There had been a time where Girty had felt that she would be with Alex forever, the way she felt for him could not have been beaten and she was convinced she could not feel that way about anyone else. But the problem was because she never told him how she truly felt because of her stupid pride forever was now over. It had in fact been over for some time and Girty was only just coming to terms with it, sadly it had taken the help from a certain Slytherin to help her comes to terms with it and that was something she was never proud to admit. It did help that she had such amazing friends and it was one of these amazing friends she was planning on meeting today.
In her hand she held a very crumpled bit of parchment that had been folded and unfolded and read over and over again. She was not sure why but this small note that had been sent to her at breakfast that very morning made her smile so much, it made her feel…well special. And it was with this stupid smile plastered upon her face that the Hufflepuff sat on a bench outside in the courtyard, her heart beating a little bit too fast and her stomach tying itself into a million knots.
Why was she feeling like this when she was only meeting up with Max???

Earlier that morning the Gryffindor had been sat twiddling his thumbs, unable to think of anything to do with his day. Of course his Headboy status kept him pretty busy, of course it did. Him and Ellie made quite the spectacular team if he didnt say so himself. He'd spent most of the morning with his cousin when he'd decided to send a note to Girty before breakfast. It wasnt anything spectacular, just a normal, random run of the mill note;
GirtyShirty! Meet me outside on the courtyard tonight after dinner. I haven't really seen you that much this week so I was thinking we could hang out or something. Max xx
Of course, he'd had some work to do before he could go and meet her, and for some reason he hadnt wanted to wear his robes so he'd gone back to the dorms first to get changed. He wore his white jacket and dark jeans. Nothing too fancy but comfortable none the less. He made his way slowly back through the corridors and out of the large doors leading to the courtyard. The breeze was blowing gently ruffling his blond hair as he made his way over to the bench and sat down beside the brunette girl.
"You got my note then?" He asked, sliding his hand into hers. It was a usual thing between them. Their friendship was rather close so Max often held her hand, gave her a hug or gently kissed her cheek. It was something he'd always done and probably would always do. After their little night of well... nightness, it could have changed, made things awkward but Max wouldnt allow that. He loved his friend, so there wasnt any way Max would allow their friendship to fail.

That night of…nightness, it was something that always somehow managed to work its way back into Girty’s subconscious and she would find herself often daydreaming about the moment when they tussled in the bed and Max showed her the meaning of a good time. And a good time was something they certainly did have and the smug smile that had been present on Girty’s face the day after was testament to that! But of course that was something that the two of them simply did not talk about now, nobody else knew and that was how it was going to stay. Not that Girty was ashamed for having spent the night with Max…it was just…well they were friends and that was it, they could be nothing more…
But why did that bother Girty so much?
She did not want anything from Max, why would she…that was a stupid thought…okay, she needed to get her mind back on track and focus on what was going on. What was going on? Oh right, Max has her hand in his…her heart gave a sudden jolt at the thought of this and for the briefest of moments Miss Hubbles had no idea what to do. Her back stiffened and her grip loosened around Max’s hand as if she was touching a hot iron. This was not right…something was not right here. Swallowing hard trying to get rid of the lump that was appearing in her throat the Hufflepuff tried to relax and grin over at friend.
Yes friend…that’s what he was…friend.
“Yeah...” Her voice cracked ever so slightly as she nervously stuffed the small note into her jacket pocket. “er…thanks.” Why was this so hard making conversation with Max, it was not right it was as if…if…she fancied him or something. HA! Girty found herself snorting out loud as this fact which clearly must have looked odd to Max. Panicking slightly Girty knew she needed to think of a cover story and fast.
“Sorry, I was just thinking about what Dan would look like in a dress.”
Oh lord…maybe it would have been best to stay in silence. Maybe if she stays still enough for long enough she would become invisible…or stop breathing and pass out to avoid having to make any more contact with the Gryffindor. Yeah, the second option seemed the best one.

It was like an unspoken agreement between Max and Girty that they never ever speak of that night. Their friendship hadnt failed because of it, in fact in a lot of ways they were stronger friends than before. Max found himself looking out more for her than he used to do in the past. He'd always had a soft spot for Girty, hell she'd been the one who set him on the path of straightness. After he'd kissed her, well lets just say it was like waking up from blindness. Or something along those lines anyway.
Max wasnt ashamed of what passed between the two of them, and he'd quite happily do it again if the situation ever presented itself. Girty was his best friend, true enough he never told her that but part of him thought she knew it well enough. Sitting next to her, when she wasnt speaking, he had nothing to do but watch her reaction to him. He saw her stiffen and felt her hand loosen around his. His brows furrowed over his smoky blue eyes, was something wrong? Though he didnt let her hand go, he kept hold of it firmly. When she grinned at him, his answering smile was sort of strained.
Was he missing something here?
"You're welcome.." He trailed. They hadnt really spoken since the night they had a tumble. Maybe Max was misreading things, maybe things had changed between them and their friendship had suffered. Max jumped when she snorted, he may be blonde and a Gryffindor but he had good senses. He knew something was wrong, he just didnt know what it was and it made him nervous. However, before he could bring the subject up she spoke again.
“Sorry, I was just thinking about what Dan would look like in a dress.”
Max had to laugh at this aswell, the image of the Headmaster in a dress was hilarious. He saw pigtails and a light pink frilly dress. The blonde stopped laughing and stood up, pulling the brunette up with him. Being as tall as he was he had to look down, but a smile was clear on his face. In those few seconds he'd decided he was going to let nothing spoil what they had.
"Lets go out to the lake... I hear it looks amazing when the stars shine on it."
