Lesson II Creatures Covered: Kneazles
That morning a large set of owls had been sent from the Owlery Tower to all of the teachers of the school to inform them that the "forthcoming lesson inspections are due to start today". Rhiannon had rolled her eyes when she had read the news, she was certain that she would be one of the first teachers to be inspected and certain that the Minister would be purposely looking for faults.
She had decided to put the news aside however, and just carry out the lesson as normal. Rhian thought her first lesson had gone pretty well, other than the whole students wandering off into the forest and meeting centuars part, but afterall that had been technically after the lesson - or at least that is what she would be telling the Minister if she was unfortunate enough for it to crop up.
It was nearing the start of the lesson, and Rhiannon waited patiently near the edge of the forest for the students to arrive.

Thom breathed in the crisp February air as he strolled happily down to his Care of Magical Creatures lesson. He had all but forgot about the events of last time, and the fresh wildflowers dotting along the edges of the castle walls for protection from the Highland winds were a pleasant sight after the long white months of winter.
The few trees of the forest that weren't in the pine family were smothered in pink and white blossoms, and the gentle crisp breeze that flowed between the tree trunks disheveled them, fluttering down to the ground around where Professor Jones stood. 'Good morning, professor,' Thom smiled brightly.

Zachary was not in the mood for the lesson. Bad things always seemed to happen in the forest, and with the class taking place right on the edge, horrible things were bound to happen.
Just like last time.
Scowling deeply, he trudged down the moist lawns, swatting away the small insects that buzzed around his ears. The last traces of winter were fading away as an array of pale blossoms took their place, clinging cheerfully onto the branches of newly-green trees.
It all made him disgusted, to say the least. Making a face, he stomped directly onto one of the flowers perched happily on the grass, and let his fingers pull off a few of the tree blossoms as he stepped into the edge of the forest.
"Morning Professor." He said politely, beforec catching sight of Moen. He groaned, and seated himself on the opposite end of the clearing.

Illyana waited, hidden out of sight in the forest. Watching a nervous looking Professor Jones. Illyana had long ago decided to observe Rhia first. Here behaivour in the forest when they first met was awful. Illyana had put her name down top of this list for possible troublemakers. Since then of course Professor Addis had been bumped up to the head of the list after his disgraceful behaivour in the great hall.
After having dealt with Mr Boggleworth Illyana knew that no one at Hogwarts would pose to great a threat to her. Disgustingly Illyana smiled a bitter smile that only she would appreciate.

Upon the sight of Zachary Daniels appearing from across the lawn, Thom's jolly smile disappeared and was replaced by and disgruntled pout. What was it with this boy being in every one of Thom's lessons? The Hufflepuff had long ago come to the conclusion that for all the snide little remarks and murderous acts Zachary bestowed upon him - it was plain as day the scrawny little Slytherin had some sort of obsession with Thom.
First making sure that Professor Jones was not looking, Thom screwed up his face and stuck his tongue out as far as it would go at Zachary, wiggling it around to add to the immaturity of it all. Of course, his expression fell upon realising a rather intimidating looking ministry official was stood before them all. 'Merlin...' Thom muttered, quickly shuffling out of sight, thoroughly embarrassed.

Girty wondered down the gravel paths from the castle. She pulled her robes tighter around her. It was freezing compared to the warmth of the common room, the warmth of her bed. As she continued to walk now leaving the gravel path behind and not to the dew covered grass, her nose began to run. Looking desperately for a tissue Girty eventually found one. “I hate colds” she mumbled to herself as she entered the clearing where the rest of the class was standing.
“Morning professor” Girty gave a small wave and a sniff of the nose and looked around for anyone she knew. She then saw Thom, who seemed to be hiding. With a small laugh she walked over toward him and stood next to him. “Having fun?”

'Oh...' Thom leaned away from Girty a little as she approached, the redness of her nose indicating a rather violent cold. 'I'm alright yeah... you look a bit stuffed up though.' he said warily, nodding his head at hers.
He looked about him for a moment, placing his hands in his pockets to protect them from the seemingly cold sun. 'You should pop in to see Dumbledorable,' he advised.

