(( OPEN TO ALL ))
Illyana Deitrich paused briefly with her hand on the thick wooden door. She didn't want to go in. Only frustration and anger lay ahead of her on the otherside of the door. Slowly she pushed it open revealing the multitudes of hungry people munching through their dinner.
"Students, Professors!" She called out in her domineering Russian accent. "I am Minister Deitrich," She paused and adjusted her rose. "I will be spending some time here this year. The Ministry of Enlightenment, my department, has uncovered a small calamity within the school and will be dealing with it." Illyana looked round the hall. She recognised a face at the table ahead of her. Rhiannon Jones, from the forest. Illyana would have to keep an eye on her. "Our prescence in the school may interfere with your normal activities this is regretable, but understandable. There are things that go on in this school the ministry is not happy with. Some of the students here are taking part in activites that are above and beyond their level of magical ability. This must stop! All student excursions into the forbidden forest must also stop. IT IS FORBIDDEN FOR A REASON!" Illyana's voice was raise to the level of a bellow.
"Professors, i will be observing some lessons and will be assessing you as gaurdians of school safety. "For the duration of our stay here me and my staff will act as the voice of the Ministry and must be obeyed!"

Leigh heard the words, but could care less about the meaning. He had no love for the ministry, and those that worked for the ministry were not worth his time. With a slight turn of the corner of his lip, he looked at the woman who had entered the room. With a brief nod of acting like he was interested, Leigh decided to speak out, considering the students had suddenly gone quiet.
'No one here does what the Ministry says or wants,' Leigh spoke out, speaking the truth. 'Nor do we care what the Ministry wants. We do things the way we want to, regardless of any regulations or guidelines you may pretend to pass down on those who actually have to work for a living. Some like yourself have it easy, sitting on a big caboose all day pretending to care and pretending be better than those who actually do something with the rise of great and talented wizards and witches in training. This may seem harsh, but it's the truth and everyone knows it.'

"However much you try to justify your own inadequacies by opposing the facts i have just presented." Illyana did not have time for those who were willing to waste hers and at the moment this was what dear Professor Addis was doing. "If you truely feel its is only you teachers who effect the lives of this young people then I think you are beyond all hope. I will be keeping a keen eye on you throughout the duration my stay here, Professor Addis."
"Is there anyone else here who wishes to challenge me or tell me how little I care? As I explain to you that one of the students here at this school was murdered I would like all the students to think of how much the staff must care. For you see the staff here at Hogwarts care so much about each and every one of you that they will allow students to be murdered within the school property, within your library. Think about that next time Professor Addis here tries to tell you or I that he cares about you."
"Now, is there anyone else who would like to speak? Any questions perhaps?" Illyana turned her attention directly to the students. "I won't bite... I promise." She smiled, sickly sweet.

Post by Gabriel Vandesar on Nov 2, 2006 21:18:59 GMT
Gabriel Vandesar had been stood a little to the right of Illyana Deitrich, still and quiet with his hands joined behind his back. He had watched the inhabitants of the room carefully as the Minister of Enlightenment had spoken eloquently, her sharp accent catching the attention of every ear. His eyes had snapped coldly upon Professor Addis as he had retaliated to Illyana's superb speech. His hands came from behind his back, clenching at his sides. He was darkly pleased when his superior dismissed his opinions swiftly.
Vandesar had expected the Minister to receive some resistance, predictably from the remaining professors of Hogwarts. He turned his head and looked at Illyana address the students. She would strain out the filth soon enough. 'Wonderful, minister,' he said admiringly.
He looked swiftly back toward the several tables, narrowing his eyes suspiciously, searching for anyone who resembled a problem. The students were all wided eyed, full of bewilderment and curiosity.
Vandesar as a rule did not warm to children. He found them somewhat incomplete and imperfect, as if they were only shadows of people that were not yet worthy of anything. He had had no trouble in removing the body of the DeBoer girl. He had barely been thinking about it as he had taken her body to Hogsmede where it was being kept. He had only been thinking of the wonderful plans ahead.

"I am seriously in love with this woman," Fin said to himself. After hearing the Minister verbally assasinate Addis's retaliation, he decided that he liked her.
Fin stood. "Madam, as Ravenclaw Prefect let me just say, that Professor Addis does not speak for everyone in this room. And furthermore, you have my full support, and should you need help with anything, anything at all, please do not hesitate to ask. It would be my pleasure to serve you Ms. Deitrich."

