubs of centaurs.
"One of the Professors is in the forest, hunting werewolves." she paused, the centaurs all staring at her. "Frankly, I think he's a bit deranged at the moment. I'm going to try and stop him." they blinked at her inscrutably and went back to scanning the forest. Apronia hid and waited to see if Black would appear.

Mandrake heard Apronia behind him. He qiuckly transformed into a dragon and thundered into the forest the sword levitating overhead.

Apronia cursed as a dragon lumbered past her, the silver sword marking it as the Professor. "Of all the witless, thoughtless displays, putain de..." she trailed off into obscenity, biting a fingernail. Her eyes lit up.
A few minutes later, she was staring deeply into the eyes of a frothy-mouthed werewolf, growling lightly to indicate her dominance. It looked at the ground, and began to seek the Professor. Apronia instructed it to maintain a safe distance and went back to the centaurs and unicorns in the clearing.

Mandrake went back human, dropped the sword and walked to the castle to his ofice like a good little boy.

After several hours of fruitlessly searching, her illusory werewolf returned to her and disinegrated, and she realized the Professor had inexplicably vanished. "Maybe an Acromantula ate him." she muttered, tired, and wandered into the "Finding Cain" thread.

Once mandrake made sure she was gone he went back into the forest. He found the sword again and went deeper into the forest.

Apronia lifted her head, smelling the wind with her useless human nose. She wondered, as she pushed past branches (some of which pushed back) if the other Professors heard voices of flora in their dreams, or it was just her, since she technically was their keepers.
She concealed herself behind a mound of loam when she saw the barest flicker of movement. A silver sword shone in the early dawn light that trickled through the trees.
The moon had long since set. What was Mandrake doing here hunting werewolves at this hour?

Mandrake searched the ground looking for the werewolf footprints. He found them and continued searching and thought "Any human in the forest will be killed." the werewolves arent dangerous because of the moon but Mandrake was going to kill them when they least expected it.

Apronia trailed him worriedly, flitting from shadow to shadow. The professor ran ahead of her, searching...
He's looking for them still, she realized. He doesn't care that they're in human shape. He'll kill any human he finds. She reached back into her quiver and picked out the lightest of the shafts, the one tipped with cork. She popped it off, smelled the tiny barb, the bitter drug that contained enough chemical to knock out a herd of deer, and paused in her running to string her huge bow. She was careful not to catch it on branches as she sped forward, closing the gap between her and the professor. Getting to a relatively clear spot, she sent up a tiny prayer, drew, and fired.
The dart-like arrow flew true through the trees, hitting the Professor's exposed neck. It kicked in after 15 minutes in large animals, generally. She just had to pray that he wouldn't kill her before then.

Mandrake felt a sudden pain in his neck. He let out a roar and, accidentally shot flame. He turned and looked for something. He seen Apronia. He charged swinging his massive head, and closed the gap between them. He let out a breath of fire. Burning a few trees in his anger. He started to feel a little dizzy but focused, planning his attack.

Apronia dove behind a tree, cursing. She peeked around the edge, looking at the ferocious dragon raging in the clearing. He knocked over a tree near her, and she crawled slightly beneath it, using its truck to sheild her from view as she increased the distance between the Professor and herself.
Please let it work soon! she prayed.

Professor Mandrake started spitting flame. He caught the whole clearing on fire. He looked out the corner of his eye at the arrow. He bit it and pulled it out. Blood stained the shaft , but a green liquid was on the tip. "Poison." he thought bitterly getting dizzier by the minute. He swung his massive tail at anything and everything. He crushed trees and stomped everywhere. With no sign of Apronia, he stumbled on into the forest burning everything around him.

The sedative should kick in soon. she thought, biting her lip. The Professor was stumbling around, uncoordinated and woozy. I hope he turns back into a human when he loses conciousness so I can move him somewhere... worriedly, she followed him at a safe distance, knowing the blurring of his vision would conceal her from his perception.

Mandrake was getting dizzier by the minute, but he did not stop burning everything. He thought about going human and maybe getting a spell off, but he didn't dare take the risk. He suddenly went numb, and couldn't see anymore. He fell blind and lay there barely conscious for a minute. Then he lost all consciousness.
