"I wounder how a tree would dance? If it was on the moon there must be some restrictions unless it was wearing special boots."
Girty broke the silence as the image of dancing trees filled her head.

Grace examined her nails, "my father has alcohol poisoning and had a heart attack." She looked at Girty expecting a screaming match to follow, it always happened that way...

Girty turned to look at Grace, examine her in look for a joke. But why would anyone joke about that? she thought.
"Wow, you kept that quite. When did this happen?" Girty started to rub her arms, due to her being nervous and also the cold wind started to get to her.

Grace felt terrible for not having told her friends about her father. "It's not -I just don't like to talk about my father." She looked down, "it happened at the start of term. He- then he- it's just that he's not a very nice man." Grace looked at Girty again, "I'm sorry I havn't told told you before, it's just that I'm- I'm- I'm embarressed by- and I don't want to become-" she dropped her gaze "-I just don't like talking about him. But it just gets to you sometimes. And then something happens that reminds me of him and I just can't handle it anymore..." she paused and looked out over the lake "...so when- I just needed to think a bit... about what I'm going to do about my father's ... uh... problem!"
There was a long silence between the two friends, then Grace continued, "so I came here to think... air out my brain."

Girty sat silent, she did not blink in fact she did not breath for a bit. She sat motionless. Dear me she thought May i should have reminded silent
Girty then stood up and picked up a stone. With all her strength she threw it as far as she could into the lake. She then turned around and looked at Grace with a smile.
"Well I'm here for you mate. When ever you need it. If you want i will leave you in peace, or i can sit here like a muffin and make the odd comment."

"No, no, no," Grace stared at Girty with a longing for company, "I'm- I'm happy we've come, I'm happy I've told someone, and I'm happy it was you!" She tweeked her frown into a small lobsided smile.

Girty smiled back. She started to mock Grace only as a joke. "Good o. I'm happy you told me. I'm happy that you like my company and I'm happy that you have not hit me yet for mocking you." Girty giggled and fell back wards over a lump in the ground.

"I'd never do that," Grace said, hurt at the suggestion that she could or would think of doing something one would expect her father to do. "Besides that would mean actually moving and at this point I favour not doing anything." She lay back and stared into the sky, the clouds and nothingness.

Girty sighed, at a sensitive time for her friend she could not keep her mouth shut.
"Sorry. I did not mean you would. You do not have that inside you to hurt me. Well i hope so. It is just that i have to get use to being tough due to my friends back home. They would have hit me and thrown me in the lake."
Girty laughed and lay down by Grace looking at the sky, thinking of home.

"Tell me about your home," Grace asked. Girty always mentioned it but never anything more then a fleeting thought.

"My home??" Girty was took back by the question. "It is no where near here. A town called Stafford, a place of no consequence apart form those luckily enough to live it. I live in a muggle estated, in a street full of muggle families. All my friends are muggles and well i love it."
She looked over at Grace. "Anything else??"

Girty laughed at the thought of describing her house.
"It is small really. Three rooms downstairs and four rooms upstairs. The bathroom is even bigger then my bed room. It is a pale mint green, but you can hardly see it as my room is covered in posters of motor racing cars." She stopped again and thought about her bedroom and the millions of pictures she has up.
"It is just the right size for four people to live in. Now my brother has moved out it sometimes feels empty."
