Dara laughed slightly, "I think what Miss Marks is asking, is if all you can eat... well, drink, technically... is blood; If eating or drinking anything else is disapproved of in your society or not?"

Alana though for a minute, "Well, we eat regular food, but... blood is the only thing that keeps us alive"

"Yeah, that's what I mean!" Grace looked at the point on her skin where the needle had gone in. ... only a drop ... but it was bleeding; a long red line of shining red fluid dripped off the tip of her finger.
Grace put her thumb on the spot where it was bleeding from and bent her arm, pressing her forearmon her upper arm and pressing on the spot where it was bleeding. A crease formed in Grace's brow, "professor, it's still bleeding?! What's wrong?"

"Hm? Oh, sometimes that happens when someone uses the Minuo, that is, the magic syringe there, for the first time. Here," she set her wand tip at the point of blood flow and said, "Incruente". A cold blue light enveloped Grace's arm, making it glow for a moment, and then the flow of blood stopped, though the trail of drying blood was still there. "Just out of curiosity, Miss Marks... do you think you'll ever give up your blood for Alana again?" she was thinking that if the girl did, she would let Miss Marks have the little syringe... and teach Alana the healing spell, just in case. But if not, there wouldn't be much use for it.

Grace thought on this a while. "I don't see why not." Grace looked out the window. "How often would it need to be done? I mean, next every meal time, right?"
If Grace was honest with herself she was terrified of the very idea of having to stick that pointy needle into her skin every meal time. Deep down she was terrified of needles. But if it meant helping a fellow student then Grace would put her fears aside and almost happily do it ... for a friend

"Oh, not near that often dear. About, once a month. The day before the full moon is usually the best time, the blood flows thicker and clots faster so you don't bleed as much afterwards."

"That's great!" Grace dragged her fingers over the spot where her arm had been bleeding. ''Then it'll definitely be no problem!" Grace looked up from her arm and smiled broadly from Alana to the professor.

Grace watched Alana walk out of the infirmary as though she had done it everyday of her life. After Alana had left Grace picked up her shoes and the point of her dress and smiled at the professor. "Yes," she said, "thank you professor," and she ran back to the Great Hall and the Ball...
