Potions was actually an enjoyable class, despite what older students had often told the young chillun. Professor Vaid was rather…eccentric, but he was overall a good teacher. Felicity wasn’t exactly a potions natural, but she considered herself to be quite gifted with it. Which basically meant, she could usually make a correct potion without any explosions. Most of the time anyway, when she wasn’t paired with idiots. Like today.
Today’s potion was amortentia, the love potion. Felicity had been paired with a Gryffindor boy whose name was currently escaping her. Vaid had said it, but of course Felicity hadn’t really paid that much attention. She just got out of her seat and sat next to the lad, who seemed quite flustered by the whole ordeal. Again, Fay didn’t pay much attention to him, she was in Ravenclaw mode. That is to say, she was blocking out everyone else while she listened to Professor Vaid speak about how to make the potion correctly.
She scooted her seat closer to her partner—and the cauldron they would be using. Felicity leaned forward and inspected the potions book. “Alright…so you can add the first few ingredients while I work on chopping up these…Ashwinder eggs? Ew.” Her partner didn’t respond right away, so Fay looked up at him expectantly. He looked…well…kind of weird actually. Like the kind of look a person gets when they’re planning something. Felicity waved her hand in front of his face, and he seemed to snap out of his daze. “Were you listening at all?” Silence and blank stare. “I didn’t think so. Just start putting the first ingredients in.”
Of all the people to be stuck with, she was with this idiot. Grumbling to herself as she cut up the eggs, Felicity failed to notice Professor Vaid had walked over to their table. That is, until he cleared his throat. Fay looked up at him and blinked, rather confused why he had suddenly come over. “Do you need something Professor?”
“Actually yes, Miss Locke. I seem to be short on some supplies, would you mind running over to the supply closet to get me some? I would go myself, but I’m rather frightened to see what would happen if I left.” “Uh…sure Professor. What do you need?” “Everything on this list. Don’t worry about your potion, you can make it up later.” “Alright. I’ll just be off then.”
Fay grabbed the list from Vaid’s outstretched hand and grabbed her wand from the table. This was a rather odd thing to happen during class, but oh well. She shrugged mentally to herself as she walked out of the room. At least she knew her way around the dungeons. Prefect duties at least left her with a good sense of direction now. Perhaps that was why Vaid trusted her with this assignment.
“I really don’t understand why they made the supply closet so far from the actual classroom.” She muttered irritably as she set off in the direction of the closet. Potions was the last class of the day, so the dungeons had little light filtering into them. All the other students were in classes, and Fay found it eerily quiet as she walked down the hall. Until she started to hear footsteps echo. Ones that weren’t her own. She spun around, stopped in her tracks as she tried to listen. The person was running…toward her to.
Clouds must have passed over the sun, because for a moment of time the dungeons became dark. Something bumped into her, and she spun around and shoved her wand into the person’s face. The sun shone again, and she noticed it was Harri that she had bumped into. Felicity lowered her wand sheepishly and took a step away from him. “Blimey Harri, you nearly scared me to death! What are you doing running around the halls? Aren’t you supposed to be making a love potion?”

Potion’s was always a bit of fun, the classroom may have been dark and dingy down in the dungeons but the lessons themselves were always lively and entertaining. Of course this year the lessons had a little bit more to interest the Gryffindor considering that they were sharing with Ravenclaw which meant that he would be in the same lesson as Fay. It was not a surprise then that already his potions had been turning out wrong and he would have to ask Professor Vaid to repeat what he was asking him as his gaze and mind was else where.
Today however he had decided was going to be the lesson that he fought to be partners with Fay. Blake had heard about the plan and his best mate was more then willing (in fact a little too pushy) at getting Harri over to sit by his crush and when the duo strut into the classroom and they spied they would be making love potion Blake gave Harri a sharp elbow in the side. But when it came to making the first move the Gryffindor turned out to have a heart of a mouse rather then a lion and sat down next to Blake and faced the inevitable that sitting next to Fay would simply cause more pain then it would do good.
