The morning dawned upon the grounds of Hogwarts and the surrounding area. When it did, the new Home Economics professor did too. The twenty-nine-year old was always early to awake from her bed and start the day as soon as she could, no matter whether or not it was the weekend or one of the give weekdays. She was just an all-around morning person no matter what, and she always encouraged others to wake early and get a jumpstart on the new day. She believed that an earlier start would help the train of thought as well as activities that one might do throughout the day, provided they had a good night of sleep. That was just her outlook on things. She knew that everyone was different and had their own opinion on things, and she understood that one-hundred percent, but that never stopped her from trying.
After finally getting the sleepiness from her eyes and having her fair share of yawns and heavy sighs, she threw the covers back from her bed and turned so that her legs were hanging off. She sat there for a second, wiping her eyes once again as she let out another light yawn. She then allowed her feet to touch the cold surface of the floor and walked across the room to her dresser drawers where she had placed all of her clothes neatly in previous days. Everything was organized, and she was pleased with it. She had worked quickly with the unpacking of her things and the situation of her room as soon as she had been accepted, and her hard work had paid off. It was recognizable too. The room looked amazing.
As Isabel started to dig through her drawers, she looked for something to wear. Most of her clothes were those that would be worn in warm weather. She had not exactly thought about the area of Hogwarts being rainy and wet all the time, though that was how it always was. She was going to have to get used to it now that she was a resident to the place. Shaking her head, she closed her drawers and went over to her closet where she had her sweaters and jackets hanging near her robes. Her pants were in there as well. She grabbed a random outfit, which did not happen to really match, and tossed it onto her bed as she undressed herself and then redressed in the clothing that she had chosen. She turned and looked in the mirror and sighed.
She was now wearing a light blue sweater with a turtle neck along with a pair of brownish colored dress slacks. She had not been paying attention to what she had picked out, and she honestly did not care. Maybe she would start a new trend there at Hogwarts—mismatched clothes. She smiled at the thought as she pulled some socks onto her feet and put on a pair of black shoes. She pulled a brush through her hair, though it did not really help to make it tame. She was not sure what she was about to do or where she was going, but she knew one thing: She was going to get some coffee before she did anything. Walking from her room, she closed the door behind her and locked it, being sure that no one else would be able to get in. She then strutted off, no where in particular in mind.
She hummed lightly, a random melody that had come to her head. Her hums were sweet-sounding, not to mention girly. She did not see anyone as she walked down the corridors, remembering the times that she had walked down there since she had arrived. She recalled where the staff room was as well as the classroom that she would soon be teaching in. However, that was about it. She just came across the other rooms when she came across them. Thinking to herself, she wondered if she should head down to the dungeons. The kitchens were there, and that was where coffee would be, more than likely. However, she did not want to ask the house elves to be her laborers. So, she made her way to the staff lounge to get some coffee as well as relax. Who knew? Maybe another professor was awake at that time of the early morning. She figured that it was worth a go.
So, she walked towards the staircase that lead to the lounge and then looked at the doors. There were two stone gargoyles, which she looked at, somewhat scared of them. She walked into the room after turning the knob slowly, entering the empty staff room with mismatched furniture as well as a small table for refreshments and such. She smiled as she had entered the room, which was very warm. She could smell coffee already brewing in the corner, which made her wonder if Hogwarts could read her mind. Shaking her head to answer herself no, she approached the table and lifted the pot in her hand and poured herself a cup of coffee. She allowed the smell of it to fill her nose as she lifted the cup in her hands, sipping it lightly. It was completely black with nothing in it, which was just the way that she liked it. She loved plain and original coffee, for the sugar and cream took out the taste, which was the best part of it all.
She turned, her mass of waves hitting her face lightly. She turned her head one way and then the other, examining the interior of the room. She had to admit that it was somewhat poorly decorated, but that was her opinion. She knew that Muggles, or Muggleborns were more experienced in things like décor and writing than the wizardry folk were since they had prior schooling. Also, they usually lived as Muggles on breaks anyway, which made it easier. Isabel herself was Muggleborn, not to mention the Home Economics teacher there, so she would know all about things like that.
She shrugged the thought of criticizing the furniture in the room off of her head and then walked over to one of the chairs and took a seat, slowly placing her cup on one of the tables beside her. She had to admit that the furniture was really comfortable, and she was going to enjoy her stay there in the staff lounge. She looked around the room once more and then smiled to herself, carefully kicking her shoes from her feet and into the floor at her feet, right beside the chair. Both of the shoes were lying on their sides, facing in opposite directions as she lifted her feet into the chair, crossing her legs Indian style. She was relaxed, of course, which was how she thought all professors and students should be in their place of residence, work, or educational studies.
Once again, she allowed her dark eyes to scan the area of the room, lifting her cup to her lips once again before taking a sup. She could not believe that she was actually on the inside of Hogwarts—as a professor! It was like a dream come true. She smiled once again, congratulating herself on having gotten a job at one of the most famous schools in the wizardry world. She gulped the hot coffee down her throat and then sat the cup down again, bouncing in the seat somewhat since she happened to be somewhat bored as well as hyper. She knew that she should have brought something with her to occupy herself. However, it was only a matter of time before she found something to do.
“Hogwarts, Hogwarts, hoggy, warty Hogwarts, teach us something please…” She sang, her sweet voice was light and girlish. She had no idea why she was singing the school anthem, considering the fact that she only knew the first line. She only knew that because she had heard it in passing a few students that were singing it, and she had caught on. “Hogwarts, Hogwarts, hoggy, warty Hogwarts, teach us something please…” She continued to repeat the same line over and over again. For some reason, it had not even become the least bit annoying or boring. It was occupying her, which was all that she wanted. However, she would soon become bored as well as extremely hyper with nothing at all to do. (1,408 words)
