Thom tapped his foot impatiently, occassionally glancing up and down the bustling corridor in search of a familiar face to join his jaunt. "Where is everyone...?" he mouthed silently to himself, having been waiting quite a while.
He had planned to sneak into one of his favourite secret passages, down near the dungeons. It was one that led right past the Slytherin common room, the stone thin enough to hear the drones of the snake-like students.
He intended to eavesdrop with any company he could find...

Five years in this damned castle and Aera was lost, yes, lost. She knew that Hogwarts was big, but obviously didn't know just how big it was. She was surprised that she didn't have a map somewhere in one of her pockets with all the crap she carried around. You could probably find a three course meal in her robes.
Where the hell am I? Nowhere near the Ravenclaw Common Room, that was for sure. After a few moments she didn't worry about it though. She wasn't going to find her way back by wandering around anymore. She'd probably end up in Spain trying to find the common room.
I may as well just... loiter. She carefully dodged the oncoming traffic as she made her way down the corridor, which was a difficult task for her. Aera eventually gave up and stepped aside. She let out a small sigh and looked around. She spied a mischievous-looking boy. Hmmm...
Aera walked over to him. "Up to no good?" She said with a casual smirk on her face.

Thom looked at the Ravenclaw in suprise as she came up to him. Wow, she's pretty, he thought, and gave a sly smile at her. "Perhaps," he said, giving an innocent roll of his eyes. "And yourself? Ravenclaws don't usually do anything but be teachers pets and goodie two shoes." he teased. He stood up straight, giving her a once over.

"Well, I'm not your average Ravenclaw," she replied. This boy was one to talk. She didn't know very many Hufflepuffs that caused trouble, let alone on purpose. But she didn't like to judge people by their house membership. Some people seemed to fit better in houses other than their own.
"I'm just wandering around, looking for something to do."

Thom shrugged. "Well I'm no average Hufflepuff. Haven't a clue what I'm doing in my house actually." he winked at the fifth year. "Looking for something to do? Well why don't you keep me company?" he pushed himselff off the wall, and still smiling at her, held back a heavy old tapestry for her. It revealed a thin narrow space in the stone work, sort of like a lightless passage that was made for some secret reason.

A smile slowly spread across her face. "I'd love to." She walked towards the secret passage that he revealed. She would have never guessed to look for a secret passageway there, but she wouldn't have guessed to look for one in the first place. She still had a lot to learn about this castle.
"I'm Aera, by the way," she said as she passed the Hufflepuff.

He watched her enter the passage and smiled. "Nice to meet you, Aera. I'm Thom." he entered after her, letting the curtain fall back into the place. The two of them were suddenly plunged into cool pitch darkness. There was a dripping echoing from somewhere down the passage, perhaps an ancient leak from the bathrooms that had yet to be found by the caretaker. Thom shuffled forward, the ground uneven. "Watch your step." he placed a hand on her shoulder. "Just keep going."

((lol. You put Area.))
"Nice to meet you too, Thom." The place was rather eerie. That could've been because she could barely see where she was going. The whole atmosphere reminded Aera of how old Hogwarts really was, and the thought didn't sit well with her. She was starting to get the creeps. She felt Thom's hand on her shoulders which made her feel a little more comfortable, although it made her blush as well. Thankfully he couldn't tell due to the lack of lighting.
She followed his directions and began walking forward. She felt the uneven floor under her feet. She tried every trick she knew to keep from falling and luckily she didn't.

((Whoops, changed it! ))
"I think this place was added on at least a couple of hundred years after Hogwarts was actually built. Feel the stone, it's rougher, like it hasn't been worn down by anything. Wouldn't it be cool if students made it? We could do it some time." He felt the skin of Aera's shoulder heat up, even though it was rather chilly. Their footsteps echoed as they carried on. "We'll have to go sideways soon, I think. I've never got to the end of this passage. There's a fork up ahead. I've always been -" he stopped, about to say 'too afraid', but thought better of it. "Always been too busy to make it." he said.

Aera thought for a moment about his suggestion. "Um, sure," she said. It's not like she had anything better to do. And Thom seemed like a nice enough person to spend time with. She listened to the rest of his statement and noticed how he paused towards the end. And.... here comes the lie. But she didn't mind. She was practically an expert liar herself, a quality that could be useful at times.

They carried on walking, their shoulders brushing the stone work, letting dust trickle onto their heads. Thom smiled. "You don't talk much do you?" he leaned closer, whispering into her ear.

She thought about that for a few seconds. "I guess not. Not around people I just meet, anyway." Aera didn't talk much because she wasn't used to it. She spent more time with books than people. Maybe she was a typical Ravenclaw.

Thom sighed inwardly at her private tone. She's a closed book, he thought wearly. I wonder what I could do to open her up...
"Lumous!" Thom held his wand above their heads, letting the vast light silently pulse at the tip. The light seemingly physically pressed against the walls and roof, and squinting, he watched it stretch further and further into the darkness ahead, as if it were slow enough to see.
Looking around, the walls were green and black, some stones thick with built up moss and slime from the leaking. He wrinkled his nose in distaste as he noticed it on his coat sleeve. "Lovely down here, isn't it?" his voice echoed more now. "I think the fork is just coming up..."

Aera felt a minor wave of relief flow through her when Thom lit his wand. But the sight of the passage wasn't pretty. Obviously the place hadn't been cleaned, probably not since it was built.
Aera laughed a little at Thom's comment. "Fit for a king," she replied. She didn't really understand how the rest of the castle could be so clean, and this so... unsanitary. The fork, eh? Aera was curious to know exactly what they were going to do after they got through this place.

They stepped out in a canervous space now, the walls beginning to slant the taller they got, they that they joined in a single point at the top of the 'room'. The floor was rather slippery now, and at least an inch of water rested on the floor, foul smelling and stagnent. They seperate now, Thom still holding his wand high above their heads. Before they stood three carved stone archways, each evenly placed and well built. He was beginning to wonder if it were students who had really built this. "I'll let you choose." he said simply. "The one the far right leads past the Slytherin common room. You can hear them usually. I'm not sure about the other two though..."
The middle one lead straight ahead, while the left seemed to curve away. Thom's wand light did not seem to penetrate far.