So alas the two best mates got on with making their potion, Harri giving Fay the occasional smile as he watched her struggle to communicate with a bewildered Gryffindor. Then what happened next seemed to pass in a blur. Vaid went to talk to Fay, Fay got up and left the room leaving Harri looking longingly at the closed door. The heart of a mouse had now been replaced by that of a lion!
“Professor!” Harri shot up off his stool and ran over to Vaid. "Professor can I be excused to go to the little boys room please?” “You should have gone during the break Greg!” “ “I did sir I just have a weak bladder.”
Vaid did not seem convinced and so it was rather begrudgingly he let Harrison leave mainly because if he was telling the truth a small puddle on the floor of his classroom was not really what he particularly wanted. Yet guessing by the speed which the boy ran out of the classroom the Professor guessed that maybe he did really need to pee, it never even crossed his mind that instead of turning left for the bathroom Harri was running right towards the store cupboard to where Fay would be heading.
So although he knew the direction she should have been going in the darkness that had suddenly filled the underground corridor sent a shiver down the Gryffindors back and it was only the want of seeing that smile upon Fay’s face that made Harri run head on into the blackness. And then he hit something, something warm, something that smelt like…
“Fay!” He gave a startled shout as he was suddenly blinded by the light from her wand that she was now shoving in his face. Shielding his eyes with his hand he squinted though the brightness trying to make out the fair features of the Ravenclaw. pffft and he swore to never let her Veela powers get to him
“Ah, well Blake and I mastered the making of love potion in our second year.” He grinned happily over at Fay as she finally lowered her wand. “How else do you think we have managed to get so many girls to go out with us, it is not for our looks are personality that is for sure?”
He was being careful to avoid any in depth questions about why he was actually not in class because having to explain to Fay that he was skipping lesson so that he could spend sometime with her would be a difficult one. “Why are you out of class?” He knew the answer and he was pretty sure that Fay knew that he knew the answer…but it was his way of moving the conversation, for once, away from him!

The dungeons always made Felicity a little jumpy. Ever since that one year with that crazy vampire kid…well let’s just say she made a habit of avoiding the place. Except for class of course, but at least she was in a controlled, relatively safe environment. And because she enjoyed potions, she wasn’t worried about the dungeons being creepy! See how that works? It also helps when you have a bunch of Gryffindors to distract you from the dangers on the dungeons.
Felicity would’ve happily taken Harrison as a partner over this bumble of a Gryffindor. She trusted Harri had more sense than this fellow, who continued to stare at the potion like it was some complicated math equation. Fay was debating whether or not she should just shove his head into the cauldron and claim that he fainted, or tripped. Though it’s quite difficult to trip sitting down…
Luckily, Vaid pulled her thoughts away from those devilish plans and set her on a task. Maybe he knew that she was planning on destroying her partner and decided that an angry veela was not the best thing to have in class. Smart man. So Felicity set on walking down the dungeons, grumbling under her breath about the stupid Gryffindor, and dark dungeons, and about how she hated the smell of this hallway. That’s why she just let the other prefects take it most of the time, while she stuck by her common room. It was safe over there.
Now, if the dungeons hadn’t made Fay so jumpy, she probably wouldn’t have freaked out on Harrison and nearly blinded him with her wand. But, she was, so she did. Only the sight of his shocked face and startled voice brought her back to reality and she lowered her wand sheepishly. Harri wasn’t a crazy vampire. He was the loveable Gryffindor that was ditching class. Not as bad, surely. “Sorry! The dungeons always freak me out. You shouldn’t have snuck up on me.” She accused with a pout.
His answer wasn’t really an enlightening answer, but that was Harri for you. She snorted and rolled her eyes. “Should’ve guessed.” Felicity tucked her wand back into her robes so she wouldn’t blind him or accidentally shoot him with some sort of spell if another thing spooked her. “Seems to me that you can get more than a few girls to go out with you with that charming mug and personality alone.” She said lightly, patting him on the cheek as she spoke. Honestly, the boys had possees of girls running after them nearly every day.
