Carrie had positioned herself in front of the fire, letting its warmth slowly conduct throughout her body. She saw out of the corner of her eye, someone taking the seat right next to her. Smiling, she turned slightly and shyly said, 'Hey, I'm Carrie.'

"oh, hi.....i m jinesh....chaser on the team and i guess ur beater right?"jinesh wondered how he could make friends with many people he would start talking to and hoped he would become friends with carrie. he waved at her and positioned himself in front of the fire.

Keaira walked down from the girls' dorm, careful to keep her footfalls silent. Making her way over to the fire, she slid into a free armchair and curled herself against it, tucking her knees against her chest and opening a gloddy black book. The title was occasionally visible, the silver words darting about restlessly: "Core Magic for Beginners and Intermediates."
She peered over the top once or twice, looking back and forth between the two strangers before turning back to her text.

'Yeh I was.. but now I'm beater.' Carrie replied, a small smile playing on her lips. She noticed the new arrival around the fire, and had a sneeking suspicion that she was listening in on the conversation - even if it wasn't intentionally. 'How about you - play any quidditch?' She kindly asked the girl bringing her into the conversation before adding. 'I'm Carrie by the way.'

Keaira smiled thinly over the top of her book. "Hello, Carrie," she said. "My name is Keaira. I don't mean to intrude on your conversation, I'm sorry. Yes, though, I do play Quidditch. I'm a Chaser."

Carrie grinned. 'We've got half the team here then! You'll have to join us on an unscheduled practice sometime! Me, Jinesh and quite a few others had a small game the other day! It was great - gives you a chance to play with the other houses away from the pressure of the quidditch cup.' She continued to smile as she turned to the book into her hand with a groan. 'Ugh. I suppose I better get on with this potions homework. Have either of you done it yet?'

Keaira laid down her book on her lap and smiled again. "I've done the requireed reading and all that already—I only have a first draft of my essay, though. I'm sure I've forgotten the name of one of the herbs I discussed, so I'll have to go over it. Otherwise, I didn't find it terribly difficult; I don't think you'll have much trouble."

Carrie felt slightly reassured by Keaira and set about writing the essay. Within moments she was soon daydreaming into the fire once again, and threw her book down when she realised.
'Damnit. I can never concentrate on work.' She said with a sigh. 'I really do wonder how I get it all done in the end.'

'Hey there.' Carrie began with a smile. 'Course we can!' She exclaimed, hoping to rid any awkwardness. 'I don't think we've been properly introduced, I'm Carrie, this is Keaira and theres Jinesh just by you.' She said with an outstretched hand.

Her embaresment vanished.

'Er, can't say much at all has been going on really!' She said with an amused sigh. 'Which explains why we are all sat round this fire feeling bored..' Carrie added with a smile. 'Hey, don't suppose you want a game of exploding snap?'

Ron ran into the common room, tripping over the portrait entrance as he did, before gathering himself up, picking up his book bag and continuing his way over to the boys staircase.
"Bloody hell, I completely forgot about our potions homework!" He said loudly to himself, not realizing the others in the room. Just before he reached the staircase, however, a small cough reached his ears and he turned around, his ears red and his eyes wide.

As Ron stumbled into the room Ella looked round and saw Ron in a hurry.
"I'd love a game" she said distractidly. She coughed and Ron looked round. "Hi there"
