Nikkos, Well, I'm here. I made it to Hogwarts alive, yet again. My classes seem... interesting. I've got astronomy, history of magic and potions for sure, but I've yet to pick my elective classes, and don't suggest quidditch! You know I despise it. Jsut because you were captain during your years doesn't mean I want to be during mine, alright? I would ask how Yelena is, but I rather don't care. Just thought I'd write to let you know I got here in one piece, no need to respond, Mozess
She read over the letter yet again, checking for any misspelled words or grammatical errors before she rolled up the piece of paper and tied an emerald ribbon around it. She gazed out the owlery window, not quite ready to send the letter yet. She wasn't sure if she wanted to let her brother know how she was doing. Would he even care if he didn't hear from her? 'Probably not...' she muttered aloud, an un-characteristic note of sorrow in her voice.

"Probably not what?" Jac asked. She had just attached Hilary her birthday present to Hywel, her short-eared owl's leg. It was a small box and it was light so Hywel wouldn't struggle. Jac scratched behind Hywel's ear and whispered where he had to go. Hywel spread his wide wings and flew out the window.
Jac turned to Mozess, "probably not what?" she repeated. She was quite interested by the girls silence. Jac's hair turned ginger as she smiled at the slytherin.

She turned to see the Gryffindor girl she'd met in Honeydukes. She coughed uneasily, 'I was... wondering if my brother would forget my brithday. "Probably not."' She smirked, and shrugged, trying to make herself pretend that that's really what happened so her eyes would stop being the depressing shade of blue she knew they were at the moment. She shook her head, 'My brother's great with remembering birthdays...' she shrugged and let out small laugh, Just buy it, just buy it, she pleaded mentally.

Jac smiled and nodded. Her hair looked black but as she walked towards the slytherin girl dark blue and silver streaks could be seen shining it the light. She stopped right in front of Mozess and her emerald green eyes stared into the slytherins searchingly. She was a very perceptive person so she could see in the girl eyes that she was not being completely truthful. ... but that's the way she wants to play it, that's fine with me.
A smile twitched on the corner of Jac's mouth. She stepped back and ran her fingers through her long hair, looking at the floor. "Your birthday, huh?" she asked, pretending she had not seen the doubt and desperation in the girls eyes.

'Yeah, yeah. It's some months away, but sometimes he loses track of time while I'm here at Hogwarts. With his wife and everything keeping him sidetracked...' her eyes went from a despairing blue to a dark one. She did not like Yelena in the slightest. She didn't care who knew that, 'She's a bit of a witch, even for being a witch,' she shrugged. She and Yelena were like oil and water. No matter how much you did, or how long you worked at them, they just never mixed. Like matching magnets repel each other, so Mozess and Yelena would fight. Of course, Yelena would always twist the tale of events so she came out a saint and Mozess was the evil villain, but someday her brother would realize the truth, and then he'd be sorry.
She blinked quickly a few times, trying to keep the tears stinging the back of her eyes silently hidden. She took a deep breath, 'I suppose all in-laws feel some sort of gudge against each other, hm?' she smiled, a bit more convincingly this time, though her eyes had once again reverted to a depressed, stormy grey-blue hue.

Jac watched the slytherin with immense interest. Trying not to seem too interested, she walked to a barn owl that was perched nearby. She stroked it gently and it tooted in satisfaction. She could not help but smile. "No ..." she said dreamily, "no, I don't suppose they do."

Her eyes rolled and she shook her head, Gryffindors always have to see the bright side of things, she could only imagine what kind of an "everyone should take care of everyone" pep talk was going to come after she asked her next question, but being curious about the Gryffindors views she couldn't help herself; 'How do you mean, "You don't suppose they do"? Do you have any in-laws to worry about?'

Jac giggled and dropped her head, kicking a small stone. "Almost," she said smiling, "my brother's just proposed to his long time girl friend! She alright, I guess, but ..." she shrugged and looked up at the girl, "I don't know, there's just something about her I don't like. You?"

'After my parents died my brother decided that I needed a positive female role-model to help keep me straight, so he married his girlfriend Yelena and all she ever does is give me chores to do and tell me to stay out of her way; that she's the lady of the house now and if I have a problem with it I'm more than welcome to leave.' She may have been exagerrating slightly, but not much for sure. She shrugged, 'Maybe you'll have a better luck of the draw as far as in-laws go though.'

Jac nodded frantically. "Yeah!" she said, "at least they a) travel lots and b) they live in Wales." She smiled and looked at the girl. "Shame about the 'evil step mother'!" Jac said deeply, "you could always run away. Come stay with me or something?"

She snickered, 'I may very well do that sometime. Anything is better than dealing with Yelena,' she lilted the name so it sounded long and dreary, while making a face that looked something like if a monkey got run over by a sixteen wheeler, then laughed. 'Well anyways, this is quite dreary standing around in a smelly old, giant bird house,' she scrunched up her nose for emphasis, 'I think I may go down to the lake for a bit, want to come?'

Jac tilted her head and looked at the girl. "Mmm," Jac said in agreement. She bunched up her freckled nose and sneezed. Rubbing her nose, she said, "sounds good to me! I'll follow you!" She smiled at the slytherin, wondering what was going on in her head, then sneezed again. "Technically allergic to barn owls," she explained.
