The dark air surrounded Liam as he trudged down to the lake, his eyes darting around him for signs of movement. His wand was held out in front of him, emitting a bright light as he paused in his steps and stared out at the lake for a moment.
His eyes then rose to the sky and he squinted at the crescent moon, chewing his lip. "Alright..." He said softly, looking beside him.
A blast-ended skrewt stared back at him... if blast-ended skrewts could stare. He wasn't quite sure where it began and where it ended, but he grimaced and looked away sharply, before pulling out the left over food he had gathered.
"I'm not letting you die of hunger before my plan's carried out." He said softly, leaving a roll on the ground next to the blast-ended skrewt and scrunching up his nose in disgust. "I'm not quite done with you yet."
He tugged his cloak tighter around him, running a hand through his hair, before emptying the sac onto the ground. An array of food fell out in front of the blast-ended skrewt, which was steadily growing to deadly five feet. Suddenly, a burst of sparks crackled from it, and it shot a few inches to the left. Liam gagged, moving quickly to avoid it's stinger, and summoned a stick.
He poked the blast-ended skrewt warily, swallowing as it looked back at him. It seemed to have grown an inch since he last saw it, and he hoped it would live for a little while longer. "Come on, you want the treacle fudge, don't you? Or maybe the rock cakes?" He said with a sigh, getting on his knees and rummaging through the bag, all the while keeping one eye on the creature.