Girty looked up at Thom and smiled before pulling out a tissue and giving her nose a good blow. "No i will be OK. It is only a cold." She turned and looked toward the professor then looked back at Thom. "Do you know what we are doing today?"
With that a cold wind blew and sent a shiver down her spin. Girty tightened her scarf and pulled her robes even tighter around her.

'I'm not sure,' he admitted. 'Jonesy never is very clearly about things, is she?' he laughed under his breath. He made brief eye contact with Girty, directing her attention toward the Minister of Enlightment with his gaze.
While Boggleworth and the like seemed to have their minds totally made up about the woman - Thom was not so sure. He was wondering what Girty's reaction would be.

Girty noticed that Thom as trying to point something out with his eyes. She looked intently and followed his gaze to see it lead to the minster. Girty tilted her head sideways almost hoping it would give a better prospective.
After a while of studying the minster Girty looked back at Thom and smiled. This could make the lesson rather fun she thought.

Boggleworth randomly chose a lesson to go to at the beginning of the day, and fate had chosen unluckily for him as it turned out- Rhiannon Jones' lesson. He walked in his usual late style and having no apology ready he he was about to make up something on the spot when he noticed the Minister herself. A momentary shiver spread through his body then he pulled himself together and un-hurriedly took a seat, he wanted to stand up and be firm to Deitrich but for now he had to bide his time and attack when the time was right. First he needed to gather his allies around himself. Smiling around pleasantly his mind was elsewhere as he pondered on his problem of the Ministry.

Zachary scowled at Thom as the boy stuck out his tongue, wiggling it mockingly. He had no idea why the Hufflepuff seemed to turn up at every corner, having spent more time with the boy than he would have liked. Though, after a moments contemplation, he finally decided that Thom was jealous of his own intellect and good-looks, his envy bordering on the edge of obsession.
Smirking inwardly at this revelation, he narrowed his eyes at Thom, but noticed quite surprised, that the boy had turned abruptly away. It was then his gaze strayed over to the Minister and his eyes widened as he noticed she was right behind him.
"Just my luck," he grumbled to himself, snatching another flower from the ground and tearing it with a scowl.

Attendance: H +30 and S +10 Rhiannon gave a small laugh as she saw the approaching figure of Deitrich from afar. 'Far too predictable.' She thought to herself with a satisfied smirk. Chosing to completely ignore the woman as she got into better range, Rhiannon leant against the nearest tree and peered around at the students who had arrived.
'Most people here then?' She glanced around and gave a nod. 'Cool.'
'Right, today we are getting a bit fluffier than last lesson.' She smiled in memory of some of the expressions she had received in her reptile lesson. 'Can anyone tell me anything about kneazles?' She could see Deitrich standing behind Zachary out of the corner of her eye, but continued to not acknowledge her.

Thom's expression immediately became ice cold at the mention of kneazles. There were many animals that Thom did not like in the world - mostly insects or anything that threatened to poison him, but one thing he could not abide by at all were cats. He remembered last term in Professor Moncrieff's bizarre rainbow club an unpleasant Ravenclaw girl had bought her loathsome little cats. It had ended badly.
'They're like cats but worse. They can judge how trustworthy someone is.' He said gruffly, his voice full of obvious distaste. His mother owned one due to being overly paranoid of a particular neighbour. It was constantly hissing at Thom.

Grace had arrived just in time, but panting heavily, to hear the professor start the lesson with a question. She stood behind Girty so she could look over her shoulder and see everyone. Grace frowned and whispered, "a what?" Luckily Thom was there. Care of Magical Creatures seemed to be his forte, which was odd because he was the potions apprentice. She shrugged and thought again, with the information Thom had just provided, about kneazles.
Grace did remember reading something in her mothers copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them so she added, "o yes! They are extremely intelligent and perceptive creatures. If they detect that you're untrustworthy, it'll be very nasty but if they take a liking to you, they make excellent pets."