Felicity had hoped to make it back to class in time so she could just finish the potion without having to make it up, but with Harri here now that seemed impossible. Not that she minded, it was nice to have company in the creepy dungeons. “Vaid asked me to get some things from the store closet. Plus, I think he suspected that I was plotting to murder my partner.” She grimaced as she spoke and glared back at the door of the classroom. “How about you? I doubt Vaid gave you a “get out of potions free” card.”

If yet I have not all thy love, Dear, I shall never have it all, I cannot breath one other sigh, to move; Nor can intreat one other tear to fall.
She was killing him, maybe he should have just stayed in the classroom and enjoyed the moment when the potion was done and all he could smell would be the sweet sent of Fay’s perfume. But this was morbid thinking and not very Harrison like and so despite his mind and heart was pinning over the Ravenclaw that stood before him his cheeky grin and manor would not betray his feelings. But then despite his best acting it was not helped when Fay continued in her own perfect way to tease him with simple words and annoying the light tap on his cheek. But even though his ego wanted to take it as a positive there was one girl that he could not have, that would not have him!
But if in thy heart, since, there be or shall, New love created bee, by other men, Which have their stocks entire, and can in tears, In sighs, in oaths, and letters outbid me.
His cheek still tingled from where she had touched him, it was like an electric shock to his skin and no matter how much he knew it was bad for him he could not help but want more. Yet he was going to have to satisfy himself listening to her talk which was not really a hard task either seeing as in his mind everything she had to say normally brought a wide grin to his face. “Yeah you best not kill him.” Harrison grinned as they started to walk further into the darkness of the corridor ahead. “It would be messy and to be honest I do not think you could pull off the stripy prison clothing they have in Azkaban.” He grinned widely giving her his ‘I am only joking’ looking knowing that Fay would now he was talking with his tongue in his cheek.
“Me? I told you I am just too perfect that Vaid let me go!” Still chuckling Harri looked around the corridor and tried to get his bearings. Blake and he had a habit of venturing into the dungeons (in fact he still had to find that shoe he lost down here) and he knew a few tips to being able to see, as after all you could not expect the teachers to walk around in the dark did you? “Okay, I told Vaid that I needed to loo so that I could come and take a stroll in the dungeons with you because I was worried that you might get eaten alive by a grumble bumble.”
He thought he would be honest with Fay simply because he doubted that she would actually believe him and think that is was some story that he was creating in an attempt to sound funny. Raising an eyebrow he pulled out his wand and jogged over towards the closest wall and jumped up into the air and clung onto a brick that was protruding out. Hanging a few centimetres off the corridor floor Harri raised his wand up into the air and muttered “Incendio” and with a small flash a line of flames shot down for hundred meters along the top of the corridor. An orange flickering glow now filled the dark dungeons and with a proud little grin Harrison turned back to Fay and gave a small bow.
He that hath all can have no more, And since my love doth every day admit New growth, thou shouldst have new rewards in store; Thou canst not every day give me thy heart, If thou canst give it, then thou never gave it.
(Okay so I think this poem is by John Dunne. We studied him in English Lit and this poem for some reason stuck with me and I thought it worked for Harri...)

Felicity was completely unaware of the pain she was causing, but whether it was because of her ignorance or because of Harri’s good acting was to be left up to interpretation. If she had realized what she was doing, or even had an inkling of what he felt, she’d probably try to see him less. Not because she feared it, but because she would try to prevent herself from unintentionally hurting Harri anymore than she already has. But, she doesn’t know, so none of this has to happen yet.
So, she was completely unaware that he was ao affected by her touch, and continued to rant about her stupid potions partner. “I’ll just have to settle with making him miserably I suppose.” She sighed as she spoke, so wishing that the boy would transfer to a different class, or school even. At Harri’s comment about the Azkaban garb, Felicity puffed out her cheeks in annoyance and placed her hands on her hips. “Excuse me, I could totally make those stripes work. All those other prisoners would be jealous.” She flipped her hair after she spoke and bumped her hip against Harri.
