Faith sighed softly as she leisurely walked in the direction of the lake. Her Slytherin robes drooped a bit at her shoulders, exposing her upper arms to the warm air around her. She brushed a loose hair out of her eyes, and back to the messy, yet elegant bun on the back of her head and leaned against a lone tree, taking in the fresh air and scenery. She rolled her eyes and smirked softly as the giant squid raised a tentacle, piercing the center of the lake. After a few minutes, it came crashing back down, sending a spray of water in, thankfully, the opposite direction. Faith rolled her eyes again and loosely crossed her arms across her chest. "Bloody squid," she murmured quietly.

The weather had begun to warm up considerably, and Draco exited the castle doors without his usual cloak, and his hands in the pockets of his robes. His original plan was to go do his homework on the Quidditch stands, but an unfamiliar figure out on the lake caught his attention.
Stopping a short distance behind her, he smirked as he watched the squid taunt the student, like it usually did.
"If you're not careful," he said, grabbing the girl's attention. "The squid just might decide to make you it's supper. Though, this school is getting a bit overpopulated anyway, so I suppose it's hardly a big deal."

"I'm sure it'd much rather the taste of a mud-blood," Faith stated before turning around for her eyes to meet the Slytherin boy. "Therefore, I believe neither of us are in great danger." She raised an eyebrow inquiringly, looking him over.
"Faith Moore," she introduced herself, raising her head a bit instead of offering a hand.

Draco arched an eyebrow, giving the girl a once-over as well, though more discretely. He hadn't heard anyone else use the word 'mudblood' since he arrived at Hogwarts, and felt obliged to let his hands fall from his pockets and straighten his composure as he introduced himself, knowing full well that these were the kind of people his father wanted him to meet.
"Draco Malfoy." He stated importantly, doing some mental work in his head and trying to figure out if the `Moore` family was one of the Slytherin families he was expected to know.

"Ah, the infamous 'Draco,'" Faith smirked softly, having over-heard random students talking about him.
"Now, what brings you out here?" She asked, the question acting as a bit of a conversation-starter. "Surely not to feed the squid?" she asked, playing off his earlier statement a bit.

Draco glanced at the Lake water for a moment before turning back to the girl, a small smirk on his lips.
"Homework, mostly." He finally replied, "The castle is crowded with Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors," His eyes narrowed, "Can't get any peace at the library."
Then, looking at the girl intently, he examined her once more, his eyebrows raising, "Haven't you been to one of my mother's balls?" He asked, trying to place her. He was sure the Moore family name was familiar.

"Ah, I know what you mean," Faith nodded softly. "The common room used to be a safe-house, but with all the fake Slytherins... well..." she huffed a bit, not feeling like she had to finish the sentence.
Faith bit her lip, thinking about Draco's second statement. "...If I was, I must've been fairly young." She looked him over again, just then realizing how vaguely familiar he seemed.

"Most-likely," Draco said offhandedly, "Seeing as how I haven't seen you at any of the more recent ones." He had remembered being very young and kept in one of the playrooms at the manor while the adults enjoyed the formal balls his mother liked to throw. He tried to remember each of the children's faces, frowning when all he could remember was their insistent nanny's voice, telling them all to settle down.
After a small pause, he looked back back at Moore and grimaced, "Met many of the Slytherins around here, then?" He said with distaste, brushing off his robes, "They're as bad as the Gryffindors, aren't they?"

"It is rather odd, though. My parents just adore visiting, seeing how we normally attend more than enough balls during break," she stated with a slight roll of the eyes. It's not that Faith hated the social gatherings or being able to purchase a new outfit for every one, for that matter. It was just... well, you've been to one ball, you've been to them all.
"Haven't really met any of them," she shrugged carelessly, "but I've seen enough to determine that I shouldn't waste my time." As she thought back to a few of the Slytherin students, one of the statements that Professor Snape made came to mind. "I have little hope of any of you becoming true Slytherins." She shook her head, realizing how right he was.

"Right, and my mother decides to have a ball nearly every day during break. How Strange. She tries to get anyone even remotely important to come to those things." He paused, his eyes wandering over the Slytherin once more, before looking back at her eyes with satisfaction. Her robes were hardly made from cheap fabric and she did hold a very superior posture. All signs of someone important, or at least rich, if anything. Mother enjoyed rich company as well, he noted, a sigh bubbling in his throat.
"I wouldn't bother either," He said, finally easing up a little, deciding she had marked him down as 'important-big-bad-slytherin' as well. "Too much spirit, if you ask me. It's either that or extremely thick," he added, thinking of Chase.

Faith shrugged slightly, loosening up a bit herself. "Who knows? Perhaps they drifted apart, or something," she suggested, though she hardly believed herself. There was absolutely no chance of her mother 'drifting apart' from a family quite as important as Draco's, or at least as important as he portrayed himself to be.
"I personally think they need a more reliable source to sort students. The hat is surely not doing the job." God, how she remembered that horrid day when they placed the ratty hat on her head. The only good that had come of that was that she was placed in Slytherin. Faith smirked softly, taking a guess that Draco would agree.

"I think it has more to do with that old nut, Dumbledore," He said, remembering the legends of one of the 'greatest wizards' ever. He scowled, "All that rubbish about house unity and whatnot." He shrugged, turning to Moore with a raised eyebrow. "Though, some families obviously have kept up regular tradition," he said approvingly, before letting a hand run through his hair.
"My parents don't drift, they cling." He said with a slightly amused glance. "Doesn't matter either way, I suppose. I could always convince mother to invite you to one of the balls if it's what you really want." He smirked slightly, "It'd be nice to have someone who doesn't view me as an infant and smell like whisky around once in a while."

"True," Faith agreed, just now considering the old Headmaster. She shook her head slightly, not having known the man at all, but after hearing her father's constant rants about him and his rather odd speaches... she was glad she hadn't. "I'm glad to have met someone of high standards, myself," Faith smiled softly.
"Ah, another ball," Faith sighed. "I'd love to come to one, especially where I'm not constantly talked about as if I'm not there." She nodded slightly, almost rolling her eyes at remembering all the comments she'd received indirectly. God, how she was tired of being viewed as just a painting.

Draco grunted in agreement, "Or constantly talked to and about- Either way, it's bloody annoying." He shrugged and looked at Moore with amusement. "I'll write home to mum then, she'll be glad to know that not all the Slytherins are hopeless. She had started to believe Hogwarts had lost its touch."
He looked out to the lake for a moment, "Sometimes it gets so boring around here," He sighed, shrugging off his robes and smoothing them neatly over the grass. Then, sitting down he looked at Moore with a slight smile.
