Felicity sat on one of the couches in the common room, just staring at the crackling fire. Her knees were drawn up to her chest, and her arms were wrapped around them. Sleep had been evading her lately, so now here she sat. Bray was probably already snoring in his dorm, Ash too.
Fay had tried to explain it --more than once-- to her friends, but she couldn't seem to quite find the words. So, she just put on a smile and told her friends that she was getting enough sleep now, and everything was fine. But truthfully, it wasn't. Thankfully for her, she never really looked tired. Hmm, maybe it was because of her veela nature. Whatever the case, it seemed to keep her friends fooled for now.
Felicity ran a hand through her hair, then let some fall back in her face. She barely had time to think about anything anymore, maybe now was a good time then. The Guild was becoming more active, and because of this, Bray was becoming more protective over her. Calypso had been formed, but songs hadn't been decided on yet. And still more, she had fallen for the seventh year Gryffindor. Fay was breaking one of the laws she set for herself, but it wasn't really like she could help it.
Another sigh escaped and Fay curled up on her side, her knees still hugged to her chest. She stared unseeingly at the wall, still lost in her thoughts. Felicity's mother had actually been starting to get better, and fall back into her normal personality. But...
Fay's eyes tightened and she clutched her legs more tightly. Her mother tried to fill the space that was still in Felicity. The one meant for her father. But he was gone, and no amount of magic could bring him back to her. She had tried to get over it numerous times, but seeing what she saw, it just wasn't something that someone 'got over'.
"Just put on a brave face, and don't let them know you're hurting." Felicity muttered softly to herself.

Ash yawned as he made his way down the stairs to the Common Room. "I have got to start getting more sleep." he grumbled. Stopping at the bottom of the stairs, he realised that someone else was in the room, recognising Lissie's voice he wandered over to the chairs in front of the fire? "Liss? You okay?" he asked, concern etched on his face.

In the silence, Felicity heard the faint sound of footsteps. She quickly sat up and wiped the moisture that started to collect around her eyes before Ash came. Fay glanced up at him and grinned. "Yea, couldn't sleep." Haven't been able to sleep for a few weeks, but it wasn't like she would tell him that.
"What're you doing down here Ash? Shouldn't you be asleep or something? Or did you hear Bray's snoring in your dorm too?" Felicity forced her smile again and let herself laugh softly. If she acted normal, maybe Ash wouldn't be suspicious. Maybe he would just go back to sleep. He had enough problems to worry about. Which reminded her.
"Hey Ash, I was talking to Bray the other night. He said you were having troubles with your dad again." Fay's eyes tightened, but otherwise her expression remained unchanged. "Everything alright?"

Ash smiled knowingly, Fay wasn't fooling him one bit. He knew there was something on her mind, "Fay, I can handle my dad. Don't worry about me. I'm more concerned about you. Wanna tell me what's going on?" he asked as he sat down beside her.

Felicity sighed and brushed some hair from her face. "It's loads of things actually. I just worry too much. I over think things and then my mind goes off and creates all these horrid situations." She laughed softly. "I'm just a wreck Ash."
Fay layed her head back against the couch and looked up at the ceiling. "So many secrets we have to keep. And I just want to scream them out. But I can't." She pressed her fingers softly against her forehead. "Your turn. You haven't been you lately, what's eating at you?"

Ash sighed, "The usual. Maxi, my dad, and not to mention the fact that my wrist is still hurting like hell." he grumbled, indicating his broken wrist. It was almost healed but Mr. Nish said it had to stay wrapped up until it healed completely. And that in itself was a pain! He sighed, "Plus, I'm getting sick of Bray's comments about gays. I know he doesn't mean anything by it, but still..."

Felicity frowned slightly and tilted her head to examine his wrist. "Must've taken a nasty fall for that one." She shook her head slightly. "Ah well, things happen."
Fay stretched her arms above her head. "You know, if you don't want to go back with your dad, you can stay with my mum and me." She grinned at Ash, knowing all too well how much he disliked her mother. "Don't worry, she's never home. Usually off at work or on a trip. She would take me but I never want to go."
She frowned again on the comment about Bray. "I think Bray uses sarcasm to get out of awkward situations. Don't get me wrong, he's one of my best friends, so I'm not ratting on him or anything." Felicity put her elbows on her knees and plopped her chin on the palm of her hand. "We can't expect everyone to understand how we feel. There will always be someone who crosses the line."

Ash laughed, "Yeah, I fell down the stairs in the main entrance hall Saturday. Trust me, that hurt!" He grinned, "As long as your mom doesn't try to hook me up with someone, it's fine by me!" He sighed, "Yeah, but still... Bray just really ticks me off sometimes. I mean the nail polish thing? What the hell was that about? If he's uncomfortable watching me do my nails, then he can just look away! It's not like I forced him to watch. Not to mention the fact that he just wasted a perfectly good, not to mention expensive bottle of nail polish."

"Naw she won't. She's getting better, believe it or not." Felicity wrapped her arm around Ash's shoulder and grinned. "Roommate buddies then?"
"I'll buy you a new bottle then. Heaven knows that my mother gets enough money throughout the day. Not to mention discounts." Fay rolled her eyes and moved her arm from around Ash's shoulders. "Don't worry about Bray. He's been on edge lately anyway."

Ash grinned, "You don't have to. I have plenty more where that came from. But thanks anyway."

Felicity grinned and nodded. "Alright then." She jumped to her feet as an idea suddenly popped into her mind. "Wait here Ash." Fay ran quickly, and silently, up the stairs and into her dorm. Her other roommates didn't even stir as Fay grabbed up her sketchbook and ran back down the stairs.
Fay plopped back down next to Ash and started to flip through her pictures. She flipped quickly, so Ash couldn't see most of the pictures, especially the one she drew when she was talking to Maxi. "Here." Felicity finally stopped on the page she had been working on in the forest when Ashs tumbled across her. She flopped it down onto his lap and grinned. Pictured, were her, Ash, and Bray with their heads all close together and their arms around one another's shoulders. Each wore a large grin on their face, and Fay's figure even held up a peace sign. "What do you think?"

Ash examined the picture and grinned, "Wow Fay, this is great. This is better than my drawings!"

Felicity blushed and flipped to another page. "And I hope you don't mind, but I found one of your pictures in the forest when I was leaving. I drew another picture of it." She plopped the sketchpad into his lap. "Maybe my drawings can help cheer you up? I don't like an unhappy Ash."

Ash smiled slightly, "You really should think about selling some of these. They're sure to bring in some money. We could use the money for Calypso." He yawned, "And trust me, a sad Ashy is no where near as bad as a grumpy, sleep-deprived Ashy!"

Felicity gasped and clutched her sketchbook to her. "Sell my pictures? They're not that good Ash. I doubt anyone will buy them." She shook her head.
"And if it's money Calypso needs I'm pretty sure we're covered. My family is, for lack of a better term, rich. My mother has gotten so much money over the years it's insane. Plus my father always had a very high paying job. Money is no worry."