Felicity raised her eyebrow skeptically at Harrison. “Mhm. And Vaid would just let you leave class all willy-nilly so you can frolic in the dungeons? I’m so sure Harri.” Rolling her eyes, she looked at him, waiting for the truth. She hadn’t really expected his answer, so she was a bit flustered in response. “Oh. Well…er…thanks then. That’s really sweet.” Fay muttered, grinning up at him as a light color filled her cheeks. Knight in shining armor, or rather, knight in ratty school robes. Same difference.
And so they continued to walk down the corridor toward the supply closet, though Felicity was wishing for more light besides their wands. Harri seemed to have the same notion, because he jumped up onto the wall and shot flames down the corridor to light the way. She grinned and clapped, letting out a small chuckle at his extravagant display of gallantry. “Bravo! Bravo!” Felicity walked over to him, still grinning as she clapped him lightly on the back.
Now with the way lit up, Felicity could see that there was another door further down from the supply closet. Curious, she had never seen that door before. Granted, she had never spent a lot of time down in the dungeons. “Harri, you mind if we take a little detour? I want to see where that leads to.” She pointed to the door in question as she spoke and walked further ahead, passing the supply closet. Glancing back at Harri, she waited until he matched her stride once more before she started to walk again.
The door looked as if it had never been open, what with cobwebs stuck on it and the aged look it carried. She pushed the door lightly, and it creaked in protest. Wincing at the noise, Fay pushed it open just enough so she and Harri could slip through before letting it swing shut again. The room was dully lit, and in the middle of the small room stood a mirror, about the size of the room in height. Felicity moved closer to it, but still stayed far enough to where she couldn’t see her own reflection in the mirror. “What do you suppose this is doing down here? Has to be something special if it has a room all to its self, don’t you think Harri?”

The orange glow danced on the dark stone walls, the flickering light that now filled the dungeon corridor highlighted the beauty in Fay’s eyes and her perfectly carved features…well at least in Harrison’s opinion anyway. With his back exposed due to his low dip Harrison felt the tingling sensation that always occurred after Fay touched him, the electric current that seemed to pass through Fay and straight to Harrison, it broke the poor lad’s heart that the Ravenclaw never felt anything in return. Straightening his back Harrison gave a small defeated sigh and turned around following Fay down the corridor. (Although that did have his advantages seeing as it provided a great view of her ass!)
“What?” The sound of Fay’s angelic voice awoke Harrison from his hypnotic state and his eyes darted up towards her face, a slight red tint tarnishing his own. “Oh…er…yeah sure. Always up for an adventure.” He tried to hide his hesitation with a cheesy grin and quickly strode to catch up with Fay to save her waiting around in the draftee corridor for too long. They walked along until they reached a very old looking door that seemed to have been forgotten like most things in the school. “Splendid.” Harri muttered as the creaking door quickly before it slammed loudly behind them causing dust to lightly tumble from the rafters that hung above.
The room was nothing spectacular, it was dimly lit, the walls were bare and the only furnishing was a grand mirror standing in the middle of the room. Trying to act like his normal self or at least the self Fay knew him as the Gryffindor put on a coy smile and gave a small chuckle. “Now this is my kind of room…all you need is a mirror.” Getting into a position where he could see his own reflection the boy flicked his fringe out of his eyes and looked at the charming man who was reflected back at him, although the beauty next to him actually made his piecing blue eyes to move from one reflection to another.
“I think it is just a fancy mirror.” He continued to grin as once more he focused upon himself. But then he noticed something, the Fay in the reflection had her arm around him. Confused at not feeling the tingling sensation that was so often caused he looked to his side…and no one stood there. Perplexed Harrison looked over his shoulder and saw Fay standing at a distance behind him.
“Your hearts desire.” He whispered to himself as his own heart gave a strange pang he turned back to look at the mirror and enjoyed the view for a bit longer. “I think you need to have a look in the mirror Fay.” Tearing his gaze and breaking heart away Harrison stepped to one side letting his hearts desire take centre stage in front of the mirror.
