"As you can see," the professor began, gesturing toward the flailing Zerrubabel, "magical soil has that extra spark of life that enables magical plant life to photosynthesize its own magical properties and potential."
"Magical soil is usually indistinguishable from regular soil, except when agitated, as Zerrubabel has so graciously volunteered to demonstrate." The professor watched as the student continued to fling clumps of living soil onto the greenhouse walls.
"At the bottom of this trough is Hippogriff manure contaminated with some muggle industrial waste. Such waste often agitates magical soil and leads to so-called "natural disasters" such as earthquakes. The earth essentially goes berserk and retaliates against humans, causing a negative marginal social cost."

With a flick of her wand, Prof. l'Keitha lifted the soil off of Zerrubabel and brought it back into the trough, leaving streaks on his pirate-gear.
