Loren elbowed her way passed a rough looking warlock who smelt strongly of firewhiskey. The Three Broomstick was usually busy, but today was a Sunday, and as usual the common crowd of middle aged witches and wizards were in their various corners, spending their wages of galleons on strong drinks. The warlock squared up his shoulders gruffly as Loren ordered a Dark Art - a particularly powerful ale that he clearly did not think Loren could manage.
Carrying it to the table furthest away from the loudest crowd, Loren sat herself down and leaned back. She hoped Andie would arrive soon.

Andie wove through the crowd looking for Loren, finally seeing her in a corner she made her way over. "Hey Loren." She sat down and ordered a Butterbeer. While she waited for her drink to arrive she turned to Loren. "Hey, wanna hear my new song?" she asked, an expression of hope flickering breifly across her face.

Loren was about to take the first sip of her daring drink when someone arrived at her table. 'Ah, thought you'd be here soon, Andie.' She smiled at the girl as she sat down. 'New Song? I'd love to hear it!'
Loren looked about, frowning slightly as three simultaneous roars of laughter came from the same table. 'Quiet down!' She snapped. If they carried on she wouldn't be able to hear a word Andie said. At that moment a moody looking barmaid walked over to the table, setting down Andie's butterbeer.

"Thanks." Andie replied. She turned her emerald green eyes to the three rude people and fixed them with a glacier- cold glare. They quickly shut up. Then picking up her guitar, she began to sing...
Grew up in a small town And when the rain would fall down I'd just stare out my window
Dreamin' of a could be And if I'd end up happy I would pray Tryin not reach out But when I tried to speak out Felt like no one could hear me
Wanted to belong here But something felt so wrong here So I'd pray I could breakaway
I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky Make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakway
Wanna feel the warm breeze Sleep under a plam tree Feel the rush of the ocean Get on board a fast train Travel on a jet plane Far away And breakaway
I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky Take a risk, take a chance, make a change And breakaway
Building with a hundred floors Swingin with revolving doors Maybe I don't know where they'll take Me but Gotta keep movin on movin on Fly away And breakway I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly Though it's not easy to tell you goodbye Gotta take a risk, take a chance, make a change And breakway Out of the darkness and into the sun I won't forget the place I've come from, I gotta Take a risk, take a chance, make a change And breakaway Breakaway Breakaway
Andie finished the song and looked up and waited nervously for Loren's reaction.
((I think I forgot a verse but oh well...))

Loren paused for a moment, considering, before breaking into a slow clap, an impressed grinned slowly spreading across her face. She shook her head in amazement. 'I'm stunned, Andie - really. That was a really impressive piece. Did you seriously write that yourself?' Loren was still smiling as she took a sip of her drink, wincing slightly as she forgot how strong it was.

Andie blushed. "Yeah, I did. It's my first one actually." She took a sip of her Butterbeer and smiled contentedly as the sweet drink warmed her throat. "Ahhh..."

Zachary had been lounging in a corner of The Three Broomsticks, a steaming mug in his hand. The chilly weather outside had caused him to be in an irate mood, and he narrowed his eyes as a few foul-smelling witches shrieked with laughter, bubbly liquid spilling over the rims of their mugs.
"Oh shut-up, you wretched ha--" A clear voice cut through his statement, followed by what was obviously a Muggle instrument. Narrowing his eyes, he looked over at a table where a vaguely familiar Ravenclaw was drawing attention to herself.
When she was finished, Zachary walked on over, his mood dark and his butterbeer long forgotten. "Stunning? I think I preferred those screeching hags over there." He scowled, ignoring the indignant glares of the witches.

Loren huffed disapprovingly under her breath. Typical Slytherin, she thought with a roll of her eyes. Jumping right in without a single thought of the consequences.
She reached over and placed her hand on Andie's, patting it reassuringly. 'I thought it was lovely, Andie.' She looked at the Slytherin with a stern glance. 'What is one persons hate could be another's love...' She said sagely, although her voice was drowned out by more laughter. Frowning briefly, Loren tossed her hair over her shoulder sharply. 'Who are you exactly?'

Andie glared coldly up at the Slytherin. "His name is Zachary Daniels!" she hissed through clenched teeth. Then stood up. "You know, I've had it with you! You're always carrying on about how I can't sing. So why don't you wow us with your perfect voice? Unless of course you're too scared?" She raised one eyebrow challengingly.

