"A raging torrent of thoughts? Come on Grace explain to this fool sat in front of you!" he chuckled wondering quite what thoughts she meant

Grace looked at Bog, she didn't want to but she had blabbed. "LC and her boyfriend and Keifer and his love triangle and how Jes fits in and Alana and her strange questions and my own things with Father and-" she sighed "-everything!" She blurted it out so fast she was heavy breathing at the end. She could not make eye contact with Bog again, she was ashamed.

Boggleworth chuckled "That's a lot of things for one person to worry about! If I had all those to think of I'd just tackle one problem at a time, and the hardest and most important one first. The one that affects you the most really! I know this sounds a little weird, but think of yourself first you're number one! Everything works itself out in the end!" he laughed "Cor blimey I know how to start yammering on don't I? But really first things first, your Dad, the others can wait for a sec. Tell me about him if you like whatever is best for you" Why does she make everybody's problems her own he wondered she's enough of her own but it's in her nature and she won't change. He smiled broadly at Grace eagerly anticipating her response.

Grace stared at Bog for a long minute, mouth slightly open. She didn't know what to say. She always wanted to help people, everyone all at once, because it distracted her from whatever she was running from (and she was indeed running). She didn't know how to respond. She closed her mouth and breathed in through her nose.
"What should I tell you?" she asked, frowning slightly. "What can I say that you don't already know!?"

Boggleworth smirked, "I don't really know a lot, for instance, where the hell is he now? You can tell me whatever you wish!"

"He's at a muggle hospital, in London," she said shortly. She avoided Bog's eyes, "any thing else? He's 40 years old, grew up in Scotland, has three sisters, but I never get to see them any more (not since mother-). He doesn't believe in family ties." She didn't know why she had said all that but she had.

Taking the most important information Boggleworth said "In hospital, why? He doesn't sound like a family man, that's for sure!" usually he would have chuckled but he thought the situation and topic too serious for it.

"The day before school started," she said, remembering that day, "Father and I had an argument about his... addiction. He hit-" she changed her mind half way through her sentence "-he went to a party in London and the next thing I know, I'm getting a phone call from that hospital telling me he arrived at half past three with alcohol poisoning." She took a deep breath and looked into her mug of butterbeer.
"He also had a heart attack so had to stay there for a while. Maddison Biggerstall wrote me and told me that he had a clotted artery in his brain and during his surgery had to have some operation on his heart. He's now in the intensive care unit and Maddison writes me often to tell me about the hospital and Father's room and the weather. She doesn't talk about Father often though, I'm glad for it too. She also asks me about myself, my school work, my friends, and she's..." Grace didn't know how to finish that sentence. "that's why he's in hospital." She slowly lifted her quivering glass to her dry lips and sipped slowly.

Boggleworth gulped some butterbeer giving him time to think before he blurted "a heart attack, well if he brought it upon himself, hmm, Biggerstall sounds great though, he's in good hands. Biggerstall" he seemed to vaguely remember that name "well anyway... so... do you feel better for that!" he said optimistically

Grace looked up at Bog and shook her head. "Some times I wish he had died in that party. But he's the only family I've got, even if it doesn't mean anything to him, so yes, I am." She looked into her mug and swirled it's contents.

Boggleworth muttered a little un-happily "ah family, something I've never really experienced, I wonder if its good or bad?" he then shook himself from his stupor and said more cheerfully "But I've all the family I need right here in hogwarts!"

Grace smiled weakly. "I'm the wrong person to ask about family being good or bad."

"On the contrary, you're the pefect person to ask, because you're family is more difficult, but I'm sure you still love them all!"

"One loves one's family because one must," Grace philosophized. "Besides it's not my family that is the issue, it's that ruddy drunk-" she spoke with a raging passion "-that calls himself my father. Even if his blood courses through my veins doesn't mean him his." She had not seen any other family since mother, and many arguments left her sore and crushed inside because he would not hear tell of seeing her family.

"They say blood is thicker than water, but is that really true, friendship is more important, you can pick and choose your friends to an extent, but not your family, you're stuck with them!" He sighed "It seems to me he's a tyrant that father" he sapt the word "of yours but you can and will break free of him, just have faith in yourself."