(So it took me years to post and it is crap. Sorry love )

Perhaps if she was aware to the pain she cause him, she could find a way to help. Even if it possibly meant that she might never see him again. Lucky for her, she never saw his pain. He hid it well, the perfect gentleman as always. Harrison Greg could have any girl in the school (hell, any girl in Europe), so why was it that his heart settled on the girl who was untouchable? His heart ached from her very touch, and he wasn’t even caught by her charm. She couldn’t blame this infatuation on any after affects of the ancient magic that flowed through her veins. His feelings were true, and that would be the hardest thing for her to come to terms with.
She didn’t need to cross that bridge now though. For this moment, she was content to be blissfully unaware of his feelings for her, and simply enjoyed being in his company. Felicity stayed further back, watching as Harrison moved forward to position himself in front of the mirror. She was gazing at it warily as he cracked a joke. Fay’s body was tense, as if she would spring at any moment and drag him away from the mirror, as if some demon would come out. But nothing happened; Harri seemed to simply think that it was just an oversized mirror. She wasn’t so sure. Why else would it be secluded in this room if it wasn’t something special?
Felicity stared at Harrison as he gazed at something in the mirror, and for the moment when he turned to look at her, she could see the pain in his eyes. Shocked, she looked at his reflection, and noticed the same expression. Fay moved closer, her instinct to protect him overwhelming her wariness to the object. “What do you see?” She whispered. Felicity moved to stand next to him, refusing to look into the mirror. She rested her hand gently on his arm, anxiously trying to draw his attention to her so she could wipe that pained look from his eyes.
What did the mirror show him that caused him to react like this? She glanced at it momentarily, trying to draw the answer from thin air. An image rippled into being, and Felicity let out an involuntary gasp. Fay jumped back and her hands flew up to her face, shielding her from whatever else the mirror may show. Her body was tensed up; though trembling slightly as she tried to keep her emotions reigned in. What the hell kind of mirror was this?

Well, Harrison would never have thought it but the people who sing about love in songs or wrote about it in books actually knew what the hell they were going on about. The Gryffindor had always thought that there was the unwritten rule by artists that said that all emotions of love and longing must be categorised by either/or a) the tightening/drying of the throat, b) twisting of the gut…or more eloquently put ‘butterflies of the stomach’ and finally, c) the stabbing pain in the heart. Clearly all of the later options were impossible, the twisting of the gut would hospitalise you if not kill you and the stabbing of the heart either meant someone had run a blade through you or you were having a heart attack, neither of which is a good thing. Yet despite this the mind play’s tricks and as Harrison stood in front of the mirror looking at the reflection of his luckier self, the self that had won the heart of Fay…the self that did not feel like he was going to pass out any second now.
But then, as if it was the touch of an angel saving him from his own personal hell Fay brought Harrisons attention back to the small dungeon they were standing in, the sound of his heart pounding echoed around his empty head as he turned to look at the beautiful Ravenclaw. He could feel the unnatural tug of a frown upon his face and quickly tried to redeem this by putting on his normal toothy grin and letting out a small confident laugh. “I saw myself of course.” He raised his hand and flicked his fringe out of his eyes, the eyes that although showed some life and happiness still betrayed him. Where were his sunglasses when he needed them?
“I don’t know what this mirror does but it showed me with a terribly attractive woman, total trophy wife!” Poor Harrison could not bring himself to lie to Fay face to face. She just seemed (although he knew she was not) so pure and innocent that if he did lie to her it would somehow tarnish her, like a speck of dirt on the purest of white petals. “I hope it comes true.” He tried to sound cocky and arrogant at this statement but he could not, he could only just about manage a wink to accompany it. This truly sucked! How could one person have such power over another?
“You should have a look!” He tried to sound more joyful about this as he energetically bounded to one side meaning that Fay now stood in front of the mirror alone. “Your knight in shinning armour is here to save you if needed.”
Her doting, head over heels, stupidly in love knight who’s burning soul destroying passion was tearing down the very person he was! But the funny thing was he would do it all over again as despite the pain and the heartache deep down Harrison knew it was worth it as the moments he spent with Fay were the happiest he had ever felt. Go figure that one out! Harrison was a mess!