Just as he rolled his eyes, his mouth opening to make another snide remark, Zachary felt a sharp push at his side. A woman muttered briefly about rude children blocking the way to other tables, and he noticed the Pub owner give him a reprimanding, warning gaze.
Scowling, he pulled out one of the chairs at the girls' table and sat down on it huffily, leaving the path behind him clear. "I'm surprised you don't know," he said, his posture straightening, "I'm--"
Andie's shrill voice cut thorugh his once again, though this time it hadn't even tried to sound pleasant. Sending her a shocked glance, he stared at her for a long moment before a slow laugh escaped his lips.
When it finally dissolved into a small grin, he leaned in toward her. "I have dignity, Riley, something you seem to lack."

Loren's eyes shifted from Andie to Zachary, and from Zachary to Andie again. She wondered if she was missing some important factor - such as an old rivalry. Was it personal, or just the usual inter House tiff? Leaning back, Loren raised her eyebrow at the two. Andie was glaring daggers at the boy but he seemed to be simply deflecting them with his own snide grin and the cheekiest remarks imaginable.
'Now, now, you two...' She said slowly, noticing that the barman was getting more and more threatening with each look. 'I don't think it'd be wise to start a duel in here of all places.'

Andie's already pale face turned even paler. Her eyes dark with rage. Without another word, she drew back her hand and slapped the Slytherin across the face. "You shut the hell up!" she hissed breathing heavily through her nose her teeth clenched tightly. "You know nothing of dignity!" She know leaned forward to whipser in his ear, "And if you ever hurt my friends in any way, shape, or form I will personally make your life a living hell! Do I make myself clear?" She hissed threateningly.

Her hand, he decided, was as charming as her singing, and he let out a loud yelp as it swung for his right cheek, surely leaving a bright red stain.
His expression darkened with rage, and he stood up from the table at once, ignoring the snickers from the witches beside him who obviously thought the slap was well-deserved. "Harm your friends, Riley?" He sneered, his cheek buzzing with a sharp sting. "I think you do a nice job of that yourself whenever you expose them to that awful voice of yours."
The Three Broomsticks, cheery and pleasant just five minutes ago and bustling with noise, had seemed to quiet down as the Slytherin pulled out his wand. People at far tables craned their necks to get a better view.... The barman's eyes grew wide as he began to advance on the students.
"Furnunculus!"
Nothing seemed to happen for a long moment, where Zachary held his breath. Then, just as whispers erupted from the crowd, there was a small hiss followed by other sickly noises and a small boil appeared just on the tip of Andrea's chin . The Slytherin's eyes sparkled with mirth as more of them popped up along her jaw, before covering her entire face.

'Oooooh yuck!' Loren said, unable to control herself. She stood up from her seat, chair falling back, and reached out to Andie trying to pretend it was her and not Loren who needed the support. Loren had once been hit by the gruesome furnunculus curse. She remembered it to be an exceptionally traumatic experience as it was performed upon her when she was just a first year, too young to know the counter curse. The scarring on her skin had taken years to heal. 'You're - you're vile!' Loren screeched at Zachary, who was standing with his hands on his hips, his eyes full of smug pride at such a well executed spell.
The final boil swelled just over Andie's right eye, and Loren put a hand over her mouth, feeling thoroughly sick. 'Come on, Andie, lets get you to the hospital wing...' She said in a sympathetic tone, beginning to help her friend up.

The Three Broomsticks being his usual retreat these past few days, Boggleworth hadn't expected anything untoward to happen. He had sat silently, taking the odd swig, of his now thoroughly cold butterbeer, he was tiried and drawn, and it showed, yawning somewhat loudly and graciously thanking Rosmerta for the drink, he stood up slowly stretching his arms into the air. Wonderin what to do and musing over his current problems he was about to leave and ask politely for someone to move out of his way when there was a raucous behind him, turning sharply he saw the drama unfold and shook his head slowly. Forgetting for a moment that he wasn't Head Boy anymore he bellowed "Zachary Daniels " Seeing one Ravenclaw help the other victim he strode over to Zachary and tapped him sharply on the shoulder. "Despicable my friend, pick on someone your own age next time, oh wait that'd be under 3, you're so immature it's unbelieveable, why don't you apologise and try to reveerse some of the damage you've caused?" Grated Boggleworth smirking at Zachary in a patronising manner.
