Achooo![/i]hit the ground and popped open, looking around for something to attack. The first thing it spotted was Ellie sprawled on the ground. Now Ellie was able to get out the words, "Oh No." before scrambling to her feet.
Ellie sneezed the dust she had breathed in out of her nose. The library was never her favorite place. It was dusty, smelled old, and not many interesting thing happend in here. After a long day of running around doing Head Girl duties, planning the next Quidditch practice, and classes, Ellie would have enjoyed nothing more then a quiet sanctuary. However, she always felt that the quiet atmosphere of the library was rather eerie, unnatural. There should always be some from of background noise and the flipping of pages and the rustling of the disturbed dust just didn't go it for her.
Even though it was still fall, Ellie's seventh year had already become strenuous. Ellie, who was usually good at being resourceful outside of using books, found herself searching the shelves for any signs of Goober the Gorged and his reign of power of Gringotts in 1234 A.D. So far, the Hufflepuff had found information of Goober's dog, Buffin, who apparently had set the record for most goblins eaten in one battle, and his estranged wife, Hortuga, who had run off with a young troll three days after their wedding. Ellie had not even glimpsed at a sentence with the words "Goober" and Gringotts" together. She was becoming rather distraught and her patience was wearing thin.
Ellie turned down the next aisle of book. She looked down the long line of dirty and dark book covers and sighed. She walked down the aisle, skimming the titles. "5th century Botubers... Leprachauns Have Hearts Too... Newts, Grindylows, and Porcupines..." Ellie read the titles out loud. Nothing useful. She turned the next corner. She had come to a dead end. Ellie stood at the dead end looking up to the highest shelf. It was just out of her reach, but she saw some gold lettering that she thought might read "Goober and.." Ellie was sure the next word started with a G, perhaps Gringotts?
The Hufflepuff stood on her tippy toes, but couldn't reach the book. She put her foot on the first shelf feeling if it would hold her weight. It seemed sturdy enough, and she climbed on. Ellie would need to go up one more shelf before her fingers clamped around the book she had spotted. With a triumphant smile on her face, the second shelf she had stepped up to gave a warning crack. Apparently it wasn't as sturdy as the first. Without a second to think oh no, Ellie heard another crack and the shelf broke, sending her flying to the ground with book tumbling down on top of her.
If that wasn't a bad enough situation, a rouge book, The Monster Book of Monsters
If anyone knew Ellie, they would know there was one thing the seemingly perfect Hufflepuff could not handle. It was animals and animal like creatures. This book apparently was close enough to either. It liked Ellie just as much as the next Magical Creature would, and that was enough to not completely dismantle Ellie's body after it killed her. Ellie backed herself into a corner, holding up the large book she had gotten after all the trouble. "Listen you," She said to the monster book as it prepared to jump her. "I will protect myself, and that would not turn out very good for you." Ellie said, trying to sound tough to the book. The Monster book snapped and Ellie jumped, her rouse failing.