Leigh's eyes narrowed at the old witch, feeling the sting of her words directed at him. He stood, rising to his feet and locking eyes onto those of the Ministry scoundrals that dare step foot into the school.
'You show you care only when something terrible happens, but in times of happiness and peace, you do not dare! You do not come here on visit's when everyone is happy, when nothing bad at all happens. Just like the muggle governments, it takes a death to invoke action from the stupid, godforsaken institution that governs the magical community to act! It does and your appearance here justifies that! You're going to change the very way that the school runs and the freedom that the students have here by locking them behind doors on weekends and after lessons are done for the day! That's the way the Ministry works, that's the way that any government body works.' Leigh replied, speaking as rationally as he could.
'I don't expect everyone here to like me, but as a Professor I feel it is my duty to take care of the students and this is one of those times. The Ministry has no ability to help run the school, as proven years ago during the Potter Era. As for the students themselves, I can't make up their minds but I can make them understand one thing about life after Hogwarts, the Ministry will screw you over every chance it gets.' Leigh's eyes exploded widely, revealing a slight release on the control of his animalistic animagus form, where his eyes turned into narrow slits and became a golden hew, a tigers eyes.
Leigh then looked down at the Ravenclaw student, and with a laugh Leigh continued, 'This Prefect is a known troublemaker in this school. Many reports have been issued on his behaviour, but most of the time he is smart enough to keep out of other's business, this is not one those times as it seems.'
Returning his attention back to the witch, he decided to draw to the final conclusion. 'The Ministry fears us, that's why you're hear. The ministry has always feared us, especially since Albus Dumbledore was Headmaster. We have produced finer wizards every year and you lot realise that you cannot convince them to take a job with the Ministry because of the confines and regulations. Wizards and Witches, as humans, deserve to be free and free they are here, until you Ministry lot came here and ruined the peace.'
'There's a muggle saying, whatever it is you want you can take it and go shove it up your arse, because I doubt none of us, the students or the Professor's want a bunch of ignorant, egotistical pile's of dragon dung heap around us!' Leigh said, finalising everything he had ever wanted to say to a Ministry official.
Leigh didn't change his expression, but he felt no pride if what he had said. He knew his words were harsh, speaking the truth and his own personal thoughts always were. He knew that no one liked the truth and what he just spoke, was the truth.

(( Go Leigh, you tell them! =D ))
'Insolent educator!' Vandesar hissed in a whisper as his fingers snapped around the handle of his wand. The professor's words were fingernails on black boards to the Unspeakable, and he wished dearly that Illyana would be angered enough to let him abandon their rules of order, if for a moment. He had taken only one step forward, restrained as if he were on an invisible lead.
Vandesar looked at Illyana with what he hoped was civil outrage rather than murderous fury. 'Please, Minister - he should not be so bold. He's threatening compliance...' he muttered, gesturing with his eyes to the students, who had indeed begun to stir. 'He should be removed upon causing such disruption!'

Boggleworth glared around at the bewildered students he would have jumped up straight away to defend the teachers but the sight of Vandesar had kept him down. Standing up tall and proud Boggleworth said in a loud voice that carried throughout the room "Minister's I beg your forgiveness for the words I am about to speak, as I know for a certainty you shall not like them one bit, I feel that Professor Addis at least speaks for all Hufflepuffs, if not the rest of the school too. The Ministry as I know from my own experiences, as Addis so rightly points out, seeks out the danger and terrible acts, but not to help, more to highten the misery, that man," Boggleworth pointed at Vandesar with a smirk "is a fiend and any words that are uttered from his mouth are pure poison, do not take heed to what they say, they seek to undermine the true authority here at Hogwarts, the authority that has kept us safe for many many years, do we all suddenly doubt that? Because I believe this is one of the safest places on this terrible earth. And now that man wants to supplant one of our Teacher's! Take him from us! Well I for one shall have none of it, and now they shall of course see me as spanner in the works, and all those who oppose them, but I tell you we must, they seek to gain complete and full control of Hogwarts, where would our freedom be then," Throughout his speech Boggleworth had kept a wary eye on the two ministers in particular Vandesar and had tried to keep as far away from them as possible, he held himself ready to flee if the worst should happen, which he surmised it most probably would. But he hoped his speech would rouse his fellows to some action, but only time would tell...

