Erin folded her arms accross her chest and looked at the ground. "Well maybe I'd rather just help." she said softly. She leaned forward and picked up a rather strange looking bone and began walking again.

Thom glowered at him. 'It's also as thick as dried mud and stinks to high Merlin.' he stressed. 'You've got a lot to learn, my young apprentice...' Thom said sagely just before tripping over a rip cage and landing flat on his face, arms and legs spread out at his sides.

"Help?" Zachary inquired, as if he'd never even heard the word before. "Why would you want to do that?" He made a face, watching her walk away, before turning to Thom, vaguely wishing there was Mooncalf dung where he had fallen.
"What is paint, anyway?" He asked dryly.

Erin stopped and walked back to the two boys. She glared at Zachary before holding out a hand to help Thom up. "Because sometimes its what you have to do nimwit." Erin froze and her eyes turned sad. She sighed and let the bone drop to the forest floor.

Thom groaned loudly as his face turned up from the ground, covered in a perfect layer of mud. 'Hopefully this'll be good for my skin,' he said, taking Erin's hand without even thinking that it might be a trick. 'And paint is...' he paused. 'It's this muggle stuff... all wet and a little thick. It's used to make bedrooms different colours.' he shrugged his shoulders, having never really thought of the stupidity of it all.
Waving his wand briefly, the mud disappeared, and he bent down and picked up the bone Erin had dropped. 'You'll never be here again,' he said. 'Just take it.'

Erin looked at Thom and gave a faint smile. "thanks" she muttered before grabbing the bone and turning back around. She hit Zachary on her way to Helia, a poisoness glare in her eyes now.

She smiled at Erin, "Pretty much. Any loose branches, any unusual looking hairs or horns or... claws," she said brightly as she walked over to a tree where a black claw stood wedged in a tree trunk. She reached into her bag and pulled out a pair of dragon-hide gloves, putting them on before beginning to wiggle the claw out of the bark of the tree. She gave the girl a side-long glance, "If you ever have some spare time on your hands and want something to do come by my shop, it's a little hole in the wall in hogsmeade. Might have something fun for you to do," she said cheerily. It was then that the claw let loose and Helia fell backwards with a thud. She stood up and laughed, "Well, what shall we do now then, or are you two still finding illegal contraban to get yourselves thrown in jail with?"

"Different colors." Zachary repeated, the expression on his face one of obvious dislike. "Muggles and their stupid inventions." He mumbled, before looking at the bone.
"People should learn how to get on themselves, without being dependent -- Ow!" He glared at Erin as she passed him, before looking at Thom accusingly. "She should be hitting you, not me." He said venomously.
Turning to Helia, he smirked. "Illegal? We're only talking about paint."

'No she shouldn't. I'm too hot.' Thom said, running a smooth hand through his hair, one eye brow raised with a smile.
'There's nothing wrong with a bit of free trade, Helia.' Thom said defensively. 'People like me are not confined by the bounds of society, where age limits, equality and pointless morality infect the mind like an overly powerful Imperius curse...' he said dramatically, staring up at the moon with a hand raised towards it. 'You may be able to gossip with unicorns, but I'm rich, freckles.' he grinned greedily, bringing down his hand and rubbing his palms together.

She laughed bitterly, "You were practically shouting about your bit of underage illegal black market trading in hogshead, you mentioned getting Unicorns blood and now you're trying to figure out a way to swindle incoherent drunkards into believing that moon calf dung, or whatever that muggle 'paint' stuff is Unicorns blood. Now, just be glad I'm not going to turn you straight into the Head Master but do understand, you both owe me big time," she smiled wickedly, then turned to Erin, "Quite a punch you've got there. You an only child?" she asked remembering how good her own uppercut had gotten after practicing near-continuously on her brother when they were kids.

Thom grinned and hunched down a little as he started to dart in and out of the piles or skeletons and fallen tree trunks. 'I owe nothing! I'm a free spirit! I'll go on the run if I have to!' he laughed as he continued to run from them into the large clearing, quite a few metres away now. He realised he had tossed his wand into the leaves some time ago, and found himself suddenly imersed in darkness.
'I'm not beyond accepting a little help though, chaps.' he said as he stopped running. 'Could someone lend me a light?' he asked a little weakly, praying that no twigs would snap near by, indicating certain doom.

Zachary rolled his eyes at Thom, shaking his head slightly. "I don't think Hufflepuffs are allowed to be hot. A bunch of prudes they are." He looked at Erin for a moment, before turning to Helia and smiling innocently.
"You have to admit, a drunken wizard wouldn't know the difference between Mooncalf dung and Unicorn Blood no matter how bad it smell--- Wait a minute." His smile faded and he was staring at Helia in disbelief. "You can... speak to Unicorns..."
Thom's outburst caught his attention, and still bitter about being hit, Zachary looked at Erin with a sneer. "Why don't you ask Erin? She's usually so willing to help." Then he moved away, snatching a bone from the ground with a grimace.

She rolled her eyes at Thom, "Call it, einstein." She'd tried to be cordial about her wand knowledge, but now she was nowhere near above belittling the boys. She carefully placed the claw in her bag and continued to pace a bit, wondering what other curious things she might find around here. She looked at Zach and smirked, "Oh, I'm sure you'd like to know, wouldn't you?" she asked airily. She wasn't about to say for sure whether or not she did anything of the sort. She still wasn't sure if he had the temper or patience to listne to what she had to say about it, and once a wand maker got talking about their tricks it was difficult to stop them without having your vocal cords magically tied in knots.

Thom put his hands on his hips a little too womanly. 'For your information, Helia - nothing I own actually likes me. That whole mess down at the lake would have never have happened if my wand hadn't decided to do a bit of mutiny and join that flock of twigs. I think my broom was thrilled to be smashed to pieces - it never did as I wanted anyway, and my lethifold-turned-fish won't look at me when I'm in the room.' Thom groaned mardily, trudging back towards the group dishearteningly.
'And muggle paint is just fine, thank you. It's worked before.' he joined Zachary and leaned closer. 'The trick is, if your merchandise is faulty, make sure you only present it to someone who's off his head.' he said behind his hand.

"Ever think that the reason none of your stuff likes you is because you don't treat it well?" she asked, still rather ignoring Thom's actions. "Even if it doesn't have a brain, anything with magic in it understands when it's being highly regarded, or treated like a stupid tool. Magic tends to have a better idea of what to do with itself than witches and wizards do and when you try to manipulate it to your own will of course it's going to rebel. Now then, simply acknowledge that your wand is an important magical device and tell it to come to you. Courtesy is not important, but respect is. Try it," she said, finally turning and staring at Thom.
