The days seemed to grow shorter and shorter as the winter passed on. Even though it wasn't even holiday break yet, Ellie couldn't help but feel like the year was dragging on. Classes, Head Girl duties, homework, and just stuff seemed to pile on her schedule. Ellie would have greatly welcomed anything interesting happening, anything at all. She would even accept a life threatening situation at this point, but she had no such luck.
A book was open on her lap as she sat on a bench outside. It was a mild day and her layers were sufficiently to keep her decently warm. Even her jacket was unbuttoned showing her purple sweatshirt which matched her purple scarf which wrapped around her neck. She was topped off with a black pom-pom hat which Ellie loved because she could feel the pom-pom bounce as she walked. Her fingerless gloves weren't doing anything as she starred off into space, the wind blowing the pages of the open book.
Ellie felt the sharp tug of one of the pages on her finger and small sting. "Ouch." She said, bringing herself back to earth. She had been completely spacing out, shutting her brain down for a couple minutes. She looked at her left hand pointer finger. A little cut and a little blood was visible. She immediately put it in her mouth and sucked on it. Not a nice way to come to reality.
"I need some stimulation." Ellie said slamming the book closed. She place her hands on the cover and tapped it, looking around to see if anyone she knew was in the vicinity. The sun was high in the sky and was casting a glare on the snow just feet away in the lawn. Somewhere in the distance she could hear a snowball fight or some ruckus, but she didn't have the mind to get up and wander to find it. "Anything, anyone." Ellie murmured realizing how sad her lonely existence had been. She tapped the book anxiously as the wind blew her hair into her face.
