Draco sat on one of the old benches lined up against the walls on the abandoned sixth floor corridor. He had been on his way to charms, when one of the slender eagles his father used to deliver letters, swooped down in front of him, distracting him from his task of getting to class.
He sat sideways, his legs pulled up onto the bench as his arm hung loosely off his knee, the letter dangling from his fingertips. Leaning against the wall, he let out a frustrated sigh, before unfolding it once again, his eyes glancing at the elegant, curvy handwriting with contempt.
Draco,
Your mother has informed me that you received a detention for using foul language. I do believe I do not have to remind you that Malfoy's must always display themselves as respectable purebloods who aren't easily provoked and most definitely do not use foul language in the presence of authority.
You've disappointed me Draco, though that seems to be something you've begun to do often. I don't want to hear anything else that can potentially damage your reputation, or mine for that matter, for the rest of the year.
As your punishment, you will not receive that new broom, though I don't see how that matters as you aren't even on the team. Nor will your mother send you any spending money or sweets for the remainder of the month.
If I hear you've landed yourself in another detention, then I will request you back to the manor and punish you myself. And we certainly do not want that, do we, Draco?
I don't expect a reply other than an update on your behavior,
Lucius Malfoy.
Sneering, he crumpled the letter tightly in his fist, staring at one of the portraits above him with hardly contained rage.

Boggleworth strolled the corridors aimlessly and then he saw somebody a sullen boy sat huched on one of the benches. "annoyed are you?" asked Boggleworth friendly

Draco rose his head, not even bothering to look at who was talking to him, and narrowed his eyes. "Yes, and you're not helping." He snarled, his anger preventing him from being even somewhat polite.

"well maybe I can help, you never know a chat can always help! get it off your chest!" advised Boggleworth as he sat down.

"No, I don't think it will." Draco said stubbornly, glaring as the boy sat himself down. "I don't have anything to get off my chest. Maybe I was just looking for some peace and quiet. Which again, you're not helping with." He crinkled the letter a little more in his palm, and looked away.

"well that attitude will get you nowhere in life, it seemed to me you had some bad news and the best cure is to tell another person!"

Carrie wandered down the sixth floor corridor at a casual pace, in no hurry to get to Charms on time. She heard a voice coming from round the corner and recognised it as the enthusiastic Hufflepuff that she had recently become friends with. It seemed to Carrie from the sentence she had heard, that he was with someone who was upset.. or perhaps angry, as Henry seemlingly tried to offer his help.
Curious, she continued around the corner as she was heading that way anyway, and her eyes widened to see him sitting with Malfoy. She almost wanted to laugh, as she had never seen anyone talk with the Slytherin that way and she was certain he would not appreciate it. Carrie didn't know whether to intrude or not.. though finally walked up to the pair. 'I see I'm not the only one avoiding Charms.' She said as an attempt to lighten the mood, as she looked at Malfoy with some concern. Never seen him looking that angry.

"hi Carrie how are you?" enquired Boggleworth jumping up with a shine in his eye. "tis true I'm not fussed about charms and neither is this lad I think!"

A voice cut in through the corridor just as Draco was about to let out another nasty retort, and he paused, his eyebrows raising just slightly when he realised who the voice belonged to. He listened to the Hufflepuff greet her, as he stared at the wall straight ahead of him.
"No, not particularly in the mood for charms at the moment," he muttered, still not moving his gaze from the wall, not having even looked at the Gryffindor yet.

Draco spared the Hufflepuff a glance, before his lips turned up wards slightly. "Energetic, aren't you?" He said quietly, before his scowl returned and he crossed his arms over his chest, leaning his head against the wall. "I'm not up for classes, obviously. You're not going to get me to go- I'll certainly not be ordered around by a Hufflepuff." He said, grimacing.

Boggleworth looked down at the Slytherin with a degree of sympathy "Well I miss lessons too but you just can't miss them all!" getting no response he carried on "and anyway I'm no ordinary Hufflepuff!" yes he thought I'm quite unique

Carrie was stood in front of the other two students and watched them with an amused half smile. 'Well thats true Henry, you are certainly no ordinary person.' She said with a slight laugh, before turning towards Malfoy. 'And if you're getting out of Charms, then I bloody am as well.' She said in all seriousness as she sat herself beside the Slytherin.

Draco didn't protest as she sat herself down, though avoided the two gazes directed at him. He didn't move either, still in the same loose, restless position that was definitely not one that his father would be proud of.
Always sit with a straight back, never slouched. And for goodness sakes Draco, don't slump!
Draco looked up at McEwan indifferently, before shrugging. "Are you sure you should? I mean, wouldn't that upset your inner Gryffindor?"
He looked away, the ghost of a smirk on his lips, before running a hand through his hair, his expression thoughtful.

Carrie eyed Malfoy, giving a small laugh after his comment. 'I'm sure my inner Gryffindor will cope.' She said forming a smirk. 'Besides, surely your inner Slytherin should be objecting to me sitting here?' She pointed out with an eyebrow raised questioningly, as she leant back against the wall and crossed her legs for comfort.