Girty looked from professor to student. She took a swig of her drink when Bog start ranting off. She understood what everyone was getting at but many had their own reasons for hating the Ministry, Girty did not. She started to much on a sausage as Bog continued to point and shout at the Ministry. As he finished he seemed to want some sort of response from the students.
Girty slowly clapped her hands and stood up next to Bog. "Could you perhaps, if it is not bold of me to ask...but tell us what some of these activities are?" Girty looked from one Minster to another and when her eyes fell on the male one something clicked in her mind.
She quickly sat down and took another sip of her drink. she had hit that man over the head with her school bag which had the head of a statue in it. That may have been the type of activities they were on about.

Fin stared daggers at Addis. After recovering from his momentary hatred, he returned to looking at the Minister. "Madam, let me assure you, I am no trouble-maker. If I was, I'm sure I wouldn't be a prefect today." A complete lie. In fact, Fin had recently started working on a new...project. But his fib was not evident now. He kept the same smug, confident face he always had as he spoke, never hinting towards his plots. "The...Professor...seems to think that innocently questioning his constant point-taking, from a specific house mind you, is a bad thing to do." Now this wasn't exactly true, but at least it sounded good. After hearing his old friend Boggsy's little speach, Fin continued. "Boggsy, I think removing Addis from the room right now would be perfect idea. He's causing a disturbance and getting in the way of progress if I do say so myself."

Boggleworth turned to Fin with a laugh, "Do you have any experience with the ministry whatsoever my dear friend? I would presume not by the way you side with them, they aren't looking after our welfare but their own. I'm sorry to say this but if you want their idea of progress then you are a fool, and if you want to remove Addis then would you also not want to remove me too? Do you know what their idea of removal is? Send them as far away as possible usually Azkahban whether they are innocent as a babe or as guilty as the devil," Boggleworth knew he was throwing in his lot with Addis which may not have been a particulary good idea as both of them seemed to be digging very large holes for themselves but both equally seemed to be set against the Ministry, Boggleworth wondered quite what the Professor's reasons were, but he contented himself with having plenty of his own. "Just try and get rid of us," taunted Boggleworth knowing he was pushing the limits, but Vandesar would soon come after him anyway, maybe he could use Vandesar's hatred to his advantage...

"Well..." Fin didn't know what to say. He had sided with the minister, but he didn't want to mess up a friendship. He sat down, without saying anything.

Following the rapid fire English was hard for Illyana, by the time she was certain of what had been said those opposing her far outweighed her support.
"SLILENCE!" Illyana roared.
"I will not put up with any of your drivel. Any of you. Mr Addis you are walking a very fine line between keeping your job and losing your freedom. I make no apologies for polices that Mr Boggleworth has kindly introduced to us all. Yes, for anyone who is caught commiting a crime on the school grounds Azkaban is an option. It is not the only option but do not think I am making this threat lightly:
"Anyone who underminds my authority or breaks my rules will be punished."
"Any member of staff that is unhappy with my policies and rules is welcome to refer their complaints to the Minister for Magic. Other than that I'd kindly ask you all to DO AS YOU ARE TOLD."
"Hogwarts is no longer a safehouse for enemies of the Minstry!"
Illyana screached her last words madly. Her white hair whipped around her face as a wind rose from no-where. Overhead a flash of lightning shone out from the enchanted ceiling followed shortly by a deafening boom of thunder.

Michael was stood on the other side of Minister Deitrich watching things unfold in silence. His expression was of a sustained sourness that seemed to be all he could manage recently. The news of the Ministry's plans seemed to not be going down too well and a small light of hope fired up inside him, though he made a point to glare menacingly at anyone who argued.
Professor Addis was putting himself in an increasingly dangerous position with his protests, and Michael walked silently around the student tables to finally stand close behind him. He leaned forwards towards the teacher and muttered quickly through his teeth. 'Not now.' Though he would be sure to tell the Minister later that it had been some witty threat.
"Hogwarts is no longer a safehouse for enemies of the Minstry!"
The shriek went through him like fingernails scraping down a chalkboard, not that he would let this show of course. Stepping back into the shadows his eyes darted around the hall, silently watching, silently picking out those he could trust.

"There's got to be one safehouse," muttered Boggleworth with a puzzled look creasing his brow, he felt he had to try and smooth things over just a little though, "did we imply hogwarts was a safehouse? That was not my intent," he lied blatently "this stupid struggle for power should never have been brought to the full attention of pupils, you're crazy just asking for us to rise against rules, that's what we do, we're young in-experienced witches and wizards who want to test authority, but trust me your threats, though they are full of venom and aren't empty shall not deter us, the more you seek to fight against us the more we will rebel, trust me on that." Boggleworth spoke calmly and with an aura of confidence and wisdom, or so he hoped.
