It was late on Saturday and Freya, to her annoyance, had missed dinner. Walking into the entrance hall, broomstick in hand, she realised with a loud stomach grumble that she was starving. She had only planned on going flying for half an hour or so, but you know how time goes.. seconds turn into minutes, and minutes into hours - and here she was, only about three hours late for the meal.
She gave a disgruntled sigh, and rubbed her stomach slightly in hunger - she needed to get food. That was when she remembered something her older brother Jimmy had told her... her lips curved into a smirk. The Kitchens. She had been told the way just before she came to Hogwarts - though after numerous close shaves in her second year that were too close for comfort, Freya had abandoned using the Kitchens and had almost forgot about them over the years.
She took the door to the right of the main staircase in the entrance hall, and walked slowly down the corridor as she let her memory lead the way. After five minutes or so of walking down it she came to what she was looking for - a painting of a bowl of fruit. With a triumphant smirk she tickled the pear in the painting and it transformed into a door handle with a delighted giggle.
Freya glanced all around her before pushing down on the handle and opening the door. She had expected just to see all the large gleaming eyes of the house elves, but they were not alone. 'Oh!' She said in surprise, before shaking her head at herself for naively presuming that she was the only student who knew about the kitchens entrance...

Dax looked up from his chocolate cake and saw a surprised looking girl staring at him. He too was a bit took back and started to lose his balance on the stall. He flapped his arms around in the air trying to remain straight. After a few seconds he manged to regain balance and he reached for a drink. After a sip he remembered what shocked him in the first place. Quickly he placed the drink back on the table and stood up.
"Oh erm.. hello. Would...Would you like some cake." He pointed to the chocolate cake which had a couple of huge slices out of it. He turned back to the girl and gave a weak smile.

Freya gave a small laugh as the guy flapped his arms about in loss of balance. I don't think I've got anything to worry about. She thought to herself with a smirk, initially thinking she might have run in on a prefect on one of their prowling rounds.
At the offer of cake, Freya's eye lit up. 'Yeah, some cake would be great.' She said to the older Hufflepuff with a smile, before heading over to the table that held the plate. Cutting herself a large slice, she leant her back against the nearby wall and smiled. 'I'm Freya.' The Raveclaw added before taking a bite of the chocolate slice. She chewed it a few times before giving an approving thumbs up - Freya had always loved the school food and she reckoned even the most complaining of people would have a hard job slandering the Hogwart's kitchens.

Dax manged to give the girl a small smile as she took a slice of cake. "O erm.. hello Freya I'm Dax...Dax Simmons. " He rubbed the back of his head and took a deep breath trying to relax. He knew he was not going to get into trouble and this Ravenclaw seemed nice.
"So what brings you down to the kitchens then?" He glanced at his watch and smiled. "A bit early for super?" Dax gave a small laugh and looked up at the girl.

Freya swallowed another mouthful of cake and a smirk crossed her lips. 'Dinner is what brings me down here.' She began, placing her plate of cake momentarily at the side. 'I missed it to catch up on a bit of flying.' The Ravenclaw continued, nodding her head towards the broomstick she had discarded at the kitchens door. 'I've been stuck without any practice in the summer, and well, I needed the break.' It was true on both counts, Freya was determined to keep her chasing position on the team and being cooped up in a castle all the time wasn't ideal. 'What about you?'

Dax looked over at the broom and then back at Freya. He nodded his head in agreement as she spoke about being stuck in the castle. "Me?" He questioned. "I just had a fancy for some Chocolate cake. I was not happy when they did not have any on the tale at dinner." He laughed and took another huge bite out of his slice.
After a moment of silence Dax looked up at Freya and was about to talk when he could not think of anything else to say. He quickly closed it again only for him to remember. “So you play Quidditch then. Are you any good?” Dax moved backwards and jumped back onto the stool he had previously been sitting on.

Freya gave a laugh as Dax mentioned the lack of chocolate cake at dinner. 'Yeah, I know the feeling.' She said with a smirk, before picking up her plate again. 'As for quidditch, I enjoy it that's for sure-' She started with a small smile as she tucked the strands of hair falling into her eyes behind her ear. 'But whether I'm any good... I guess you'll have to see me in action in the next match.' Something which she couldn't wait for.
'How do you know about getting into the kitchens by the way?' The Ravenclaw wondered if it was the usual thing to pass such useful information onto siblings, or whether this Hufflepuff had somehow managed to find the entrance on their own. Though why someone would randomly decide to tickle a painting of a pear, she had no idea.

