Mort was in the room of Requirement setting up the instruments on the stage. He had a piano with a microphone in the corner, his drum set in the other corner, and a bass and guitar in the middle, the latter also with a microphone. He set up his drum set the way he wanted and tuned the guitars.
He didn't know what to do about pianos so he left that alone. He plugged in the amps, and was just finishing meddling with his drum set when he looked at the stage. "It'll do." He thought. He hoped that the band idea was still a go and he planned on teaching Girty bass if need be. He sighed an awaited the others.

Grace burst through the door; she was so late. But when she looked around the room, only Mort was there. She smiled and sighed in relief. "Oh, thank goodness," she said, and closed the door. "I thought I was late." She walked up to the stage and nodded, "nicely done!" She walked to the piano and sat down in front of it. She move the stool a little left, then a little right, "perfect!" She played a few scales then looked up at Mort. "Oh, hi, by the way," she smiled.

"Hi" he laughed. He didnt know how she ignored him this long. "So you really wanna do this band thing?" Mort asked nervously.

Grace smiled and nodded, but she would not tell him what else she thought, anything to keep me from thinking about ... don't! She played a little scale and sang "la'' with. "You been her long?" she asked.

Grace had planned on but the holidays had gotten away from her. "Not really," she said, listening to Mort play, "just thought we would like find a 'direction' that we're ganna go in and -- a name! We still don't have a name!"

"I have been sitting on a few names. How do you feel about these? Broken Pride? Bad Reputation? Apathy? or maybe The Magics?" Mort asked. He didnt feel they were good but he felt like putting them out there.

Grace ran each of the name through her head. "Broken Pride?" she repeated, "I like it, we must just find out from the others what they think. But, yeah, it's great." She smiled at Mort, a new smile, a lopsided, charming smile. But she quickly batted her eyelids and looked away.

Mort smiled too and laughed. "I favor Broken Pride too. I have some new material. Wanna here?" Mort asked shyly, smiling at Grace like a big loser.

Glad Mort had not seen, Grace nodded eagerly and said, "yes, please!" And put her legs on either side of her chair and crossing them, balancing on the stool.

"Ok Well this is for Guitar so I will play that part first then switch to drums." Mort grabbed the guitar and began to play his song 'Beginning of the End'. He played and played and played some more until is was finally over. he set the guitar down and wiped the sweat off his brow." What do you think?"

Grace clapped frantically and grinned broadly, "bravo! Bravo! I love it!" She giggled, then tried to play a bit on the piano. She stumbled in the beginning but soon got it. "Like that?" she asked.

Grace found she enjoyed the drums. There was an extra vitality and energy that the drums, and the drummer, brought to the music. When he had finished, Grace once again clapped furiously, "whoo-hoo!" she giggled with a playful smile on her face.