Dax smiled at the girls question and leaned back on the stool. "Now that would be telling." He stated rather seriously. "One does not give away tricks of the trade so easily." He raised his eyebrows at the girl and jumped off the stool.
"Can i get you a drink? Tea, pumpkin juice or even some of the teachers secret supply of wine." As he turned around to look at her he studied her face wondering what type of Ravenclaw this was. In his experience there were two types; the proud ones and the ones who were actually friendly. He hoped it was the latter.

Freya mouth twitched into a smirk as Dax gave exactly the sort of answer she would have given if roles had been reversed. 'Well, how about this one-' She started, maintaining her smirk as she jumped onto one of the kitchen tables and sat on it hugging her knees. 'Do you know any other secret places?' She leant forward in interest though was ready to get the same sort of unrevealing answer. 'And a pumpkin juice would be great thanks.' Freya noticed the Hufflepuff watch her for a moment or two as if to try and figure her out - the only problem was, this Ravenclaw wasn't so easy to solve.

Dax smiled as she jumped onto the table. He turned around and looked for some pumpkin juice stepping over the odd house elf and making sure he did not knock over the stacks of washing up. He made his way back to the table pondering about the question Freya asked. As he put the jug and two cups down on the table he took a huge breath.
“Do you know about the secret tunnel, that leads into a very dusty room through the tapestry down the 5th floor corridor?” He broke off and started to pour out the drinks. “Only a few know about it, nothing special really but can be very useful if you need to hide from someone.” He shot Freya a small smile and handed her one of the drinks.

Freya accepted the drink with a smile, and let her legs dangle over the sides of the kitchen table as she took a quick sip. 'A very dusty room on the 5th floor eh?' Hiding places were always very useful to know about, and with Hogwarts you never knew when you might need one. 'Well I know about it now anyway.' The Ravenclaw said with a smile putting the glass of juice to her mouth again, and taking a mental note of the room's location.
'Do you often need a hiding place then?' She asked Dax interestedly. It was now her turn to wonder what sort of person she was dealing with. 'I mean, you're not one of the notorious trouble makers of Hogwarts are you?' Freya watched him with a smirk.

“Me?” he blurted out “A trouble maker!” He started to laugh and looked down at his drink. “If I was a trouble maker do you think I would be sitting in the kitchen eating chocolate cake previously by myself but at least you have provided me with some company.” Dax's laughter had stoped, he gave Freya a weak smile again and sat down on the chair.
“When I was in my lower years I needed somewhere to hide from all the 5th year Slytherin’s. Prime target number 1. A Hufflepuff, obsessed with my work and no friends. All the signs point to one of the biggest losers in Hogwarts.” He let our a low laugh and looked around the room. “Why so many questions? Are you trying to make out my character? If so how have I portrayed myself?”

'Well you are sneaking down to the kitchens late in the evening.' Freya pointed out, smirking. 'What else was I to think??' She said with a laugh, choosing not to point out that she had initially worried she had stumbled across a prefect. She placed her pumpkin juice on the table and hugged her knees once more.
Freya gave a small frown as Dax mentioned the Slytherins when in his lower years, but soon found her more characteristic smirk once again. 'Pfft... "no friends"... I find that very hard to believe.' She told him with a very unconvinced look. 'And I have no idea what you are talking about...' The Ravenclaw added with a smile, referring to his comment. 'Me? Questions? Making out your character?' She put on the most innocent look she could muster. 'Never.' Then gaining a small grin- 'Besides, you've got nothing to worry about... you're portraying yourself very nicely.'

Dax looked at Freya and looked up at her with a smile. "Thanks." He croaked and took another swig from his drink. He then looked back at Freya and could not help but smile.
"So then if your a chaser how is your reaction speed?" Dax looked around and saw a pineapple further up the table. He jumped up and ran toward it. As he ran past his right hand scooped it up, he jumped around in the air and threw the pineapple int he direction of the Ravenclaw. He watched the fruit fly int he air and did not look where he was landing and his left foot ended up in a bowl of cold custard.

Freya replaced her glass of pumpkin juice on the table, and leant backwards with her hands supporting her weight. It was only then that she cottoned on to what Dax had said. 'My reaction speed??' She repeated with a raised eyebrow. Before she knew it a pineapple of all things came flying right towards her face and she only managed in the nick of time to catch it in her fingertips. Slightly breathless in her surprise, she turned to the Hufflepuff and gave a laugh. 'Bloody hell!' She exclaimed. 'I'll have to remember to keep my wits about when around you in the future.' She added.
Freya noticed that Dax had a somewhat disgruntled expression, on his face and peering down to his feet she gave out a loud laugh as she saw it covered in a some particularly lumpy looking custard. 'Deserves you right.' A satisfied smirk appeared on her lips.
